5 Souls - Judas Priest

So I decided to break this review into two separate reviews, I originally planned to just do the deluxe version but I ended up wanting to do them separate since there is an EP of the bonus tracks. I don't really have more to add outside of the RoS album should be out soon and hopefully this once a week thing will work out I have already done an months work in advance. As in this is typed like a month before this is being posted.

1. Snakebite: This opens with a classic 80's feeling to it. One of the slower songs along the lines of You've Got Another Thing Comin', which this isn't actually that different from in set up. That isn't a bad thing, but I just don't completely jive with this. 
2. Tears of Blood: "Like tears of your blood, so now that your gone, embrace all that come, and die with a SMiLE". This song also opens like an 80's heavy metal cut, but the intro honestly made me laugh. There was a sort of Def Lepard feeling to it, like I could totally hear this being the rerecorded intro to Bringing on the Heartbreak. Then once the song starts it's faster and there is more agression than in the last track, but it feels like an older wearier Electric Eye. Like what Electric Eye would sound like if it was a person in it's 50's maybe. It's a solid tune if you get past that, but I just think it's okay. There is a solid solo, but honestly I can't retain a single note from it. Like Electric Eye, Living After Midnight, Hell Bent for Leather, You've Got Another Thing Comin', Painkiller, fuck I'd even include the section that replaces a solo in Breaking the Law there is no denying that you remember these guitar solos.They not only stick with you because they rock, there are some theory things behind it also, but point is it's very good and memorable. This sounds like a knock off of one or all of those.
3. Creatures: This track starts and I feel a bit unsure how to feel. Like I mean I've heard this before but I don't know what to compare it to. There is quite a bit of crunch and the song is a bit off. Then the chorus comes in and I'm like Metal Gods? This is okay, but I'm pretty sure I wont remember a part of it by the end of the review. 
4. Bring It On: This song isn't bad, but the lyrics are very cringe. The vocals also make it feel so cheesy that I can take Turbo Lover more serious. And isn't he fucking a motorcycle in that song..... Note I am aware he isn't. This is a better solo and the best thus far. This also is the most memorable that I have heard thus far, though it doesn't hold it's salt to the past solos from the bands heights. This also feels so cheesy, but I digress.
5. Never Forget: My favorite songs is the "lame" song. Ok I'm joking, but it's the sappy ballad. Now maybe it's because I'm a sucker for a pretty ballad, but this is the best (in my eyes) song I've heard before listening to the whole entire front to back. Literally, some of my favorite songs in history are the ballads by that German group, The Hunters. Kudos if you get the joke. This really reminds me of Wind of Change for some reason, either that or The Best is Yet to Come. Maybe more the Wind of Change that was on that 2011 Comeblack album. But I could literally go on for hours about the tones and what reminds me of what, but I know I wouldn't be interested in some snobby person's review that lasts forever. But let's go back about 93 words, or so. It sucks when people, a lah The Next Day, put some of my favorite tracks as the bonus tracks (or b-sides). Like honestly, screw Just Push Play. But really, this should have been on the album, almost any song could be cut to replace this. I get maybe it's out of place, but it's far better than at least 10 of the cuts from the actual album. {7/10}

Overall I have to give this track a 5/10. As you can see if you're fan you'll love this. But if you're not hardcore then I would avoid it, because it's nothing new really. This and Redeemer of Souls feel like they were just cut to fulfill a contract, or to go shit we need to make a new album.

Down IV Part I – The Purple EP

Technically this isn't a Pantera album (and if it was I'd be able to review it, it's been well over 7 reviews since I last did the band). :) It's, like every other review this month, has just been sitting around in draft.... Most from before they were released. This is the fifth release, including a live album (people mistake the In The Year of VI as number six, but it was recorded in 2006), by metal group DOWN. They formed in 1991 and had Phil Anselemo, of Pantera, Pepper Keenan, of Corrosion of Conformity, and Kirk Windstein, Todd Strange and Jimmy Bower, the last 3 of Crowbar. This isn't the first time I've heard of these guys, but this is the first like real time I'm hearing them. I listened to this thing while I was reviewing this, and I honestly didn't think I have enough beef to it, so I listened to it once, then listened to some other music that it reminds me of, then came back. So yeah. I do like some Pantera stuff, but I still need to dive into them. I don't think I've ever even listened to Damage Plan (I still haven't). I got some listening to do, and fast. The sequel, Down IV Part II is set for May of 2014. (Good thing I made that date)

1. Levitation: There is a song titled Levitation by the Sludge Metal band Mastodon. This song very much so reminds me of Mastodon. The song fades in with a something that reminds me of Blackened off ...And Justice For All. I do love that track, so I'll be waiting to see what awaits. Once the song actually starts it reminds me of Mastadon mixed with Pantera. This track right here sounds like Phil got a bunch of musicians together to play Pantera music.
2. Witchtripper: This song is funny to me, in way of how much I could see this being a Mastodon.  Well maybe not exactly, the verses mostly. I could also see this being a kind of song that the Melvins would have done, in the intro. The vocals aren't as Phil but then again I could be going crazy. I also here some Sabbath at parts, but.... this doesn't have what I like in Sabbath. I think the solo is okay also, but again... I don't know.
3. Open Coffins: This song has a type of Pantera vibe going on there. I like this song, this could be like a Pantera song that I imagine being of Vulgar Display of Power. I mean, but the thing is I like that album, this track is just kind of..... boring to me. I like the sound it's just I don't really care much. Also this goes a little long for my opinion. It got old about three minutes in.
4. The Curse: This song is pretty sick sounding. This isn't a bad as I thought. I never thought it was bad, but I didn't think that it was this kind of cool. This really is a Pantera song. I could also see it kind of being a Sabbath song. The thing is they have a feeling I like, they have something about them.... the willing ness to not just do the same song over and over. They have spirit, I'm not getting any of that from this EP at all.
5. This Work Is Timeless: This song is pretty cool. I still think I need to re-listen to some of the bands that this Ep reminds me of, but It's an Ep so it shouldn't be that bad. This could be a song by Mastodon. I've only listened to Blood Mountian in it's entirety, and a few songs here and there, but I could see this being a song by them. This tune isn't terrible, but I just want something more. Like maybe a left hook. Something exciting, something to make me go... I didn't expect that at all. I mean chaning it back to a Blackened or ...And Justice For All type feeling isn't going to make me like your record anymore.
6. Misfortune Teller: This song is pretty cool. I like the way is sounds. This EP has grown on me since listening to it. I did take about a half hour break half way thru the Ep, because I had to use the rest room, but It's grown on Me. There is a riff in the song that reminds me a little of a Zeppelin riff. I can't quite put my finger on it, but it reminds me of it. There's kind of like a hidden track at the last 30 seconds of the song. At least or a Metallica one. Also great title.....

Overall I have to give this a 4/10. You know in my time away I listed to the other guys bands and to be honest I'm not insane about this. I don't really like this EP that much, and I was excited to hear it when it came out. I feel like a lot of these reviews aren't as good as I want them to be, but I need to get them out of the way to do albums I'm more passionate about you know. Plus this year, after this month, new reviews will be by Request, Choice, or Interest. I have to hear it first if I pick it myself also. I still can't believe if I did a review a day, for me to clear out the drafts it'd take almost two years and a review every single day.

Lego My Ego - Mercury Rev

So basically, I'm not expecting that Blackstar review to be complete until at least March. So yeah, this is the bonus Ep released with the 1992 re-release of Mercury Rev's 1991 debut album Yerself Is Steam. This was one of the first albums I added to the site for review. It wasn't until recently that I started the review. I hadn't even listened to this until this review. Considering how I needed some 90's reviews, I decided why not do this Ep. It's been sitting around, plus I really liked their Car Wash Hair single, thought I consider it more of an EP. Also, look at that girl, she's gorgeous. This could almost be screen shot from a Jess Franco film..... almost. Though if anyone knows where this photo is from, or who the model is I'd be ecstatic if you'd let me know. I'm serious.

1. If You Want Me To Stay: This is a cover of the Sly & The Family Stone track. And if I'm being honest I like it. This opening reminds me of something that I'd hear Mike Patton doing. I'm 100% serious right now. Once it goes into the song I think the do a solid cover of the track. There are voices and things here that remind me of Mr. Bungle (in a good way). This is one of the funniest funk covers I've heard and you know they kind of make it their own, by way of Mr. Bungle. But I don't know, I still really like this. I also like the Wild Cherry-esque Brick House inflection vocals.
2. Shhh/Peaceful / Very Sleepy Rivers - Live: A live version of a track that would be featured on from Yerself Is Steam. This opening reminds me a bit of like this was recorded in the audience vs an actual soundboard recording. But it also reminded me a bit of Street Collage section of Movement for the Common Man. This drum rhythm and atmosphere reminds me of Love Is A Fist, either that or Travolta. I mean I do think this is good, but if these comparisons come back.... I don't know. While this isn't that bad of a track I'm waiting to read a, featuring Mike Patton on vocals credit. I like how it gets more intense and freaks out, but at 14 minutes I think it's a little long. Also I should note the album version of Very Sleepy Rivers is 20 minutes long. Also I knew it, Shhh/Peaceful is a cover of the Miles Davis 1969 track from In A Silent Way.
3. Frittering - Alt. Version: Another YIS track. I actually like this song, it's got a lot of feed back and there is some woodwinds. This is pleasant, sort of, but I mean it isn't like amazing. I think the song was a little too long.
4. Coney Island Cyclone - Alt. Version: This is a track that finds it's original home on CWH. There is this sample that reminds me of Bungle, and then the song starts. I like the song, its not half bad. But I mean I can play Let It Be Me at parts. I think that's the right song. But the horns are nice touch on the song, it's just.... I don't know.
5. Car Wash Hair - Extended Version: I wonder where this was originally from? I still like this song, and this version reminds me of the original. I can't complain about this.
6. Syringe Mouth - Alt. Version: I don't want to go into to much detail, the reason being I want to save some for the album review, but I do enjoy this track. It's pretty solid.
7. Blood On The Moon: I believe this to be one of two tracks not to be on another release, either YIS or CWH. This isn't half bad, I guess it was featured in some movie. Kind of reminds me of if Elliott Smith did psychedelic music. And with a very long thing. I don't know I've heard this before so it isn't as awesome.
8. Chasing A Bee (Inside A Jar) - Alt. Version: The last track to be on CWH and also YIS. Oh this and all the other Alt. Versions were recorded during a John Peel session. Also the thing continues into this track. I remembered I liked this on the original single. But the thing is I mean this isn't anything special. I mean I like it, but not love.

Overall I have to give this EP a 5/10. This is like a better, not great but better, Flaming Lips. Sometimes when they do Deluxe Editions of albums, older ones, they release a Rarities Edition. That contains all non-album tracks. on there. Basically the tracks that are bonus tracks with the Deluxe Edition. This is basically that, except released separately and the following year vs 20 or 30 years later. I'll still pick up this 45. Why not? But seriously, there is something that I liked about Car Wash Hair that seems to be missing from here.

Electric Revolution

This is the debut Ep by Kenosha, Wisconsin band Electric Revolution. This was released earlier this year in 2014, and my friend Justin did a review here. I thought I would review this because it's an EP and the points he brought up were points I thought I could shed light upon.

1. Helpless: This opens the album up. I like that this has a hint of Draw The Line in there, and the tones are pretty cool. But the thing is, in today's day and age this might as well be a cover/tribute band with their sound. The vocalist sings ok, but nothing that amazes me. It probably hurts the songs more. Also the song structure isn't interesting. I'm picking up Yngwie 80'a vocalist flavor here, but is rather listen to him. Malmsteen's much more interesting. 
2. I'm Just Like You: This could pass as a Stone Temple Pilot track. You know, if Scott was afraid of singing out of tune so he doesn't try to hit pitches.
3. Hero: Hey, I didn't know the Pilots teamed up with Scott Stap, you know after he had his voice removed. This guy can't sing enough power into his songs.
4. The Love I Have: This song sounds like a Stray Cats song, and honestly is probably my favorite track here. I'm not saying it's good, just saying it's a nice little surprise. The vocals here remind me of Jerry Only. This actually could be a song off one of the Only led Misfits albums. Kind of Rockabilly flavorings here.
5. Brand New Day: There isn't anything I'ven't said earlier that I could say here. Maybe the slower parts that are heavier are cooler, but nothing that is great.
6. Gonna Make You Sweat: Justin mentioned jazzy drums, so I was looking forward to this track. The past two or three days I've been tampering with tones and listening to Duke Ellington, John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Wes Montgomery, The Ventures, The Shadows and other kind of things that would be jazz or surf music. Well, there isn't anything overtly jazzy here, this sounds just like an Aerosmith track, or maybe a Guns N Roses track. I know what he meant, but my hope was just a mis-communication.

Overall I have to give this EP a 4/10. These guys are a straight Steel Panther the thing is they aren't youthful and they probably won't ever change their sound. Also if they don't change a little tiny bit on their debut album I won't probably even take a chance listening to it. Sorry, if you want to check them out go on Spotify before you put up $5 for this ep. There isn't anything slightly revolutionary about this band.

Oingo Boingo EP

This is their self titled Ep released in 1980. It was produced by Michael Boshears and Jo Julian and released on I.R.S. Records. And thought this isn't from 2014 I am going to use this as a building block for my next album.... kinda. Well I thought I should do this before I do Only A Lad and you know that's their debut album.

1. Only A Lad: I'm going to be honest right now, I think that I prefer this verison of the title track from the 1981 Debut album. The production on this I think may not nessicarly be better I enjoy the sounds here. It also reminds me a little of The Forbidden Zone soundtrack. That and Edward Scissorhands is my two favorite things Danny Elfman's composed, you know like the score and stuff. This is so quick and  actually longer than the album version. I also love the guitar tones here. The "choir" part you know the "Society has made him go astray" sounds way cooler robotically than it does on the album. This sounds very clowny and just the tones on this track are beautiful.
2. Violent Love: This song, thought a cover, is one of my favorite songs ever. There isn't any other version, other than possibly their rerecorded 1988 Boingo Alive version of the song, that can even stand up next to this bad boy. This is a cover of a song that Willie Dixon wrote and was actually recorded at one point by Muddy Waters. The voices in the intro sound like Iggy Pop, and this is like a song that should make Ska a genre taken more seriously. I mean, yeah the lyrics are hilarious, but everything about this track from the vocals, to the guitar tones, to the production to the horn solo just make this song a prefect candidate for my favorite songs of all time. This reminds me of Good Lovin' in a way by Grateful Dead, but it's much better and not as boring upon repeated listens.
3. Ain't This The Life - 10" EP: If I'm correct the difference between the 10" and 12" is the drummer and the length. Not a big time difference, but still. This track.......... the harmony and the vocals and the every which way about this song screams to me. I'm infatuated with this track. And the fact that on their debut release, not the Demo EP or the 1976 single You Got You Baby Back (they were The Mystical Knights of The Oingo Boingo) this is great and makes anything after this live up to it. I still love the debut, but this is tough competition.
4. I'm So Bad: This sounds like an outtake from the Forbidden Zone, well it doesn't have a bunch of different singers, but Squeezit The Moucher doesn't either. While I don't think this track is as good as some of the others here, I still like that it's dark in contrast to the other tracks. I mean they all were, but this is darker sounding and more moody than the others. This also appears on the Demo EP from 1979.
5. Ain't This The Life - 12" EP: This sound quality is a little more foggy here, it's also 9 seconds shorter. The feeling on the 10" is what I perfer, but this is also crazy and probably more silly sounding. This is only included on the 12" and cassette version of the EP.

Overall I have to give this EP a 9/10. The Ep is a great beginning for a great band, and I just love this. I'd pay how ever much to get my hands on this vinyl copy.

J.S. - Justin Stockton

This review as to go up on the 2nd of this month but things happen and I wanted to let this linger a little longer before I do any review. So this is the first Ep by my friend Justin Stockton, and was released independently on my label. Now usually I don't like reviewing anything I've touched, but I can give this a go. This is the first release that he's done with acoustic guitar. I want to say this was recorded and released on February 17th, 2014 and the only thing I did was fix digital distortion, and also resize the artwork and convert the mono to stereo. So I didn't contribute in anyway to the material so I can review this. Oh yeah, he also reviewed my album I did. Which by that way, was his best to date. And the first review of anything I've ever done so, yeah life's good.

1. Mary Ann: This opens the EP with a country feeling. It actually sounds like a song that I could imagine being something in the vein of Robert Johnson. Now it's not one of his songs, but very influenced and inspired by. I like that it's only about 1.5 minutes, because the thing about blues is lots of time it can drag on and on and on and on and... you get the point. This song is straight forward and doesn't stay past its welcome. It's also a great way to open this new flavor to incorporate in his material. Also he sings within his range. My only complaint is the vox be clearer, but I can't complain to much because I run into that problem sometimes too.
2. Good Night: Now I talked to him about this song and he told me its dear to his heart. There is a religious aspect in there and this is the deepest he's gotten ever. Thought that chords aren't that drastically different from the prior track, this is the style and I enjoy it. Oh, question Justin is the progression Am-F#m-DMaj. Just wondering if I can hear correctly.
3. Jack: This sounds very similar to Mary Ann, but I think it's a solid track. There is a type of just tongue-n-cheek aspect that I think he did a good job at, but there were certain slips. This reminds me of possibly a cover of a song off Folsom Prison.
4. Gettin' The Blues: This is a good song, just needs to be a little more fleshed out. I think that if he added a guitar solo in there it may have been better, but it's a good track.

Overall I have to give this a 6/10. Now this is by far the best thing he's done yet, it's showed maturation, and is showing artistic growth, which is necessary as a musician. I can't damn him because some of the ideas could have been furthered, this is only his third release. I still make mistakes and fuck up, but he is definatly growing and glad I know him. He's on the right path, also look forward to that album I'm producing for him. PS, click _here_ to go and get a copy yourself. 

Kiss & Kill - Le Butcherettes

This is the, I believe, debut release by Le Butcherettes. This was released in 2008 and I'm just gonna do a quick review for today. Why not, this things like under 20 minutes right. So here we go.......

1. Feminist Politics: This song starts out with an electronic drum beat. It also features a woman talking in Spanish.
2. I'm Queen: This song starts out with a punk riff. This is relatively simple and reminds me of The Runaways or The Slits (I like the latter way more). It's a good song and I enjoyed it.
3. The Problems Hide In Our Backs: This is just the two girls talking. This reminds me of the G.T.O. album. The way that they would have tracks where they just talked, and the sound quality of it too.
4. Kiss & Kill: This has another solid riff that reminds me of One Way Or Another, but with variations. I actually like this song more than I'm Queen. This song is a little more catchy and guitar sounds great. 
5. Last Tear: This opens with a telephone conversation in Spanish then the song starts. The lyrics are obviously tongue-and-cheek. They are actually kind of funny too.
6. Honey Honey: This is a bluesy song. For some reason I am not getting bored of this song. Possibly because it's short, but still.
7. For You're Bleeding: This is probably my favorite song on this Ep, it's the funniest song on here, but it's also the best. I think the pitch wavers in the voices are pretty funny. This is a fun song and hopefully the next song will be good too. It's also the longest track too. This ends with a sound that sound's like a rappers gonna come on pretty soon, but the singer laughs and coughs.
8. Six More: This is the last song on the EP, and by this point there isn't really anything here on this song that isn't anywhere earlier in the album.

Overall this thing gets a 7/10. It's short, and doesn't really get overbearing because of that. I also like the kind of, what some would say as "filler". I think it's pretty funny and gives personality to the Ep you know what I mean.

The Modern Age - The Strokes

This is the first release by The Strokes. This precedes Is This It and features "demos" of song that would be rerecorded for their debut. Kinda like on As I Lay Dying's split album, going on to Re-Record all those song for different albums. (Note: This paragraph was written before school, and the review was done during school, and the summary was just now).

1. The Modern Age: Now, I do like this song. I think that I might like this ones a little more.This band has a garage band/Alternative vibe to it. Lot's of times those types of bands have a DIY vibe to everything. The solos are cool, I like the way it is double picked. I also like the start stop feel of the riff. I like Julian's vocals, on songs like Reptilia, but I also like this one too. I also like the kind of "jams over" stop thing they do at the end of the song. It just ends. 
2. Last Nite: I also like this version more. I don't know if this is a thing. Like liking the rawer sounding versions of songs. A good example is, though it's not really other versions of the same songs, but Nirvana. The sloppy, raw grunge vibe off 1989's Bleach. Another example is Soundgarden's two slops from the 80's. Maybe it had to do with the money reasons, but I still like those and the sound more. This version sounds more DIY. And I like it because of that.
3. Barley Legal:  Quite possibly my favorite Strokes song, either this or Reptilia or the MGMT vibe of Machu Picchu. The verses are pretty solid but on top of that I love the chorus. I don't know why, but that kind of hooked me on the band. Actually I have Is This It and Room On Fire coming in the mail, and they should be here with Bowie's Zeit on Monday.

Overall I have to give this album a 8/10. This is short, but it's also great. Since it's short it doesn't get very redundant, and it is able to keep my interest. If you have any interest in this band at all you might want to hear this before you even hear their 2001 Debut classic.

Forever Ep - Haim

This is the debut release, by the LA band Haim. It is composed of 3 sisters, Este, Alana, and Danielle. They formed in '06 but released their first release in 2012. Now when I first heard of them, I was like they are kind of cute, why not check them out. Then they got bigger and I finally sat down yesterday to listen to this Ep. Damn! I was like, Fuck! These are sisters, they are all sexy, the youngest is only 4 years older than me, they can make good music, and they seem to have decent personalities. So if there is any group to have a crush on, its Haim. And this shows how much I pay attention, they are backing vocals on the track LVL by A$AP Rocky off his debut album Long.Live.A$AP. Actually, Alana, the one on the far left? reminds me a little of Misty Mundae.

1. Better Off: The beginning of this song reminds me of The Chapin Sisters. This whole song kind of reminds me of them. Minus the "Fucked Me Up" line. I read that theses guys were compared to Fleetwood Mac. I could kind of see that. And with that in mind, this song reminds me a little of The Chain. 
2. Forever: Alana, I think she's the singer, well anyway, remind me of Christie off You Make Loving Fun. Beside the vocals though, this song kind of reminds me of like something I would see if I were to watch MTV in the '80s. This is a very fun song. This song is a song that I could imagine listening to over the summer. The Ep was released in July, but still. This song just feels like I could hold a lot of memories of your youth.
3. Go Slow: As the title suggests, this song is slower than the others. This song reminds me a little of The Police. They way that this seems kind of reggae, but not Bob Marley. Like a hint of it. This isn't my favorite song, but I think it kind of grows on me. This also kind of seems like a song from Lion King with the atmosphere. Idk
4. Forever (Dan Lissivik Remix): I don't care for this, but it's a remix. So I don't think very much of it, you know.

Overall I have this give this a 8.5/10. I liked this a lot. It was a first time through and I really liked it. I really think that I am going to follow this band. Not only are they sexy, their music is kind of too. Maybe it's just me, but that's me. I WILL buy that iTunes Festival Ep when I get a chance to. I can't wait :) And lets pray to God for a full length sometime soon.

The Chapin Sisters E.P.

This is the debut release by the sister trio known as The Chapin Sisters. They are related to the Harry Chapin, you know, Cats in the Cradle and the silver spoon. I think they are his nieces. Well anyway, I saw them live when I saw them open for Eisley in February, 2011. I didn't think much of them until after a while and coming back to the group. Note: When I saw them the one left making them the duo. One more note, I haven't been doing many reviews because I've been getting into Jazz. And Jazz is over my head, that's why I'm trying to get into it.

1. Shady River: I think that this song kind of sounds like the others. I don't think there is anything special in this song that stands out. I'm not putting the song down, but I think it's consistent with the other songs.
2. Don't Love You: This song has a different girl singing this track than the last one. This song is a decent song. 
3. Hey: This is another pretty decent song. I like it.
4. Girlfriend: This EP doesn't have a very wide variety of sounds. The songs are basically the same. So to say. Two is more of a ''mature'' album I guess. There is more experimentation, ie Digging A Hole and other stuff too.
5. Bird Song: I like the arpeggios and the finger picking on this song. That's part of what I like about this group. They finger pick really good. At least I think so. This reminds me of Palm Tree on their 2nd album. But less arranged or worked out. Like a demo version.
6. Long Journey: This song is more country than folky. I don't care for this one.
7. Toxic: This is one pretty cool cover of the Britney Spears song. They played this song when I saw them. I like the way they did this song. This is definatly the best track. Thought I do like Don't Love You and Bird Song.

Overall I have to give this a 6/10. I think it's Ok, but I don't think it's amazing. I haven't heard their Lake Bottom LP or the other 2 Eps, but I have heard all of Two. I wish I'd bought that Cd when I saw them. It's actually pretty good. I think this is an, you like it or you don't.

Just Another Drug EP - Black Tide

I've been a Black Tide fan since about, probably, about two years now. I got Post Mortem, and loved it, the day it came out, and was anticipation it's release. Around that same time I also got into Escape the Fate. Well their album sucked, I had high hopes for Post Mortem. I'm not huge on the album art, but whatever. I actually saw them at Uproar a year ago and bought another CD so that I could have one signed and a poster signed to. This is their new Ep, that for me, came out of nowhere. I guess I should be checking up on them more than I was. But anyway it came out August 21st, 2012. The two year anniversary of my first time seeing Avenged live. So to the review

1. Start Over: I could see this song being on the radio, like Q101. This isn't really a song that I pictured Black Tide doing. I can still tell there is their style in there, but it's not the same. The riff is Ok, but I'm not huge on it. I feel like this could have possibly been a bonus track off Post Mortem. I do like the little break down. This song is kind of, for me, like Let it Out. I don't really care for that or this song much. Maybe it'll grow on me over time.
2. I Wanna: This riff kind of makes up for lost time from the last track, so to say. This is a hard hitter in the beginning. Thought I could still see this being on the radio, I could see this being pretty sick. I assume, from the lyrics, that they are making fun of the fact that they are moving more radio friendly. I respect that. The guitar tone in the solo is Sick. That's with a capitol S.
3. Just Another Drug: I couldn't really tell that this was a different song then the last. The riff in the beginning didn't really change. This kind of reminds me of Disturbed. I'm not a huge fan of that band. I don't like the direction that these guys are headed. Thought the chorus to this song is what keeps my attention, and helps me through the other parts.
4. Through Thick and Thin: I don't know why, but The Black Keys comes to mind. Like a song off El Camino. I don't know why they are moving that way. Post Mortem was a different album and it was a stylistically. I do like the chorus thought. The guitar is like not double picked, but Gabriel and Austin and doing alternate strums. I think that this is a solid song. The drums in the, towards the end, reminds me of Post Mortem. The solo is cool thought too, because it's like buried and not overpowering.

Over all I have to give this a 7.7/10. I didn't know what to expect from this EP. Ended up feeling how I expected. Maybe I'll grow to like it, maybe I won't. Only time will tell. But overall it's worth the $3 on iTunes. I think that this isn't as good as Post Mortem, but it's still solid.

Girls Girls Girls - ShowYouSuck

This is a EP by Chicago Rapper ShowYouSuck. I'm not huge on the name, but whatever. This is produced by Stefan Ponce. Now I do have to say that I have to give a Chi Town artist some love, so I'm going to review this EP today and I'll try to make up for last month. I really dig this artwork. Me, a huge Bond fan, can get with this homage to 1965's Thunderball. He also has other mixtapes he's released

1. Girlfriend: Ok lets start out. I like how this song starts out with a kind of a punch. But I'm not huge on this track. What I think that helps though it that there is an actual guitar in this song, not some Midi. He does rap fast on this. I feel like his voice kind of reminds me of Kanye a little with the "Ehhhhh"s
2. John Waters: This song has an Italian feeling to the beat. I'm not huge on the lyrics, just the sound. He is pretty fast.
3. Mediocre: I've heard this song, now, twice. I think that it's a good song. The flow is not lazy, but I think it's pretty cool sounding. I think his voice sounds a little like Lil B. But Lil B that has a flow. And the Hook in the song has this sick ass background that I love. After the hook it's him and a piano. I think it's really cool. I like this song a lot.
4. Girls, Nachos: The beginning of the song, like the very beginning, reminded me of the Goblin album. Which, now, I don't know how I feel about it. It doesn't last that way for long, but still. The hook kind of reminds me of Pitbull or Lil B in the beginning of the MySpace Collection Mixtape. I think that Pitbull is Ok, espically some of the Key of Awesome parodies of him.
5. All Love Everything: The beginning of this song, like the first two seconds again remind me of Goblin, up until the song actually starts. This song still reminds me of a Lil B with a better flow.

Overall I have to give this a 7.8/10. This guy reminds me of like Lil B or Lil Wayne. But he isn't hilarious or abnoxious, in order. I like it. I think that it's a pretty fast, easy listen. I think that you should just check it out for the hell of it if you feel like it. He also gives me a Kanye vibe. I don't care much for the lyrics, mainly because I'm not going to decider them, just listen.

The Human Abstract - 2bit

Isaac Toews, also know as his producer/rapper name 2bit, is  . He has 12 releases in his discography, available on his Bandcamp page. This includes Remix albums, Eps, Albums and Singles. This is his latest release and it came out last April. It says, on his FaceBook page, that he's been doing this since 1993, and his first release, at least on Bandcamp, She, Him, Me, Them was released May of 2008. A quick mention, that is an awesome album. He doesn't rap on that album, but there is a woman singing over the beats. It kind of reminds me of Zoey Deschanel singing, either that or the voices in the beginning of The Resident's 1988 concept album God In Three Persons, I also suggest that to listen to also. It's probably the creepiest, for me, album I've heard thus far in my life. Back to 2bit, this is an EP and I will begin to review it.

1. Stars: This has a beat that kind of reminds me of Aesop Rock's new 2012 Skelethon. That wasn't my favorite Aesop album, but I still enjoyed it. The beat wasn't thought as "agressive" as Aesop on that album. It was more of a mellow beat. This is a good intro to the Ep. This is a sweet song, it has this type of feeling that makes me want to fall asleep, but it is also kind of eerie. This is really good and I enjoy this song. It is also pretty deep. There is a voice in the background that is distorted and it's pretty cool sounding.
2. Holes: Thus far in the Ep I have been able to kind of picture him as a type of Aesop Rock. This is really good. The beat on this reminds me of The Weeknd, but this guys voice is clean and not hear to hear, so to say. Like it is clear and not in the mix. This is a good songs too. I think that it is short, but it leaves its mark, for me at least.
3. Monkey: I love the line, "Your attention deficit has to be paid soon, it's well over due." The way he has a poetry slam in the song, so to say, it reminds me a little of Jim Morrison of the legendary 60's band The Doors. I love The Doors thought some of their stuff I'm not as huge on as other. This is defiantly my favorite song. I don't know exactly why, but this song is really sick. It has a beat on it that almost, beside maybe the distorted guitar part, of Daft Punk. But maybe then again the might do something like that... what ever. The point it that he kills the song, and he uses a beat that very much reminds me of Daft Punk. After re-listening a few I thought that it reminded me of the set up of The Doors 1978 album An American Prayer. The song it most reminds me of is The Ghost Song, which has Jim's voice reading poems and the rest of the band wrote music to go along with it. I think that is a sexy song that I would make love to.
4. The City: This song really reminds me a bunch of 2003's Welcome to the Western Carpet World by the Avant-garde Metal band from California Ballistico. I know I talk a lot about them, but I do like them. They were the only other band who released an album on Bucktan Records. The other one was Pinkly Smooth, one of my all time fav's. I think that he sampled Lana Del Rey on this song, because it sounds like her voice at the ending, right before the very quick fade. I said the last song was my favorite, this is a close second. The beat on this has a fat feeling for some reason.
5. Little Bird: This song also kind of reminds me of Ballistico's singer Ben Stub who has released an album under his name on iTunes titled Whirlpool of Sadness in 2009. There is a squeaky voice singing the "hook" of the song. It kind of reminds me of The Weeknd exempt this is more clear and easier to hear the songs. That voice also kind of reminds me of, in the best way possible, Lil B's mix tape God's Father but the soft, and pretty songs. I like this guy more than Lil B and think he is a better musician/rapper, but I don't want to rip on Isaac. Just want to get that straight.

Overall I really enjoyed this 9/10. I was hoping that I could do this in one listen. That didn't work that way. Though it took me one listen to enjoy it, I had to re listen to some Aesop Rock albums to get a better hold of my thoughts on this. I honestly think that he reminded me of Aesop Rock, the white guy, not A$ap Rocky. And it's not just because he is also white, it's because of his intelligent words. I did download this free, thought it's pay what you want, as soon as I get the money, I WILL PAY MONEY for this Ep, and some of this others to. I suggest that you do the same. Wow I am stupid, he did remix the whole album She & Him 2010 debut Volume One. Hence the name. One last thing, thank you to who ever asked me to review this, I really enjoyed this. :)

Welcome to the Family Ep - Avenged Sevenfold

This is the second Ep release, and as of July 16th, most recent Avenged Sevenfold release. This was released on December 21st, 2012 and I think that it was for their tour at the time. It features Welcome to the Family (off Nightmare) a song that was unreleased (4:00 AM) and a live version of Seize the Day (originally off 2005's City of Evil). I could go on forever explaining or I could review this and have it done.

2. 4:00 AM: The piano in the beginning gives this song an intresting beginning. This is a classic song that would be recorded during their Nightmare chapter of their career. This song kind of reminds me of parts of other songs. Like a part right before the pre chorus where it kind of reminds me of God Hates Us with the guitar. The riff of the song is also a solid Avenged riff. I assume this was written after the passing of The Rev. This song screams Avenged Sevenfold outtake for me though. I could kind of see this being on like another Live In The LBC bonus disc Diamonds in the Rough. This also has a more poppy feeling to it.
3. Seize the Day (Live in Seattle): This version of the song was recorded at some point in time before the passing of The Rev. I'm not exactly sure when but I think it's a solid album. I hate doing live reviews before the studio version, because it's basically doing the same song twice, for the most part. Well anyway I think that it's a pretty version and you should check this out. Zacky sings the intro.

Overall I give this a 8/10. The live Seize the Day was solid, 4:00 Am is a good song, and it has the already released Welcome to the Family, which is also solid. Buy it on iTunes, its only $2.49

Work/Sleep EP - The Appreciation Post

This is another band that I found out because of FrostClick and this is their Ep that was released March 2010. These guys are from Boston and started up in '05. They are like a pop=punk/synth-core band, as said on their FaceBook page. So why not give these guys a try, for funzies.

1. The Beating of a Lifetime: This song starts out very poppy. But it has this "bubble gum" happiness to it. The synths give it that feel. They lyrics aren't as happy feeling and the melody. Damn it,  I hope this isn't the whole Ep. The breakdown of the song has an electronic drum in it. This song is too pop feeling to be a punk song.
2. I'm No Sure Thing: This song starts out worse than the last song. This song is kind of like the last song, but I don't think that it's as happy. This has a feeling of Dying is Your Latest Fashion in the vocals and the melody. What kills it is the synth. Its buzzing is abnoxious to me.
3. Doom & Gloom: This song doesn't really show that much of a difference between this one and the last one. There is a part that reminds me of the first album by Escape the Fate, but it ends to fast. If they had that part a little more than maybe it'd be better.
4. No Songs Is Good Songs: This song has a new Weezer feeling to it. That doesn't feel good, it doesn't have a good feeling for me. Yeah this sounds like a more winy Weezer.
5. Better My Future: This is the closest the guys have come to a Punk vibe. The bad thing is that this is just under 40 seconds and is an intrelude.
6. Fear Of Loss: Then this song starts and contiunes that punkish vibe from the last track. The vibe is killed by the synth. The drum roll doesn't even help these guys out.
7. Moving Backwards: Yeah this is the best part, # the ending is near. :(

I have to give this a 3/10. This is the first time that I'd ever heard anything by these guys. And to be honest I don't like this type of music. They sound like some random band on Epitaph Records. I think there is only 2 or 3 bands ever on that label that I like, ETF and FIR. It just doesn't work for me, I can't explain any more than, it just bugs me. I hope they make it onto Epitaph. Hey it's only 18 minutes so....

I Was Her - Zoom On A Kill

This is, what appears to be, the thirds album by electronic artist Zoom on a Kill. I did a review of this artists 100 Altered Girls back last March. As you know, I haven't been reviewing albums as much as before. My goal is to get at least 10 a month. I know, hopefully 1999 will go up this month, along with Let it Be, Rocks, Boys & Girls by The Alabama Shakes, Stranger in Town, and lastly possibly Shades of Deep Purple. Also, as of TODAY I will only do free album/mixtape reviews on weekdays, unless it's on the day it was released, ie The Weeknd's August, 2011 mixtape Thursday will go up the day it was released, just on year later. If that makes any sense to you. Well I still don't know a ton of stuff about this project or artist but I will do a review of this, mainly because I want to hear this a decent much. Each song has a different piece of artwork to go along with it. You can't download this a FrostClick, only at Bandcamp.

1. Intrakatrá: This track starts out with a sample of people talking in, what I think is, either Spanish or Italian. It ends and fades into track 2
2. Wake Up Hanz3l: This song didn't start out that bad. The wahs were a little more buried in the beginning. You can still hear it, but this song is kind of funny. They sampled the Mario coin sounds and other parts of the game two. This song has more variation to it than the other Ep. There is a little ditty at the ending where it reminds me of the ending of the song Frodo (Don't Wear The Ring) off the 2000 live debut album by the New Zeland comedy duo Flight of the Conchords. 
3. Antagonist: I don't really hate this song, but I don't love it. I kind of feel impartial about it.
4. Mario Give Us A Fuck: This song starts out very strong. It has this fast drum beat and samples Mario's "wah who!" when he jumps, and also the sounds it makes when he collects coins and shrinks. This song gets a little bit to Dub for me at parts, but it is still kind of neat. And it ends with the invisibility sound.
5. Punch It Girl!: Here's the dubstep... :( The picture for this is a girl with horns falling forwards to the side, with a noose around her neck.
6. Joystick: This samples good ol Mario again. The picture for this is a naked Asian girl with big/heavy chest. I don't think that's necessary, but what ever.
7. Eres Un Puto Juguete!: This has the same feel as Mario Give Us A Fuck but in stead of Mario's voice, you get more of a German Hitler screaming orders.
8. Taste of You: This is a duby song. Normally I'd hate this song, but the Mario sounds kind of keep me interested.
9. Hall 9000': For some reason the very beginning of this song reminded me of something off the 2009 Crank High Voltage soundtrack that Mike Patton did.
10. ADN of a Space Cdet Bulla': This is kind of a sad ending to this ep or album. This is a sweet piano atmospheric sounding song that could be in a movie.

Overall I would give this a 5.7/10. I think that this was better than 100 Girls. This was only 15 minutes long. That's not terrible, no matter what you listen to. I think that I will re-listen to this again. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't anything that really blew my socks off.

Slim Shady Ep - Eminem

This is the the second non-self release that was rapper Eminem. Does that make any sense to you? Yeah I'll explain it better. This is the Ep released following his 1996 debut album Infinite. He did have some self released Eps, but this is his 2nd release that he did not self release. Well any way, this is where Shady came from. On Infinite he didn't have any of the Slim references on it, and it is actually completely different from all of his other albums, at least that I've heard. I have heard all of his solo albums from Infinite to Recovery. That's a Not Afraid reference.

1. Intro (Slim Shady): This sets the tone of the album. It has Eminem having a breakdown. He is arguing with his evil personality Slim Shady. This has the Slim voice super deep. I think that he had the voice of Slim Shady talking to him in a deep voice on one of the songs off 2009's Relapse.
2. Low Down, Dirty: This song kind of reminds me, since I've heard other music like this lately, Atmosphere. This song is really cool, and I think that this song is a good flow. This beat is solid and he does a good job on this song. This is, in my opinion, the true Marshall. This is him before he was Ken Kaniff or Evil or anything else. This was when he was Eminem. I don't think that this isn't an awesome song, I actually love it. This has a sad story. Listen to the lyrics on it, and it seems like you have sympathy for what this character when through. I love though that he uses imagery to "scare" you.
3. If I Had...: This song continues the idea of the horrorcore theme to the album. This has a good beat and a good flow. I love that this song is titled If I Had.... I think that's awesome he has like a list of things. It seems like this is from the heart of either him or the character he plays on the Ep.
4. Just Don't Give A Fuck: This song is also on 1999's Slim Shady LP. I think the Bill Cosby impression in the beginning of the song is pretty fun. This song has really cool words on it. This is really cool, and I think that it's awesome that I am not aware of any other white horrorcore artists. He kills this song, he mentions tons of stuff like Rage Against The Machine and has other raps that would be, from what I understand, free style.
5. Mommy: This is like an interlude on the album. It sounds like someone is hiding in bushes or something and they are just coming home. This is actually a really cool intro to the next song. This could also be Eminem having the body and loading it into a car. Then going inside his house to get his daughter.
6. Just The Two of Us: This song was re-titled and rerecorded as '97 Bonnie & Clyde. This song is really cool because it explain the story of the album cover on the Slim Shady LP. I like this version a little bit more. The reasons is because it isn't a "produced". And there is also the sound of crickets in the background. This song is kind of scary if you haven't heard anything like this before. This song is definitely more twisted than any Gravediggaz song that I've heard.
7. No One's Iller (Feat. Swifty, Bizarre & Fuzz): Swifty, Bizzare and Fuzz kill this song. They say part of the chorus in the song Murder, Murder, which is the next track This song kind of reminds me or a more Wu-Tang Clan on Enter the Wu-Tang. It sounds like they are taking turns on this song. Actually it kind of reminds me of Wu-Tang Clan Ain't Nuthin' Ta F'Wit, like the way that they all take turns. But it also kind of reminds me of them trying to out rap each other. This sounds like it was really fun to do, and you can tell that Odd Future was influenced by music like this. Listen to the new songs Oldie off The OF Tape Vol. 2 that came out the past March. I did a review for that album in March, 2012.
8. Murder, Murder: This song is so fucking good. This is my favorite song on this Ep and probably one of my favorite Eminem songs that I have ever heard. I'm in no way exaggerating that statement. He samples Paul Simon's 1975 #1 Hit single 50 Ways To Leave Your Lover. I love that song and he uses the best part of the song, the part where drums roll and the instrumentation of the versus on the song. This song also tells a pretty sad story, if you listen to the words. It talks about this guy having to rob Taco Bell, but instead leaves and tries to rob more money, and the story of how he is on the run from the cops. They used a siren sample and car screech on the song. They also have a record scratches on the song. But in the end he gets caught. I love the catchiness of the song, and also the story.
9. If I Had... [Radio Edit]: There isn't really that much going on. It's the exact same song and take as earlier on the Ep. The only difference is that they censor the swears.
10. Just Don't Give A F@!; [Radio Edit]: Same story on this one as on track 9. They cut sped up the part where he swears on the song.

Overall I have to give this a 9/10. I love this thing, and I think you might to. I love that this is the EP and think that enough people don't know about it. I think that this is 100 times better than anything after Marshall Mathers LP. I do like some songs after that, but not all of them. I think you should check this out. Oh yeah, his voice is a lot higher than on Marshall Mathers LP and a little deeper than on Infinite.

Exquisite Corpse- EP - Warpaint

this is a band that formed in 2004 in Los Angeles. I remember listening to the first I heard Elephants. That song, along with the video, remind me of those late "Summer Nights". The ones where I listened to Faith No More and Mr. Bungle. It also gives me that good feeling that I got from, this will sound ironic, summer school. I felt like that was a new family for me. It was fun, but it stinks getting up. I do kind of miss it though. Enough info crap and back to the review. This is for realz holmes and now to the review. PS I'll fix the album cover later. 1. Stars: This song starts out with a feeling that reminds me of the Foo Fighters. With the exception that it's a girl singer. The song in particular that comes to mind is The Pretender off the 2007 album, whose name I can't think of but if you knew those Foos you know what I'm talking about. The drums and bass through the entire track remind me of that. The song then changes a little way into it and it turns into a Zeppelin sounding guitar with vocals from girls. The second half of this song remind me of that breakdown of the lie version of Since I've Been Loving You {7/10}.
2. Elephants: The video to this song is a welcoming one. I love it so much. This has like a magical feeling to it to where it's hard to explain. I don't really know how I can explain it. This is a very psychedelic song and has awesome guitar finger picks. The distortion to the guitar and vocals is awesome. The drums an the bass are so clear. The drums are sick and they just add to the song. This song is so clean and clear and easy to hear everything. There is a part where the girl's voice sound like its underwater. At that same part the guitar cuts out and it's just bass and drums going with her voice. The part where the song slows down and then just ha this feel of building up. Orgasm, because it goes back to the beginning. {10/10}
3. Billie Holiday: This song is ok. I don't think that it's the best song on this album, but I do think that it is neat. This song is an acoustic song, that with headphones, sounds better and more pretty. The drums in this song are a little quieter in this than the last track, but they still are sick sounding. This drummer on the Ep is really cool style of drumming, at least I think. This song is a love song and could be a love song that I could see someone having in a movie after the lead lost their love interest. There is this synth that sounds like strings. In the ending they have one of those two different people singing two different things. That is followed by two acoustic part that was in the whole song an is goes into like a distorted underwater sound kind of. Then is goes to the fade, and tw0 track fades in and his this cool feel that it comes back in. This is a really cool song {8/10}
4. Beetles: This song reminds me of Elephants, but it doesn't. This is a cool sounding song like Elephants but it has a more clear almost Undistorted feel to it. The bass and drums are more loud than the guitar. The song goes into a breakdown and during this breakdown the song has this type of pretty arpeggios that are accompanied by drums and bass. That ends and it's sole guitar playing what sounds like Greensleeves. After that a synth comes and gives it this more emotional feel to it. Then come the drums and after that the vocals. That part kind of reminds me of the breakdown in Since I've Been Loving You off the legendary live album The Song Remains The Same. After that it goes into this other kind of sounding Led Zeppelin feel. They pull it off like pros. I really enjoyed this song {9.7/10}
5. Burgundy: This song starts with sole bass and drums and then the vocals. There is the guitar that sounds like it is waiting in the background waiting to attack. This song seems like it is a tiger, so to say, and is waiting to attack. This song progressively gets louder and faster. It has this slow fade in feel to it. The most of the track sound like it is still fading in. This is really cool and I like that that the way it was produced. The instrumentation impresses me like a mofo. I can't believe I enjoyed this so much. This is a really sick song. The song then sounds like it begins to fade out to acoustic arpeggios. {9/10}

Over all I would have to give this album a 8.6/10. I enjoyed this more than I thought I would. I would suggest this album to anyone who in interested. This is a good Ep, and from what I understand the album is better. Can't wait to do that one. I think that this is neat, especially since I poked out the Led in there. Ha ha ha ha… I am hoping to get this, one day, on Vinyl and CD too, if that make that. That would be sick. Oh yeah one last thing I'm doing one tomorrow but after today the daily reviews is going to end and I will upload them as I feel. But the weekend ones will still be there. I'm hoping for, excluding the weekends, three a week. So yeah, that's it

Try This At Home - Finding Fiction

This is an indie band from Brooklyn. I found out about these guys via FrostClick. The album cover looks pretty cool and mysterious. Like I am curious to see how this plays out. The cover of this kind of reminds me of The Weeknd's mix tape House of Balloons. Oh yeah, I posted this ten days after I started the initial review

1. Migraines & Sheep: This song isn't that bad. The way it starts out is pretty cool. This song gives me a feeling of that this is going to be a good listen. And that I have not made a mistake choosing to listen to this Ep. The only thing is this song kind of drags on. And it doesn't recover from that drag for me. The second time hearing this, ten days later, I think that it is a little better. The drag still goes on, but it's not as bad. This really reminds me of that band Fun. that I heard from the commercials on YouTube.
2. Panic Rooms: This song starts out, for me, not so hot. I really was hoping to get swipe off my feet, in order to make up for that drag of the last track. #This song is only like 13 seconds shorter than track one. This song is just, no other way to say this, Bad. The beginning of the song kind of sounds like a panic. This song kind of reminds of These Animals. The name of this song kind of reminded me of Coldplay's song Don't Panic off Parachutes.  
3. Weathermen: There is nothing that really appealed to me in this song. This is the longest song, only by a couple seconds, but still. I don't like this. This just has no appeal to me. I feel like this is just to repetitive for me to like. The vocals in the mix are to in there. It sounds like there it this wall and everything is trapped within that wall. And nothing can get passed that wall. Somethings are louder than others, but thats only because they are fighting stronger. And his vocals are also just have this echo to it to where I personally can't understand a word the singer is saying. That song was just... it just went on.
4. Dear Daylight: This song is ok  There is nothing that is overly amazing about this track but it is still decent. There is this thing in the background that sounds like this siren, and it just has this odd feel to it that makes it irritate me. It kind of gets on my nerves, and it just is irritating. There is also this feel to it, that reminds me like they want to try to sound like a band that I'm not super fimilar with, but The Cure. The songs off Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me remind me of this Ep. But it's like, they are failing at it. This song just doesn't grab me.

Over all  I give this a 4.2/10. I think that this kind of dragged on. It would of been so much better if it were shorter. Not to mention track two was just bad. I hope these guys make another Ep but make it a lot better than this one. It wasn't that fun of a listen, for me at least.This is a "very indie" band that would be on the radio. One that I tend to find that I like to stay away from. They don't really sound like anything that I've never heard before and liked. One plus to this is it's only 22 minutes, but that is killed by the fact that these song are not very good. They have another ep called Plastic & Change Ep, I hope that one's better than this one.

Through The Rough - Merriment

This is the debut Ep by the band formed by Christie DuPree and her brother Colin. They are the siblings of the Elsley band members. The first releases was credited to Christie DuPree. I haven't really given her a chance. So why not do this now and review it today. I hope it's good because my favorite song off the Eisley Christmas Ep thing was her cover of Oh Come Emanuel. I recently saw these guys, along with Eisley on July 10th, 2012. They were way better live than on the Ep. So I'm re updating the albums review.

1. I Give Up: This is the first song that I heard of the Ep and I didin't like it. I gave it a couple tries and spread them apart, but I can't get into this song. And it only gets harder from here on out.
2. Blessed Soul: This song sounds like Stacey singing someone who can't really write music's song. There is also a country feel to it, and it isn't fun.
3. Through the Rough: This song kept up that overall boring vibe I get from this Ep. It isn't a fun listen.
4. Rewind: I am completely serious, I fell asleep to this song. That's how good I thought it was.
5. Sunday Morning: This song went over my head. I just didn't like it, I couldn't pay attention

Over all I unfortunately give this a 3.5/10. I wasn't interested in this and probably will be timid to check out anything Christie does like this again. After relistening to this, and having their live performance I hav to give this a 6/10. When you see them live you gain a new appreciation for them. Not a live video, a live performance.
