Down IV Part I – The Purple EP

Technically this isn't a Pantera album (and if it was I'd be able to review it, it's been well over 7 reviews since I last did the band). :) It's, like every other review this month, has just been sitting around in draft.... Most from before they were released. This is the fifth release, including a live album (people mistake the In The Year of VI as number six, but it was recorded in 2006), by metal group DOWN. They formed in 1991 and had Phil Anselemo, of Pantera, Pepper Keenan, of Corrosion of Conformity, and Kirk Windstein, Todd Strange and Jimmy Bower, the last 3 of Crowbar. This isn't the first time I've heard of these guys, but this is the first like real time I'm hearing them. I listened to this thing while I was reviewing this, and I honestly didn't think I have enough beef to it, so I listened to it once, then listened to some other music that it reminds me of, then came back. So yeah. I do like some Pantera stuff, but I still need to dive into them. I don't think I've ever even listened to Damage Plan (I still haven't). I got some listening to do, and fast. The sequel, Down IV Part II is set for May of 2014. (Good thing I made that date)
  1. Levitation: There is a song titled Levitation by the Sludge Metal band Mastodon. This song very much so reminds me of Mastodon. The song fades in with a something that reminds me of Blackened off ...And Justice For All. I do love that track, so I'll be waiting to see what awaits. Once the song actually starts it reminds me of Mastadon mixed with Pantera. This track right here sounds like Phil got a bunch of musicians together to play Pantera music.
  2. Witchtripper: This song is funny to me, in way of how much I could see this being a Mastodon.  Well maybe not exactly, the verses mostly. I could also see this being a kind of song that the Melvins would have done, in the intro. The vocals aren't as Phil but then again I could be going crazy. I also here some Sabbath at parts, but.... this doesn't have what I like in Sabbath. I think the solo is okay also, but again... I don't know.
  3. Open Coffins: This song has a type of Pantera vibe going on there. I like this song, this could be like a Pantera song that I imagine being of Vulgar Display of Power. I mean, but the thing is I like that album, this track is just kind of..... boring to me. I like the sound it's just I don't really care much. Also this goes a little long for my opinion. It got old about three minutes in.
  4. The Curse: This song is pretty sick sounding. This isn't a bad as I thought. I never thought it was bad, but I didn't think that it was this kind of cool. This really is a Pantera song. I could also see it kind of being a Sabbath song. The thing is they have a feeling I like, they have something about them.... the willing ness to not just do the same song over and over. They have spirit, I'm not getting any of that from this EP at all.
  5. This Work Is Timeless: This song is pretty cool. I still think I need to re-listen to some of the bands that this Ep reminds me of, but It's an Ep so it shouldn't be that bad. This could be a song by Mastodon. I've only listened to Blood Mountian in it's entirety, and a few songs here and there, but I could see this being a song by them. This tune isn't terrible, but I just want something more. Like maybe a left hook. Something exciting, something to make me go... I didn't expect that at all. I mean chaning it back to a Blackened or ...And Justice For All type feeling isn't going to make me like your record anymore.
  6. Misfortune Teller: This song is pretty cool. I like the way is sounds. This EP has grown on me since listening to it. I did take about a half hour break half way thru the Ep, because I had to use the rest room, but It's grown on Me. There is a riff in the song that reminds me a little of a Zeppelin riff. I can't quite put my finger on it, but it reminds me of it. There's kind of like a hidden track at the last 30 seconds of the song. At least or a Metallica one. Also great title.....
Overall I have to give this a 4/10. You know in my time away I listed to the other guys bands and to be honest I'm not insane about this. I don't really like this EP that much, and I was excited to hear it when it came out. I feel like a lot of these reviews aren't as good as I want them to be, but I need to get them out of the way to do albums I'm more passionate about you know. Plus this year, after this month, new reviews will be by Request, Choice, or Interest. I have to hear it first if I pick it myself also. I still can't believe if I did a review a day, for me to clear out the drafts it'd take almost two years and a review every single day.

The Story of Light - Steve Vai

This is the 9th studio album by guitar virtuoso Steve Vai. I remember when I heard about this album, I was anticipating it's release. I was really into what it might sound like.... then I saw the cover. Now I appreciate it a lot more and thing it's kinda cool and fits the album, but back then I was an ignorant asshole sod I decided not to check it out. Now about 6 months short of 3 years later, I finally give it a spin. Well I did an informal review first time through and realized how good it was, then decided to give it multiple listens.
  1. The Story of Light: This song starts out the album and it has this foreign language voice that reminds me a ton of Scary Monsters' opener. You know what this track really reminds me of, oddly enough, Trance-Fusion. That's the 1988 tour solos album released 2006 by Zappa. Now Vai played with Frank back in the early 80's. Like I think from 1980-1981, no later than 82.
  2. Velorum: So far this album sounds very reminiscent of the 80's for me. Now this isn't a bad thing, this is a very triumphant album thus far. After the intro starts I hear beautiful strings that are just gorgeous. If the album keeps this up it's bound to at least get an 8. I casually listen to Buckethead's 2010 series The Pike where now he's one like 110. This track sounds like it could fit, following the strings, on one of those albums very easily, or at least one of the ones I've heard. Also I really dig that like double solo towards the ending, reminds me a bit of Inca's Road.
  3. John The Revelator: This song title sounds like a Priest or Yngwie song. This is also one of two tracks that features Beverly McClellan who I think was, according to her discography, on The Voice. This song opens with a sample, or what sounds like one. I assume it's Steve singing, but it reminds me of Axel's when he does that deep vocal harmony thing on tracks like Pretty Tied Up or Colma. You know, this is just an ok track, it's not as good as one of the other two before it. This not as cool
  4. Book of the Seven Seals: This track segues from the last track and this is actually more engaging then the prior, and actually it's more gospel. I had my guitar and played a solo along and got so into that track, I can't really remember what happened.
  5. Creamsicle Sunset: A very approprate title for a track that sounds like it was recorded with a possible Hawaiian flavor to it. This also sounds a lot like, to me, Zoot Allures' title track. This is a great choice to follow that intense soulful track. This is a very mellow track that I just wanna fall asleep to, I really do feel like I'm st
  6. Gravity Storm: This sounds like that classic Vai that I know. I can't quite put my finger on what the riff reminds me of, but when I do, I will say what it is. I like that the soloing isn't the sole focus on this track. The elecytronics here are nice, and this just is a pretty solid track over all. I mean
  7. Mullach a'tSi: This is a traditional Irish lullaby. I don't really like Irish things, but thats a little beside the point. This sounds very oriental in the intro to me. This title is very odd, but what ever. I really like this it's very relaxing. I also love that I picked up on the harp in the track. I love harp :)
  8. The Moon and I: I guess this was originally released in 2010 but was remixed for this album. This reminds me of another type of mellow song in the realm of ZA. This also sounds very 80's esque. This is a nice relaxing track and feels like a pleasant little instrument (with vocals). I wish there weren't vocals but I think it might run a little long.
  9. Weeping China Doll: This track really reminds me a ton, I mean a ton, of For The Love Of God. I really like the acoustic guitar sounding steel things right before the 2nd solo starts up. I really don't know what to say about this track. It's nice, but nothing new or special to add to this album.
  10. Racing the World: This has a nice change of pace, kind of, feeling to it. I wish the last trackwas cut and replaced with this instead, but you know it's all good. There is a bit of a Madden sound track feeling to this song. But you know.
  11. No More Amsterdam: Steve sings on this track. It's okay, I mean I really don't have much to say.
  12. Sunshine Electric Raindrops: Closing the album is a tune that's okay, I mean at this point it isn't special. It's just kind of a tune. Nice solo thought
Overall I have to give this album a 7/10. I need this album, and would go back in time and kick my ass to get it. I mean upon second time through it isn't a mind blowing, but you know it's okay. I still tink it's better than I expected, but yeah. Check it out if your so inclined.

Music From Another Dimension! (Deluxe) - Aerosmith

I figured, since there hasn't really be anything of any note or even reviewing for a while the thme has come to do this. Yes a record I started before, the pre-review, the release of this some 4 years ago. There is a reason this hasn't gotten finished, but with the upcoming Steven Tyler solo country debut album slated for February 2016...... Also, some of this was typed 4 years ago so, yeah. This is the long awaited album by one of my favorite bands. I have been waiting for this since 2008. I have been holding a certain type of anger against them because of the wait  I said that this better be worth the 4 year wait. Especially since it's first official date was August 28th, 2012 and it was pushed back to November 6th, 2012. Well heck with you Steven I'm not picking it up the day of, I'm gonna pick you up a week late. Sorry, but I mean what I said. Let's see you be one Cd sale short of debuting at #1. I waited so long to review this because I had to brush up on my Aerosmith. I hadn't listened to any albums front to back, excluding Toys in the Attic in April. I was hoping to get this up by Christmas of 2012 but that sadly never happened, and you'll find out why now.
  1. LUV XXX: I don't like the name of this song at all. I actually think it's kind of a stupid name. I listened to a few seconds then skipped it and listened to some of the other songs. I did return to it. The beginning kind of reminded me of a 2012 version of The Movie. With the spoken word part, either that of like Twilight Zone. Also, their name is not Prince. This starts off the album rather promising. The riff is pretty cool, and it gets you pumped to hear the album. While I"m not huge on the vocals, and harmonies I'll let them slide. As the song goes on and on the only connection I can think of is the verses had to be inspired by both Hello There and Goodbye from Cheap Trick. Also, by the end of the track I'm drained. I really don't even want to defend it anymore. Okay solo.
  2. Oh Yeah: There is a song by Badfinger called Oh, Yeah. This songs beginning kind of reminds me of that song. The harmony vocals in this song are just... I don't know. The only thing I can say is this was written entirely by Perry. I mean I hear it, but still..... ;'(
  3. Beautiful: The beginning of this song reminds me of Back in the Saddle with the foot steps. This song didn't really feel like an Aerosmith song, at first. Like I could see this maybe being a mix of I don't know. When it clicked was after I re listened to Permanent Vacation in my car, because I wanted to hear Magic Touch. After that it became my favorite song on the album. Maybe the only song I love too.  I like the textures a lot on this track, but I feel like I don't want to ruin the song. I mean there isn't anything I could ruin, but I just really like this one.
  4. Tell Me: What you see. Starting with an acoustic guitar, this could be a rewrite of Crazy or Amazing. The only thing that doesn't make me want to delete this song off my computer is the fact the chorus is pretty neat. I like the trippy feeling from it. Sort of Nine Lives ish, and I like the backing vocals/harmonies also.
  5. Out Go The Lights: This title is too similar to that Kanye off Dark Twisted Fantasy. Cool riff bro, where do I Get The Lead Out? I do like the chorus and backing singers, but I'm not nuts on what they are saying. The song might go over better if it wasn't a blues band playing it. The actual chorus is trippy, but I mean... I don't know. I don't think this is horrible, just not memorable. I mean by the ending of the song, I"m glad it's ending. Also nice way to end the song then come back, and why does it come back. For a solo that isn't even worth listening to.
  6. Legendary Child: I don't care for this song. I don't really like the name, it reminds me way too much of 1976's Last Child. I love that song, and I don't really like this song all too much. I don't think this is funny, all the stuff I liked about the band is not working here. Also there is not reason this song exists.
  7. What Could Have Been Love: No offense, but this is a gay song. By that I mean this song is kind of "faggy" for these guys. WHY THE HECK DON'T THEY STOP WORKING WITH MARTY! I don't think this song is that good, it's tolerable, but no matter how much I hear it I can't really get into it. I don't think this is a true Aerosmith song. At least not worth waiting four years for. I feel like this is a ballad, but it's here just to have a ballad. There is nothing here that makes me feel anything beyond it's a ballad for sake of a ballad. Stevie plays cigar-box guitar here.
  8. Street Jesus: It's nice to see Brad credited to a song again. I thought this was the first time Brad was credited to songwriting on an album since 1993's Get A Grip. I was wrong, it was actually 1989's Hoodoo/Voodoo Medicine Man. This is also one of 3 song that credited Tyler/Whitford. The other's being 1975's Round & Round and 1976's Nobody's Fault. Well that is unless you count the entire Done With Mirrors album credited to the all the members of the group. Both of which are awesome hard rock songs. So as you can tell I had a "expectation" for this song. And we'll certain days I enjoy this, others I don't. I go back and forth between "I like this, maybe I was a little to harsh" to "Why did I ever like this" and the process repeats. It seems best listening once in a blue moon or two.
  9. Can't Stop Lovin' You: I really like the beginning of this song. After kind of re-listening to Get A Grip I gained a new respect for this song. It reminds me of a country song I'd hear on the radio, but it's kind of good. While Carrie sounds good here, come on. Talk about appealing to a pop audience. I do think this works out good, and it doesn't get worse with time. There isn't much to say, it's good. It's not a generic piece of Aerocrap. Maybe it does go a little long, but it's not terrible.
  10. Lover Alot: This song isn't that amazing. It sounds like a newer version of a song from Get A Grip. The funny part is that it was probably reworked from Pump Era or Get A Grip Era recordings. With each listen I'm almost convinced to like it less. To be serious, I am progressively loosing interest in it, and faith in this LP. Also 7 fucking people wrote this song, maybe that's too many.
  11. We All Fall Down: This title reminds me of Falling Off which I think was some like B-side or Bonus track from like 1993/1994. Don't quote me on this but I'm pretty sure. It also might be an outtake. But this was written by Dianne Warren of I Don't Want To Miss A Thing and other hits writer. What the fuck, this pissed me off. And as for the song................... I never liked Fallen Angels, but this is actually shitty boring lame ass song. I mean even Fly Away From Here has grown on me, but this. This is generic pop Aerosmith.
  12. Freedom Fighter: While cheesy, this would fit better in August or July. You know Independence Day and all. Good song, not really. I prefer America, not this bullshit. Also guess who sings backing vocals here, Johnny Depp.
  13. Closer: to God. This song starts and it isn't that bad. It kind of sets up something that might be good. While this isn't that amazing of a song, I could see it fitting on Just Push Play, I feel like this should have closed the album. 13 tracks, this closing it... that would honestly be fine.
  14. Something: In the way she move. I like the organ in the opening, and I like how this feels like it was not used for a James Bond theme. But as the song goes on and on I see why they didn't accept it.
  15. Another Last Goodbye: This is a stupid name for a song. I don't care for the title. To be honest, this feels like classic 70's ending to an album. While there might be a bit of a differnce, there is still Tyler and his piano. Home Tonight, You See Me Crying, Mia this song is pretty decent.
Here are the bonus tracks. I'm not going to waste time specifying which goes with which, but here are the bonus tracks. It should be noted that I really don't know of an artist who......... Why are you guys doing this. Nothing you've put out since Just Push Play is even worth revisiting. Hell, I'd even go as far to say it's not even worth checking out. Beautiful is a great tune and Can't Stop Loving You surprisingly didn't get old. Another Last Goodbye, while not amazing still pulls enough of those nostalgia heartstrings.. That track kind of holds up well, but outside of those; this, and your solo material, is basically garbage. I'm sorry. Now back to the bonus tracks.
  1. Shakey Ground: I have heard the original, after I head this version, and it isn't a half bad song. The Temptations are actually a great band if you're listening to the right shit. I like how it sounds like they got a clavi to play in the track. This is pretty funky, and I love those horns in the track. They reminds me a bit of Straight Up. This is much better than a vast majority, if not everything actually on the album. Then we get a rare saxophone appearance on a Aerosmith track, which I'm pretty sure hasn't shown up since at least the 70's. Also there is a rhythm guitar appearance from someone who hasn't appeared on one of their records since 1982.... Rick Dufay (the guitarist who replaced Brad from 80-84). I should note there is a fun feeling to the original they tried to capture and while I think they did a decent job, the original is better.
  2. I'm Not Talkin': This is a cover of the 1964 Mose Allison track. This was only featured on the Japanese edition. I'll say right now, this is more in line with the cover of Baby Please Don't Go off Bobo than the actual deluxe edition bullshit tracks. This comes and goes pretty fast, it's not terrible but it's kind of just same old same old at this point. There isn't anything special here.
  3. Up On A Mountian: The thing about these bonus tracks are the Japanese bonus track Face off 2001's Just Push Play is one of my favorite Aerosmith songs ever. Period. So it sucks they don't release them in America. But anyway Tom wrote this himself and sings lead. I was very excited to hear this. And....... I don't care for Tom's voice. This is the first time Tom's ever sang lead. I might be wrong, but this song kind of reminds me a little of 2004's Honkin On Bobo. At least I'll be able to pick out his voice at the ending harmony of Love in An Elevator. I don't think I'm gonna listen to this song again :( I mean the song isn't terrible, it just isn't anything that sticks out to me as worth revisiting after this. This should be a bonus track.
  4. Oasis In The Night: This is a song that starts with acoustic guitar, and was written by Joe. The thing is, when I hear this, I go.... what the hell buddy, you sound terrible. Is he doing for a Dylan vibe. If so, I guess he's doing a some what inflection of him now, but.... I really can't even like.... This song isn't horrible, it's just when I hear the lyrics and how this sounds together.... I don't even want to sit through the entire track. It's a nice change of pace, but that doesn't give it a pass.
  5. Sunny Side of Love: Written by Steven and Fredreiksen.... this is so Geffen era, maybe like a ballad off Nine Lives. I mean, I used to like that album a lot, but really, it's more select tunes off anything post Draw The Line.
Overall I have to give this a 4/10. This is what I expected. I don't even know what to say. I really kind of..... this is my absolute least favorite release by these guys. Hell DWM is better all around. I've waited 4 years for this, me specifically not talking about those who waited the whole time. What they need to do is fire Marty and Steven has to stop trying to be cute and give the band personality. The 70's group had way more personality and were bad asses. The worst thing they ever did was get song doctors. Also they have to go the way Joe wants to, why?, because he knows whats up. The production hurts the songs for me, to flat out killing others. If you listen to the first Aerosmith album, that is a "true blues" album. Listen to the first like 3 seconds, with headphones and the volume turned up, of the song Movin Out, or Make It but on the Pandora's Box version (the self titled and Pandora's Box version are different, slightly). There is an unintentional noise in the background. Some of that, I think, was left in the mix because it couldn't have been taken out. Now it's like a germaphobic Aerosmith where they can't leave little bits like that and they have to have everything clean and sterile and if a little studio thing like that happens then they have to "rewrite" the entire album. Or at least that's part of a theory of why the pushed the album back 3 months, after there was a release date of 08.28.12. They probably had to give the album a acid treatment, the entire thing. UGH!!!!! Why are people so afraid of germs. I'll never know. If the next albums like this, I GIVE UP!!!!!!!! Oh by the way 4 years later it only gets worse with each listen.

Black In The Sack - Blowfly

This is my last review for this month (probably). I think its kinda hilarious this is going up for a Valentines Day review. The holiday of lovers. But seriously, Im not huge on it (single) but people who oppose it are full of shit. At least i can admit I'm single on VD. Well, now that i got that outta the way, this is the latest LP by Blowfly. It was released in September 2nd 2012 but was finally uploaded to Spotify Feb 11, 2014. That's the day I'm starting this review. On the Spotify thing it says credits Tesco Vee as an artist on all the tracks. Sorry about the cover, there aren't really any other versions that are as funny as this one. I kind of want to guess before the review what the parodies are of. I'm also digging the design of his name. The album was originally released on cassette on Burger Records and produced by Rat Bastard.
  1. Oh, Ben: I wonder if this is a spoof of the MJ song about a mouse. Damn I'm on fire with those guesses. This is the prettiest ballad I've heard about a homosexual mouse. It's actually pretty hilarious. It's pretty funny, and I think it's great that that's the way it is. The funniest lullaby I've ever heard.
  2. AM/FM: Could this be a Steely Dan spoof. You know... Well I was wrong, it's a spoof of Thriller's classic track Beat It. It's a "message" from Michael Jackson. This is pretty good and it's kind of funny, not as funny as the prior track, but still.
  3. The Sound: This track features The Meatmen. He mentions that this is out to a friend of Sam Cooke. I think it's supposed to be a spoof of (What A) Wonderful World. I'm not 100% positive, but I'm pretty sure.
  4. Dirty Chicken: I'm not sure what song this is. I'd probably enjoy the cover more if I knew what song it was, but it's just ok. This isn't as good as some of the prior tracks, but it's still pretty good.
  5. Black In The Sack: I kind of want this to be an AC/DC spoof of Back In Black. Oh my GOD! I'm right, thank you. The backing band on this album is pretty solid. This sounds like there are audio glitches in the track, but whatever, that's hilarious. A great track, and honestly his voice is funny because he does a hilarious job at Brian Johnson vocals. I think he does a better Brian Johnson than the man himself.
  6. Spermy Nights (Slight Return): A double reference, Jimi and The Weird World Of Blowfly album track name. This is a ballad version more, just him and a piano. It's more in the style of the I Belive My Dick Can Fly parody of the R. Kelly song. His voice singing over the piano makes it kind of pretty. Kind of like the aged Johnny Cash voice. I'm not saying he sounds like Cash, but age does things to your voice, and you hear it hear. It's actually added to the effects of the song.
  7. Girlies In The Morning: I think this is another pretty solid song, but I'm not sure what it's a spoof of if it is one. This is a nice song to follow up the prior track.
  8. Dick Stabbath: This track starts out with a dracula impersonation, it's kinda cheesy, but funny enough. I think that the drac is FISTFULA (note it's actually Tesco Vee, FIST is the backing band). The intro is how they'd introduce a monster movie on TV. This is a parody of Black Sabbath by Black Sabbath off their self titled 1970 debut. This is pretty much the typical Blowfly lyrical content, but the instrumentation is almost like a cover, and it's fricken great. I think it's funny, but they did a great job at the replication. The tone of the guitar is great. Actually, beside the original, this is probably the best verison I've heard ever. This actually sounds like 13 production wise. His fricken laugh, damn! This is one wicked cover. This is the first song I've heard, and honestly I'm very impressed.
Overall I have to give this Blowfly effort a 7/10. After this review I have a lot more to do to catch up with these other artist. I don't think it lived up to that Dick Stabbath, but still, it was pretty good. I actually liked it a lot more than the prior Blowfly's Punk Rock Party. You know, this album ain't that long, and it kicks the crap out of the dreaded Superblowfly that I plan on reviewing. I also plan on putting that off as much as possible. But I do plan on possibly doing The Weird World of Blowfly, Blowfly On TVPorno Freak or Electric Banana sometime this year. But I'll defiantly do Blowfly On Tour, which I'm pretty sure it came out in '74. I plan on doing a month devoted solely to albums released in years that end with 4. So 1944, 1954, 1964, 1974, 1984, 1994, 2004 but probably not 2014. PS I put links so you can see the years.

God's Father - Lil B

This is the 22nd, or so, mixtape release by rapper Lil B. I reviewed his albums 6 Kiss from 2009, and 2011's I'm Gay (I'm Happy). I have, before reviewing this, listened to it now 3 times. The reason is because I liked I'm Gay until the third listen to it. Because it got boring, but I don't think this one will be the case. Quick note, Brandon has said that everything except Choices and Flowers under the name The Based God is a mixtape. Finally I get to upload this, it's done, it's really done! The next Lil B review I'm gonna do is probably Trapped In The Basedworld, aka this ones follow up.
  1. The BasedGod's Layer: This is the introduction to the mixtape. This has like an angelic feeling to it. I heard this song a bunch of times before I listened to the rest of it. I think that this is a really good intro. And I like how the style switches from this and the next track. This is a pretty neat intro for the trip to come. Sit down, put head phones on, relax, and listen.
  2. I Own Swag: He raps like Danny Brown on this song. For some reason I sing along with this song, just like I would to a Danny Brown song. Even the terribly sung chorus part of the song is sick. I don't know why, but it just works for me. The beat is trap, but there is a type of thing that makes me sounding industrial. It is like a robot charging up, and computing. The beginning continues the epicness of the prior track. I also laugh at the "faggot" and "fatty" insults. He also does a Jamaican thing that's funny too.
  3. Fuck Ya Money: This is a pretty song more in line with R&B. He's actually staying on beat, which yes it is pretty slow, but still Bs doing it. He's doing it, this
  4. Febuarys Confessions: Another great sample and R&B flavored. He's sing talking/rapping here, but the whole aura of this song makes you believe he is trying to say something. Some lyrics don't 100% make sense but that's ok because it's joyous. It's a happy song, touching.
  5. Buss Em 4 Points: This has awesome strings on this song. Another joy, but instead of pretty joy it's happy joy. Upbeat joy, and the sample, 5 for 5 so far. I want to know these song in the background they are great.
  6. Tropics: The intro is great and a continuation of the joy from the previous track.
  7. Real Hip Hop 2012: This could be a Wu-Tang Clan beat. Now, me saying that sets a bar. By saying that that means you need to flow to kill this beat, and DAMN! He is living up to it. I don't ever recall him doing this good. It's suprising, and this beat is so solid. I'm running out of things to say about this other than this is great and the beat is like Asian sounding. {8/10}
  8. Keep It 100: This song reminds me a little of The Lonely Island. The beat is great and part reminds me of the interludes between "The Kardashian" Show or other E! Reality Shows. The strings are pretty great, and I like the digital analog drums sounds.
  9. Fonk Ain't Dead: If the bass drum was slightly different this would remind me of old school hip-hop. This beat reminds me a little, only the atmosphere and female voices and reverb, of Outkast's 1994 debut album.
  10. Feds At My Doh: This is a pretty "gay" beat, but Lil B makes it fun. The 80's sound quality vibe of it is why people make fun of that and the following decade. This is a solid track though and I'm suprised it as enjoyable as it is. It's relatively simplistic and that's probably it's apeal. And there's one of my favorite rappers again. The ending is kind of funny sounding, and I like the added "pinball machine racking up points, arcade" sounds.
  11. Remy: it sounds like an R&B sample with a computer booting up and shutting down. The guitar in here sounds great, it's pretty seductive. I wonder what the original track it's off.
  12. Flowers Rise: This has a little flute thing in it. I could see the being on the bedroom escapades comps. I could also see it being the music to a Super Nintendo Game or Pokemon waiting music in the one for Wii.
  13. God Help Me: This starts with him giving condolences to the ones who've passed. The drums on this are ok, but the sample gives it an intresting feel. It makes me think the woman's calling through the jungle. It's a nice track, a pretty track, a touching one.
  14. Breath Slow: The piano on this reminds me a little of X-Men off his 2009 6 Kiss, which I reviewed in the past. This is a trap song, but that piano still makes me think if it. This is one of the weaker songs in my opinion. The reverb on the vocals at the end remind me of The Holy Filament off 1999's California album by Mr. Bungle.
  15. I Ain't Neva Won: this song I feel is a little weaker than the prior track. Trust me, the album is 100fold better when you sit the two hours through.
  16. Let It Drop: This actually reminds me more of older hop hop. The beat ad the "wind" sound and guitar sample reminds me a little of Wu-Tang or one of the solo projects. This is a pretty song, that also doubles as good too.
  17. God's Father: This has a mellow kind of sample in the chorus/hook. I feel like the sample during the verses reminds me of something like Mr. Rogers. I don't know why, but I mean that in the best way possible. I think that it has this child feeling to it. And Who doesn't like children. I like the Eminem references to.
  18. Be A Star: This sample reminds me of What's Going On, the feeling of warmth  you get from it, or at least a similar one. The title track on that album has this type of introduction where it has the instrumentation come in as there are people talking. Then the strings through out the track reminds me of a song on that album. I'm not exactly sure if it's a certain track, but the style more so. This has pretty arpeggios in it.
  19. Deep Ass Thoughts: The guitar sampled here is pretty, and the theme is neat here. I don't know why, but I feel Brandon isn't lying, or bending the truth. The chorus is kind of funny here.
  20. Go Dumb Tonight: This song samples a soul song that reminds me of Motown. The way it is though   Is pretty glamorous. He is also rapping here at a pace and is doing an accent, a funny one, at party. He sounds Jamacian kinda. This is a funny song and a great sample. The horns on this sound great.
  21. Bitch I'm Bussin: I like the ambience to the sample. The beat isn't so ambient, but I think the combination of the two kind of work. It kind of sounds like underwater parts in "Donkey Kong Jr Country" or whatever it's called. You know, for Super Nintendo.
  22. Glourious BasedGod: The great electronic discharges in the intro rock. I enjoy the sound of it and like the way the he's rapping on the track. This is a solid track.
  23. See Ya: This song has the type of beat that I would imagine on a Basket Ball game. Like Holy Calamity by that one Handsome Boy Modeling School. I like this and think its funny.
  24. Flash: This is probably the most A$AP he gets here, even dropping his name. Except the bass might not be in an Rocky song, you know the underwater bass. Pretty epic sounding.
  25. The Deal: this intro reminded me a little of Death Grips with more minimal beats. This is very minimal, but B isn't scaring me. That doesn't mean he's doing a bad job though.
  26. Pain: This has another guitar in it. There are also doorbells, or shall I say some M3 intervals..... hahahaha. This is another good song, like I said earlier I can't find any bad tracks.
  27. Secrete Obsession: This song features an upbeat 80's sample. This song kind of talks about when he first started rapping. When he was in PE in 6th grade and they wanted to see who was better. This song is actually, though I can't relate because of the rap part, it is pretty cool that's the way it happened. Better than Last Call.
  28. Turned Me Cold: This is another fanominal Track all around and just pumps me up. In this song he samples the 2011 track Man Down by Rihanna and lowers it. I really enjoy this track and think it's pretty great. I like how it alternates between funny, kind of serious, then at the end funny again.
  29. Sf Mission Music: The piano in it reminds me a little of TC. I actually really like this track a lot. This also has some pretty electronics in there.
  30. I'm Just Livin: I like the fun feeling to this song, and also the welcome vibe of it. I also like that percussion sample in there, it's very pretty sounding. This is another very fun song.
  31. Words Not Spoken: This track reminds me of The Real Slim Shady by Eminem. I actually wouldn't be suprised if he sampled that song in this track. This is a pretty solid track.
  32. Wake Up Mr Flowers 3mix: This song has a jazzy intro, then it goes into a hip hop thing. The sample in this song is pretty cool, and I like the instrumentation there, especially the way the keys sound. This is kind of like BadBadNotGood, well at least more or less.
  33. Water Is Dmg: I really think the strings on this are pretty cool sounding, and they make this epic book closer effect to the next track when heard front to back. This is the perfect way to kind of sum up the mixtape. I like that he starts the mixtape out with a dreamy song, and ends it with a louder dreamy track.
  34. I Love You: This is the outro. I don't know if he is singing on this, or if he is just talking. The thing is that this is a touching song. It kind of reminds me of the ending of Sesame Street. It is just pretty relaxing, even though he can't sing very good. I can't really explain this unless you hear it. It is the, no exaggeration, best possible way he could have ended this 1 hour and 56 minute long mixtape. I was surprised to see this sampled a Final Fantasy song.
Overall I think this thing is really good. I think it's a 9/10. Part of the reason I like this so much, probably, is because I'm Gay didn't really change style. This changed styles like it was various artists. By that I mean that this seems like a 34 track record label sampler, but some artists appear on this more than once. The thing too about Lil B is that he is so fricken happy. How, I want to know your secret. Not literally, but seriously who doesn't want to love life. This thing is good because you can tell he put his heart into the more touching songs. He didn't just bs and make stuff up. One more thing, though it's two hours long, it's best when you hear it front to back. It kind stinks about it being two hours, but it is well worth it and after time 2 it went by faster each time. I have to also apologize for the 3/10 rating on I'm Gay, I took him a little too serious and wasn't as open minded and didn't know Brandon as much as I do now. But this shows that confidence is the key to making people believe in you. There isn't a single track on here where he isn't completely confident in what he's saying that. I applaud you Brandon. I want him to release an instrumental version of this, I'd like to listen to that too. But in all honesty, I can't stress the front to back aspect of it for me. It's way better that way.

Forever Ep - Haim

This is the debut release, by the LA band Haim. It is composed of 3 sisters, Este, Alana, and Danielle. They formed in '06 but released their first release in 2012. Now when I first heard of them, I was like they are kind of cute, why not check them out. Then they got bigger and I finally sat down yesterday to listen to this Ep. Damn! I was like, Fuck! These are sisters, they are all sexy, the youngest is only 4 years older than me, they can make good music, and they seem to have decent personalities. So if there is any group to have a crush on, its Haim. And this shows how much I pay attention, they are backing vocals on the track LVL by A$AP Rocky off his debut album Long.Live.A$AP. Actually, Alana, the one on the far left? reminds me a little of Misty Mundae.
  1. Better Off: The beginning of this song reminds me of The Chapin Sisters. This whole song kind of reminds me of them. Minus the "Fucked Me Up" line. I read that theses guys were compared to Fleetwood Mac. I could kind of see that. And with that in mind, this song reminds me a little of The Chain
  2. Forever: Alana, I think she's the singer, well anyway, remind me of Christie off You Make Loving Fun. Beside the vocals though, this song kind of reminds me of like something I would see if I were to watch MTV in the '80s. This is a very fun song. This song is a song that I could imagine listening to over the summer. The Ep was released in July, but still. This song just feels like I could hold a lot of memories of your youth.
  3. Go Slow: As the title suggests, this song is slower than the others. This song reminds me a little of The Police. They way that this seems kind of reggae, but not Bob Marley. Like a hint of it. This isn't my favorite song, but I think it kind of grows on me. This also kind of seems like a song from Lion King with the atmosphere. Idk
  4. Forever (Dan Lissivik Remix): I don't care for this, but it's a remix. So I don't think very much of it, you know.
Overall I have this give this a 8.5/10. I liked this a lot. It was a first time through and I really liked it. I really think that I am going to follow this band. Not only are they sexy, their music is kind of too. Maybe it's just me, but that's me. I WILL buy that iTunes Festival Ep when I get a chance to. I can't wait :) And lets pray to God for a full length sometime soon.

Phantom Antichrist - Kreator

I was going to review this when it first came out this summer but I didn't like it enough to give it a positive review. My friend asked me to review this for his birthday. So when I realized what album this was I was like SHIT!. But then I went, well that was then, this is now. I'm going to listen to it more open minded and try to think. Sometimes you need more than one listen ah-lah Lulu. So, Here we Go.
  1. Mars Mantra: This is the introduction to the album. It's pretty intresting. It makes me want to hear what the rest of the album will be like. The transition from this song to the title track kind of reminds me a little of The Hellion to Electric Eye. I've been making a bunch of Priest comparisons lately haven't I?
  2. Phantom Antichrist: This is a pretty cool song. I like this song. I think that it sounds like a song that I imagine would be on Nuclear Blast. (quick fact I own Symphony X's 2011 Iconoclast which was released on Nuclear Blast). I like the guitar and I like the crunch of it. Thought I like it, I'm hoping this entire album isn't like this. I heard it in June but don't remember much beside I didn't care for the album first time through. I really like the tone of the guitar in the solo. For some reason it vaguely reminds me of Yngwie's 2008 Perpetual Flame (which I really like).
  3. Death to The World: This song reminds me of, don't Slayer's songs on World Painted Blood or God Hates Us All. I feel like there is a message in this song, but I am more interested in the song. The solo is epic sounding with the dual guitars. It vaguely reminds me a little of Set The World On Fire by Symphony off 2007's Paradise Lost (amazing album).
  4. From Flood Into Fire: I do like this song too. The one thing thought, I fear, is that this will contiue this way. Like the similarity  This song reminds me a little of Dimmu Borgir. The solo also reminds me of the solo in the song Through The Fire And The Flames off Dragonforce's 2006 Inhuman Rampage (I also own that Cd, I go back and forth on it). This is totally a Dragonforce type of song. But less "gay".
  5. Civilization Collapse: This song is pretty cool. I kind of think that it is a total thrash song. But who the fuck doesn't like thrash metal!
  6. United in Hate: The beginning of this song reminds me of The Unforgiven, or Nothing Else Matters. I don't think I need to specify were those are from. It's "Kill 'Em Master of Lightning, For St. Justice". Its on that "For Puppets & All" album, right? You know from 1865.
  7. The Few, The Proud, The Broken: The album is kind of starting to get a little repetitive. I'm not dissing the album, but I wish there was a little more variety. At least there was an acoustic guitar in the last song. I do like the breakdown after the solo though. I really like that guitar tone.Wait I spoke too soon, there it is, the Acoustic guitar. It reminds me a little of Killswitch Engage.
  8. Your Heaven, My Hell: I think it's kind of getting a little repetitive :(
  9. Victory Will Come: I love metal, but sometimes some band's just reuse a sound too much. I still like this song, along with the rest of this album, some songs more than others, but yeah.
  10. Until Our Paths Cross Again: I think that this beginning of the song is kind of a good way to end the album. It kind of gives off a vibe that "Victory Has Come". This is a good ending. :)
Overall I have to say, second time through, this gets a 7.6/10. I enjoyed this more then Meshuggah's ObZen or the little of Koloss I heard. There are some cool guitar tones on this album. I enjoyed this album, but it got a little too repetitive at the end. I think that I would be willing to pick this up on CD. I also need to finish up Pleasure to Kill. Tomorrow will see the uploading of my favorite Bowie album. I should probably do a Judas Priest review too.

¡Tré! - Green Day

I have done Green Day's ''trilogy'' albums ¡Uno!¡Dos! and now ¡Tré!. The last two I wasn't huge on. I wasn't expecting to love, or even like this one. I'm not being debby downer, but I didn't expect much of this. Also I think that I'm just gonna try to do 5 a month. I want to do 10 a month, but I'm gonna at least get 5. This is also the longest of the 3, at 44 minutes. the second longest, is the first and it's 41, and the second is 36.
  1. Brutal Love: This song starts out with arpeggios. It kind of sounds like a lullaby. This song kind of fits Christmas, December time. This isn't anything special, but I do like that they have horns in this song. It's nicer than "Kill the Fucking DJ". If if was on the radio I might leave it to hear it.
  2. Missing You: This just sounds like a song from one of the last two. Maybe more so ¡Dos!. I don't think this is anything that I'd probably want to listen to just by choice. So to say
  3. 8th Avenue Serenade: This song reminds me of ¡Uno!. But at the same time this doesn't really sound like Green Day to me. The lyrics might be more like "adolescent" but, I'm a Youth and I think that he kind of should sing about more mature stuff.
  4. Drama Queen: This song isn't that bad, but it's too mellow to be Green Day.
  5. X-Kid: I don't know.... ewh.
  6. Sex, Drugs & Violence: I hope this song isn't as ''cool'' as it's title, that'd be mind blowing. This is a stupid song title. I don't know, whatever. I'm kind of spacing out a little. I kind of just want this to be over. :(
  7. Little Boy Named Train: ..............
  8. Amanda: Billie really has something for naming songs after girls who's names start with A or something. This is better than the last few.
  9. Walk Away: The riff reminds me, a little in the beginning, of Sweet Jane by The Velvet Underground off, I believe, 1968's? Loaded. This song isn't horrible, but maybe that's just the Sweet Jane in my head.
  10. Dirty Rotten Bastards: This song title reminds me of Johnny Cash's song Dirty Old Egg-Sucking Dog off, the only album that I know that it's off, Folsom Prison. FUCK NO! IT"S 6 MINUTES LONG!!!!!! This song isn't so bad at the start. It kind of has a little of the same feeling as Brutal Love. And the tempo changed. :) The Bass riff :), by far, on these three albums, the closest to Green Day I think I've heard. :) This song kicks ass. {8/10} :)
  11. 99 Revolutions: This song isn't a let down, its just a "¡Dos!" ahahahahaha!
  12. The Forgotten: This isn't that bad of a song either. The piano is actually pretty cool. It's like their version of Let it Be.
Overall I have to give this a 6/10. I don't like hating on this band, but I just wanted to give them chance. I'm not a hating on Green Day, I just want to be able to say that they have a few songs that I like, beside the few off Dookie. I kind of think that, along with almost every 80's heavy metal band, time to throw in the towel and call it quits. Track 10 & 12, maybe there's a ray of hope.

¡Dos! - Green Day

I think it's actually pretty funny. Why may you ask, we'll I forgot about the release date of this album. I went to pick up the Trilogy and Music From Another Dimension! and I see the new Green Day album, titled ¡Dos!. It is also the second of three albums coming out between September, 2012 and January, 2013. I did the review of the last one ¡Uno!, and I will probably do one of the next one ¡Tré!
  1. See You Tonight: This is the intro to the album. It's like a minute and a half long. This song kind of reminds me a little of Sublime. Like on the 1998 compilation Acoustic: Bradley Nowell & Friends.
  2. Fuck Time: Really?
  3. Stop When The Red Light Flash: This song wasn't so bad, it kind of reminds me of Know Your Enemy off 2008's 21st Century Breakdown.
  4. Lazy Bones: This is a decent song. I has this surfy vibe that I'm getting from the song. That might just be me, but that's kind of what I'm getting from this song. It also reminds me of These Animals EP.
  5. Wild One: This song reminds me of a Weezer type of song. This is an Ok song. I could see it being on The Blue Album. So far this thing isn't pissing me off like the last one. Either that of Them Animals.
  6. Makeout Party: I didn't really think anything special of this song.
  7. Stray Heart: I could see this song being in a Christmas movie. The song's bass line totally reminds me of Jet's 2003 hit Are You Gonna Be My Girl, off Get Born.
  8. Ashley: I actually couldn't tell the difference between this song and the next song.
  9. Baby Eyes: This is a song I could see being in a Tony Hawk Pro Skater.
  10. Lady Cobra: This song is another song I could see being in that game
  11. Nightlife: This song is way different from the other songs. It has a vocal distortion on it making it sound more ';psychedelic''? There is also a girls voice. I think they were going for a dance floor song.
  12. Wow! That's Loud: This is another song I could see being a Christmas song.
  13. Amy: This song has like finger picked at the beginning. I think it's probably a song that most comparable to These Animals. This song isn't that terrible. I'm not crazy about it, but I think it's ok. It also has that Christmas vibe.
Overall I have to give this a 5/10. I don't like hating on this band, but I just wanted to give them chance. I liked this, but I flew by. Not in a goodway, but more of in a this is kind of boring way. I am going to do the next album though.

Red - Taylor Swift

This is the 4th album by country singer songwritter Taylor Swift. On this album I wasn't sure what to expect. I didn't think much of the We Are Never Getting Back Together single. I actually kind of didn't like it at all. I was nervous to see if the album would be this way. So I am now, today, listening to it for the first time in it's whole. I might listen to it more than once, but I am not sure yet. I have to hear it first. One thing I noticed is that a shit load of people produced for this album. The last album Speak Now only had Swift and Nathan Chapman. On This one there are a total of 9 people credited, one being an executive producer, as producers for this album. And some of the producers have really only produced pop shit. I don't have a good feeling about this, but I'll tough it out... I hope. I do like how her style has changed, as in appearance. I think she looks better with straight hair and not dresses and a ton of make up. I actually think girls look better like the way she does now than almost any other way.
  1. State of Grace: This song starts out pretty promising. I actually think that this is a pretty cool song. It reminds me of The Cure. I know I compare things to that band, but I remember hearing Just Like Heaven a ton while in the car with my Dad. This the backing vocals during the chorus remind me of Eisley. I like the bass sound in the song. I also like how this isn't so country? This song also reminds me a lot of the 2005 Paramore album All We Know Is Falling. That's not my favorite Paramore album, but I still think it's a decent album.
  2. Red: This song starts out, before she starts singing, with what reminds me of '90s music. This song is kind of like a part 2 of the last song. There isn't much of a difference. Her voice is kinda dubbed weird. By that I mean it kind of sounds like its a loop, but a short thing looped. Either that or Auto-tuned. But overall I still like this song.
  3. Treacherous: This song reminds me if the last album. To be honest, this is doing well thus far. This also reminds me of 2009's Misguided Ghosts by Paramore. The "do do do, do do do" reminds me of a song I can't quite think of. This is probably my favorite song on the album thus far.
  4. I Knew You Were Trouble.: When I first heard the intro I was afraid. I heard that's he had dubstep on this album, an well the way the song was it could. It wasn't a stretch for it to be there. I don't think that the drop is Skrillex but it isn't bad. I kind is f like the song. The more I hear it the more it grows on me.
  5. All Too Well: This song kind of reminds me of the last album also. I like the fact that she kept some of the stuff that was on her last album. Also that she isn't all out Fearless on this. I don't know why, but this reminds me of her county friends that are popular, but I think this song. Have you ever heard the song Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue by Toby Keith. I don't care for that song, but it reminds me of it. I also kind of hear a little synth in the background.
  6. 22: All I'm gonna say is this sing is a load if bullshit. I really can't support it are compliment it that much. The beginning of the song...... This is like a Katy Perry's Taylor Swift. I kind of respect that she had a song Fifteen and now 22. But I know how to count.
  7. I Almost Do: This song reminds me of like a solo version of the song I Wish by Eisley. Especially at the chorus of the song. Like when it going "Ooooow, Oooooww."
  8. We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together: This song is an ok song, if it was acoustic. Like if she did it alone with her vocals and an acoustic performance of the song.
  9. Stay Stay Stay: This reminds me of the CVS commercials. I like this song though. It's a pretty cool song. I think she uses a ukulele. I really like the way the bass sounds.
  10. The Last Time: This song apparently features Gary Lightbody of Snowpatrol. I have no idea who that is, but I do know that there is a Stones song called The Last Time
  11. Holy Ground: This is an ok song. I didn't really think much of it.
  12. Sad Beautiful Tragic: This song sounded in the beginning like Linkin Park's song Powerless. Like the first 3 seconds with that open, before the instruments. This is another Ok song.
  13. The Lucky One: This another OK song. I think they are being a little too consistent.
  14. Everything Has Changed: This track features Ed Sheeran. I don't know who he is, but I've heard of him before. I guess it says he co-wrote this with Taylor. I think that this is another Ok song. It is kind of starting to kill the album for me.
  15. Starlight: This song kind of makes me wonder if there is gonna be any dubstep. I like how its set up lik its gonna drop but kind of changes up a little. I'm note huge on this, but its a little different from the last few songs.
  16. Begin Again: This song is a decent ending to the album. I actually like this. I'm suprised, but for some reason I feel like this might become a favorite of mine.
Overall I have to give this a 7/10. This was a lot better than I expected. I planned on not liking this at all. The reason was because of the more commercial shit. We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together is a good song. But the album version kind of sucks. If she did a pure acoustic version that'd be awesome. This album sounded like a country-esque Paramore, for at least a lot of the songs. I plan on getting this CD. No matter what I was gonna buy this Cd, but yeah. I think some of the songs dragged on a little. I also am gonna listen to the deluxe tracks, but not now. I'll give a short sentence or two about them after I hear them.

The Sister - Marissa Nadler

This is the first time that I've ever heard of this girl. She is based in Boston and released her first album in 2004. I found out about her via ListenBeforeYouBuy. I remember when, right before the album was released earlier this year, seeing the choice to stream the album. I think that I don't exactly know what to expect, especially since the album are is kind of cool. I think that it would be cool to have on vinyl to see the album cover. I'm not saying that I'm gonna buy the vinyl because I haven't heard it yet. I can honestly say I don't really know anything about Marissa except that she has like 6 other albums. Well lets get down to it.
  1. The Wrecking Ball Company: The beginning of this song kind of reminded me of an acoustic version of Because by The Beatles and Wicked Games by The Weeknd. I really like her voice in this song. So far this is pretty decent album. But you can't judge an album off one song. After the rest of the instruments come in it reminds me of The Chapin Sisters on their second album Two. I don't know exactly what song, but one of the songs on that.
  2. Love Again, There Is a Fire: This kind of reminds me of a more Eisley-esque version of Sucré. They way Marissa is singing kind of reminds me of Stacy's voice. It also kind of reminds me of the Eisley Family Christmas EP they released in 2010 for free. And added two new tracks for Christmas 2011.
  3. Christine: This kind of reminds me of The Chapin Sisters cover of Toxic on their Shady Lake Ep. It also kind of reminds me of the legendary song Elvis tried to buy off Dolly Parton..... Jolene. So far this thing is awesome.
  4. Apostle: Sorry I kind of got lost in the song. It is a very pretty song. I think that it's pretty cool sounding too. It's kind of like how I get lost in the Elliott Smith 1995 self titled album
  5. Constantine: For some reason I feel like I kind of am hearing Dolly Parton singing this song. Either her of Olivia Newton-John. Not necessarily their style of music, but their vocals. This also kind of reminds me of Irish Music. I'm Irish and I can't stand that music, I try hard to even listen to Van Morrison. But I like this song. This also reminds me a little of 2005's Room Noises by Eisley.
  6. To a Road, Love: The way she is singing reminds me a ton of Stacy on the Sucré song, I wanna say The Cliff Waltz. I could be wrong so I'm gonna check. Actually it almost reminds me more of Wake the Earth by The Honey Trees off their 2009 Wake the Earth ep.
  7. In a Little Town: I don't really know what to say about this
  8. Your Heart Is a Twisted Vine: This sounds like basically what I said before.
Overall I have to say this should rightfully get a 8.5/10. This kind of reminds me of a mix of The Chapin Sisters with Eisley with Merriment (just a little) and probably every other Female Singer Songwriter that is in the field of like "Indie Folk". I don't know why it took me so long to listen to this. Box of Ceder is the Record Label. Shit man, they have a Vinyl version of this. I know what I'm doing when I get a credit card/debit card. I do feel like this will probably only grow on me.

119 - Trash Talk

This is 4th album by Californian Punk Band Trash Talk. I found out about these guys over the summer when they signed to Odd Future Records. They are releasing this on that label, along with their own Trash Talk Collective. Now I don't know much about these guys, mainly because I just want to give this a listen. I did a review yesterday of Numbers by MellowHype, which was released the same day as this one.
  1. Eat the Cycle: This song kind of reminds me of some type of song by Retox. The thing though is, it's not as interesting.
  2. Exile on Broadway: I feel like this is a Stones reference. But whatever, This song kind of sounds like Slayer's song 2001 songs Exile but with more of a punk vibe to it.
  3. My Rules: I didn't even realize this song started. It's sound like the others.
  4. F.E.B.N.: This song is Ok.
  5. Uncivil Disobedience: This song has the punk energy, it's just, I don't really find this interesting.
  6. Blossom & Burn featuring Hodgy Beats & Tyler, The Creator: This song kind of starts out a little different, by that I mean it kind of sounds like "Doom Metal/Sludge Metal"ish. If that makes any sense. I think that Hodgy does an interesting job on the verse on the album. And also Tyler's verse is pretty cool too.
  7. Reasons: Pretty much the same thing, I don't find these songs interesting.
  8. Fuck Nostalgia: This kind of reminds me of a less interesting Motörhead. The title is kind of ironic. So wait, Fuck the Album?
  9. Apathy: ....
  10. Thanks, But No Thanks: At least this is more drum driven.
  11. Bad Habits: .......
  12. Swinging to Pieces: 3 more tracks to go.
  13. For the Lesser Good: Refer to past descriptions
  14. Dogman: It's finally over.
Overall this album shall get a 5/10. This is my introduction to this band and I have to say that I will probably let it be background music. By that I mean I won't put to much thought into listening to any albums by these guys. I think that it sounds like a less interesting Retox album. Also this is way too long. It could have gotten away with 8 songs and been like an EP or something.

Numbers - MellowHype

This is the third release by Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All's group MellowHype. It is made up of Left Brain and Hodgy Beats. It's kind of like, I guess, EarlWolf. Actually it's kind of funny I mention that, because Tyler did some production on this album. The first release , YelloWhite, came out in 2010. The follow up, BlackenedWhite, was released in 2010. In 2011 that same album was reissued, officially not as a mixtape, with a different track listing. I assume its because of some stupid thing called copyright, but whatever. Do I've been, somewhat, anticipating this release. I'm probably gonna review Trash Talk's new album, 119, for tomorrow. So this one is for today One last thing, this is the first time I've heard a MellowHype release front to back.
  1. Grill: The beat is Ok, but It isn't that crazy. The first time hearing this, it isn't anything special to me. I don't know why, but I feel like this song would be a song that might be on Eminem's compilation album thing he did The Re-Ups. I don't like that they keep spelling words out for me.
  2. 65 / Breakfast: I kind of like the keyboard sounding chords in the beginning. I like this beat much more than the last song. I am not crazy on Hodgy, but I still kind of like the song. I kind of like the change where the voices go "uh uh uh uh". I think that that's kind of cool, it kind of reminds me of Christmas. Like this might be a Christmas themed song, I guess? Does that make any sense to anyone but me. This entire song kind of gives me a Christmas music vibe. But not the words. Breakfast kind of reminds me of the ending of Pyraminds on Frankie's new album channel ORANGE. He actually kind of reminds me a little, especially when he says "I'ma touch the sky" of Kanye's song Touch the Sky off his 2005 Late Registration album. You know, the song that featured Lupe.
  3. Astro featuring Frank Ocean: I'm kind of curious about what Frank is going to do on this song. I am not huge on Frank's line "Wear the yellow turn at the Grammy, rock out with my cock out". Beside that, I think that this song is kind of cool. So far this album is kind of getting better. It's not as bad as the first song. I don't hate that song, but I don't care for that song. I really like how Frank sounds. I also like how he mentions Prince. And the part at the end where Frank is singing with the piano, that's awesome. I think the song will only get better. And I also kind of like the original beat plays after Frank's part and to the fade. {7/10}
  4. NFWGJDSH: This drumbeat reminds me of a mix of The Re-Ups intro track Shady Narcotics and the MellowHype song on the last OF Tape Vol. 2 the track 50. I don't care for the ending.
  5. La Bonita: This song kind of starts out interesting. I hope it's nothing like Tenacious D's new song, off Rize of the Fenix, track 4 Senorita. Sorry I don't have that symbol on top of it, but I don't know how to get it. Yeah, I probably won't listen to this song again.
  6. Beat: This song doesn't really keep my intrest that much. I still have 10 tracks. :(
  7. Snare: The thing about this song is, I'm a teenager with a C average, and I can't really relate to this song. Like there is no lever that I connect to the whole feeling of it. The beat is ok.
  8. Untitled L: Ok there's still a good 30 minutes left to this album. This song is not very intresting to me. I like the 007 mention.
  9. Leflair: What?
  10. Monster: The beat on this kind of reminds me a little of Bastard. But the song isn't as good as that album.
  11. 666 featuring Mike G.: I thought that there was a song called 666 on either the original version of BlackenedWhite or YelloWhite. This song is probably easier to listen to than the last few songs.
  12. P2 featuring Earl Sweatshirt: Hopefully Earl can help to save the rest of the album. I think the first P on OF Tape Vol. 2 is better than this song. I still think this is better than most of the album. The beat reminds me of Pyramids.
  13. GNC: I kind of like the sitar sounding think in the song. This song reminds me of  a more intresting version of Lean. I also think Domo is on this track.
  14. Brain: I feel like Hodgy was trying to be Tyler on this track. I kind of like the horn sounds in the song.
  15. Under 2: The beat on this song reminds me of Analog 2. Hodgy kind of sound to me, a little like Em on his first album Infinite. I like this song.
  16. Break: This was a decent song, and I think it was a good way to end the album
Overall I have to give this a 4.5/10. I didn't really care for this thing that much. Track 1 wasn't that good, then track 2 & 3 were pretty good, then it kind of when down hill. Maybe over time I'll be able to enjoy this more, but the few MellowHype songs I've heard before this I didn't care for.

The 2nd Law - Muse

This is the new album by Alternative Band Muse. I like some of their stuff, especially their 2006 Black Holes & Revelations, and I like some other songs that I've heard. I haven't really yet dove into their discography. So I'm going to review this, because I'm curious to how it will sound, and how I like it. Example: I didn't think much of Radiohead, even after hearing the "AMAZING" 1995 album The Bends. But when I gave the different 2011 King of Limbs a try in March this year.... all I can say is I have a CD copy now, and I'm hoping to get a vinyl, and quite possibly like a cassette, and buy it digitally. It is one of my favorite albums ever. Period. So maybe this will do something like that for me. You never know, that's also why I listened to the new Green Day album ¡Uno!, Yeah, it wasn't that good.
  1. Supremacy: I kind of think of like James Bond music, but more of like when Pierce Brosnan was Bond in the 90's. I could very easily see this being a James Bond theme. It would be one of the better one's. This has a very symphonic vibe to it. The one thing I'm not huge on is his falsetto in the song. But beside that, it's a solid tune. I don't know for sure what one, but I do know it would be a cool song for 2002's Die Another Day. Ah, the drums in the background are kind of like the 1963 From Russia with Love's theme by Matt Monroe.
  2. Madness: At first listen I didn't think much of it. Then after a while, and not hearing it, I think that it's better. I read something and it said that this was influenced by Queen's 1984 song I Want to Break Free (which is one of my favorite queen songs). I can totally see how it is. It is kind of, basically, the same set up as the Queen song. I like this though, I think it grows with each listen. You should check out that Queen song if you like this one.
  3. Panic Station: The beginning of this song is even more of an Queen vibe. Like 1977's Get Down Make Love, off News of the World and kind of mixed with Faith No More's early material, espically 1989's The Real Thing. Like the bass for the FNM thing. The Queen-esque vocals are uncanny. I like this song. It's pretty good. If the album keeps this up, then I think that it will be good, and it might make it one the same list as King of Limbs. The part right before the solo kind of reminds me of Peter Gabriel's 1988 song Sledgehammer off the album released that same year So. This is a very synthy song.
  4. Prelude: FUCK! This song is pretty cool. It is pretty, and I could see it being in a soundtrack. And not being one of those shit songs, like a real song. This is an intro to a hell of a song.
  5. Survival: I thought this song was kind of Ok, when I heard it before the album was released, but now I think it's only Ok. I don't think that it's as Epic as it could be. But then again also, after a few more listens it does become more "epic" so to say. I think it's a solid song, and it has a hell of an intro. There is like a choir singing along. This song is definatly much more enjoyable with head phones on. The first two times listening to this song though, I wished it wasn't so "long". And thought I could care less about the Olympics, I think this is a cool song for it.
  6. Follow Me: This song kind of reminds me a little of my favorite song off King of Limbs, track 6, Codex. But it's more electronic and louder. That song kind of reminds me of Coldplay, and this song is kind of like a Coldplayish song. If that in any way makes sense. I can handle this type of dubstep, actually forget the Coldplay thing for this song. I like this song.
  7. Animals: The bass line in this song is pretty sick. It's a smooth song. I think that the guitar sounds cool and I like the way it just is in general. I think that it kind of reminds me of a song on 2006's Black holes & Revelations, but I can't quite put my finger on it. There is like this yelling at the end of the song, I think it's an interesting ending.
  8. Explorers: This song kind of starts out like a lullaby. The title of the song too is kind of like a lullaby too. This song really reminds me a ton of Radiohead, more so The King of Limbs, but this song gets louder. And it is not so looped sounding? I kind of wish I could write a song like this. I really like the instrumental part with the piano and the "ooohhhhsss". I think it's neat sounding. This album has so far slapped me.
  9. Big Freeze: This song is kind of like a "reprise" of the last. Or at least like a new part. I hope that makes sense, because I can understand that. This song kind of reminds me of The Cure. Not the vocals, but the guitars and the upbeatness.
  10. Save Me: I guess the bassist Chrisopher Wolstenholme sings this and track 11. He wrote both of them about his battle with alcohol. And, he isn't that bad of a singer. I kind of like his voice for this song. This song has an atmosphere to it. I like it, and I think it kind of gives a little variety. You aren't hearing Matt's voice the entire album. I like his voice, but a change is always good. The solo is probably my favorite, or almost, my favorite on the album. I love the guitars tone at that solo. And I like the end.
  11. Liquid State: This is like part two. This and the last song were about the bassist's battle with alcohol. These two songs serve as like split personalities. Also I think this is the heaviest song on the album. I think the bass in this song is pretty solid and cool sounding. Chrisopher's voice kind of reminds me of Scott
  12. The 2nd Law: Unsustainable: I think that this is going to be an epic 9 minute finale. I hope that these two songs are pretty good. This is that song that was in the albums promo. I don't like this dubstep. :( Everything up until the dubstep part is pretty cool. Then it gets cool again and sick. But the dub hurts the fuck out of this song for me. It was like finding out the girl your like, who you think is a goody good two shoes, is not a virgin and has been around town.
  13. The 2nd Law: Isolated System: I think that this is a proper ending to an album. A damn good one to. The strings and the electronics going together are just perfect. The beat is like a heartbeat. I'm getting excited and I don't know for what. Ok... wait for it.... and. I don't know how to explain this feeling. It's a hell of a feeling. Well all for sure I know is, I feel like I want to re listen to this thing. Maybe tomorrow chum, maybe tomorrow. :)
Overall I give this a 8/10. I think it's one of the best albums of this year, go out and buy this ASAP. This is, no questions, one of the best album's I've even heard this year. Not just released this year. The songs are so, so, I don't know how to explain it. This album, for me, is just like The King of Limbs. Now I'm gonna really checkout the other Muse stuff. Just get rid of track 12 on this album, or at least the dubstep breakdowns. One last thing, use headphones, it's better that way. Upon revisitation it's only probably about a 7.
