Government Plates - Death Grips

It's been a long time since a review from these guys. I wanted to make sure I never made the same mistake I did with my last. This is the newest release (2013) by Death Grips the controversial band from California. I am a fan of ExMilitary, The Money Store (vinyl and Cd copy), and NO LOVE DEEP WEB was ok at first and has grown on me, and now The Powers That B is my favorite 2015 album. This album was released out of nowhere on November 13th, 2013. I remember I was working at UPS and I got home, checked my email and COS posted new Death Grips album. So..... I downloaded it. I listened to it. At first I wasn't' blown away, but I did like some tunes. As time has passed I was able to more objectively pick out tunes I don't like, vs times I don't get. 

1. You Might Think He Loves You For Your Money But I Know What He Really Loves You For It's You Brand New Leopard Skin Pillbox Hat: This is the opener; and wow, what a name. It reminds me of the Bob Dylan 1966 Blonde on Blonde track of a similar name.  Stupid pointless facts aside this song is scary. It opens with a glass break and the best is pretty intense. I feel like this could be in a remake of "Funny Games". There is an insanity feeling to this tracks, and I really like the power behind this. I mean it's kind of raw. It might not be TPTB, but this could be signs of that craziness. Also my favorite part is the whole keyboard/synth line that sounds like it could have been sampled.
2. Anne Bonny: This title reminds me of Bonny Maroni you know, The Who covered it. This opens with this voice that talks, it kind of reminds me of like a "train cleaving now" voice. The riff is kind of neat, it sounds looped, but I like how it doesn't just repeat. I like the lower notes and wetter sounds in the second verse (or change rather). This track also has some similarities to Lost Boys. Like there certainly is some overlap.  
3. Two Heavens: One in Heaven and one on Earth? Right, that's what it must be about. The hilight of this song for me is the sort of African sounding drums and sped up or pitched up vocals. Like I can picture someone from Africa dancing to that part. Maybe I'm a racist for saying that, but there is a primal feeling I'm getting from it. And some of the sounds sound like sounds from Africa. 
4. This Is Violence Now (Don't Get Me Wrong): Ah, Classic title. No really this makes me want to Break a bunch of Mirrors With My fists and also my Face, In and around The continental United States. I wonder if a sampler was used for the vocals on this track. Eh, who cares it's pretty decent. There is a feeling of uncomfortableness to the track. 
5. Birds: My favorite song on the album, this was also released as a promo single for the album. The guitar player on this song, that sounds like it was sampled, was played by Rob Pattinson. You know of Twilight fame. I love the way the guitar sounds in this song, it sounds like it's almost not being played by a human. It sounds so cut up and almost assembled together. Later on it sounds like a little bird chirping. After that I swear they sampled Forever Dolphin Love by Conan Moccasin. That refrain is pretty catchy, even thought I could see it scaring people away. Great tune all together, nice and Death Gripsian.
6. Feels Like A Wheel: This feels sort of tribal, and it is kind of good. I mean I don't love this, but I think it's kind of interesting none the less. There are some parts where I wish I could hear MC Ride flowing over this. But it's not terrible. This is one of the most interesting tracks in my opinion. 
7. I'm Overflow: I like how the last track and this are almost part 1 and part 2. They flow and it that makes me feel like this would be fitting as a tune by the group. It sort of reminds me a bit of Black Quarterback by way of the Ride flow. This isn't that bad when you listen to it, I mean I don't know if I'll revisit it alone, but it's still not horrible.
8. Big House: This is electronic and it's got some interesting loops, but I mean I don't really know what to say. This kind of makes me want to go to a rave and just start dancing, not literally but you know. While this starts off promising, I feel like it kind of looses it's charm by the ending.
9. Government Plates: The title track, let's see if it's worth of this honor. This is another, its not bad its just not super memorable. I like it while i hear it, but forget it after.
10. Bootleg (Don't Need Your Help): This is kind of funny, the reason is because in music bootlegs are albums that come out or are released before. This is just okay. I guess.
11. Whatever I Want (Fuck Who's Watching): This is very long, but seems like they just looped sections and played one after another. There isn't really a reason this needs to be as long as it is. Maybe if it was a minature like the others it would have worked better but yeah.

Overall I have I give this a 6.5/10. The overall census seems to be a dislike for this album. Now the thing I think is yes, it isn't as awesome as the others. I still think it's better than Fashion Week and that i.l.y's records was just okay. But this is still something that I think has more than a song I like or two.

J.S. - Justin Stockton

This review as to go up on the 2nd of this month but things happen and I wanted to let this linger a little longer before I do any review. So this is the first Ep by my friend Justin Stockton, and was released independently on my label. Now usually I don't like reviewing anything I've touched, but I can give this a go. This is the first release that he's done with acoustic guitar. I want to say this was recorded and released on February 17th, 2014 and the only thing I did was fix digital distortion, and also resize the artwork and convert the mono to stereo. So I didn't contribute in anyway to the material so I can review this. Oh yeah, he also reviewed my album I did. Which by that way, was his best to date. And the first review of anything I've ever done so, yeah life's good.

1. Mary Ann: This opens the EP with a country feeling. It actually sounds like a song that I could imagine being something in the vein of Robert Johnson. Now it's not one of his songs, but very influenced and inspired by. I like that it's only about 1.5 minutes, because the thing about blues is lots of time it can drag on and on and on and on and... you get the point. This song is straight forward and doesn't stay past its welcome. It's also a great way to open this new flavor to incorporate in his material. Also he sings within his range. My only complaint is the vox be clearer, but I can't complain to much because I run into that problem sometimes too.
2. Good Night: Now I talked to him about this song and he told me its dear to his heart. There is a religious aspect in there and this is the deepest he's gotten ever. Thought that chords aren't that drastically different from the prior track, this is the style and I enjoy it. Oh, question Justin is the progression Am-F#m-DMaj. Just wondering if I can hear correctly.
3. Jack: This sounds very similar to Mary Ann, but I think it's a solid track. There is a type of just tongue-n-cheek aspect that I think he did a good job at, but there were certain slips. This reminds me of possibly a cover of a song off Folsom Prison.
4. Gettin' The Blues: This is a good song, just needs to be a little more fleshed out. I think that if he added a guitar solo in there it may have been better, but it's a good track.

Overall I have to give this a 6/10. Now this is by far the best thing he's done yet, it's showed maturation, and is showing artistic growth, which is necessary as a musician. I can't damn him because some of the ideas could have been furthered, this is only his third release. I still make mistakes and fuck up, but he is definatly growing and glad I know him. He's on the right path, also look forward to that album I'm producing for him. PS, click _here_ to go and get a copy yourself. 

God's Father - Lil B

This is the 22nd, or so, mixtape release by rapper Lil B. I reviewed his albums 6 Kiss from 2009, and 2011's I'm Gay (I'm Happy). I have, before reviewing this, listened to it now 3 times. The reason is because I liked I'm Gay until the third listen to it. Because it got boring, but I don't think this one will be the case. Quick note, Brandon has said that everything except Choices and Flowers under the name The Based God is a mixtape. Finally I get to upload this, it's done, it's really done! The next Lil B review I'm gonna do is probably Trapped In The Basedworld, aka this ones follow up.

1. The BasedGod's Layer: This is the introduction to the mixtape. This has like an angelic feeling to it. I heard this song a bunch of times before I listened to the rest of it. I think that this is a really good intro. And I like how the style switches from this and the next track. This is a pretty neat intro for the trip to come. Sit down, put head phones on, relax, and listen.
2. I Own Swag: He raps like Danny Brown on this song. For some reason I sing along with this song, just like I would to a Danny Brown song. Even the terribly sung chorus part of the song is sick. I don't know why, but it just works for me. The beat is trap, but there is a type of thing that makes me sounding industrial. It is like a robot charging up, and computing. The beginning continues the epicness of the prior track. I also laugh at the "faggot" and "fatty" insults. He also does a Jamaican thing that's funny too. 
3. Fuck Ya Money: This is a pretty song more in line with R&B. He's actually staying on beat, which yes it is pretty slow, but still Bs doing it. He's doing it, this 
4. Febuarys Confessions: Another great sample and R&B flavored. He's sing talking/rapping here, but the whole aura of this song makes you believe he is trying to say something. Some lyrics don't 100% make sense but that's ok because it's joyous. It's a happy song, touching. 
5. Buss Em 4 Points: This has awesome strings on this song. Another joy, but instead of pretty joy it's happy joy. Upbeat joy, and the sample, 5 for 5 so far. I want to know these song in the background they are great. 
6. Tropics: The intro is great and a continuation of the joy from the previous track. 
7. Real Hip Hop 2012: This could be a Wu-Tang Clan beat. Now, me saying that sets a bar. By saying that that means you need to flow to kill this beat, and DAMN! He is living up to it. I don't ever recall him doing this good. It's suprising, and this beat is so solid. I'm running out of things to say about this other than this is great and the beat is like Asian sounding. {8/10}
8. Keep It 100: This song reminds me a little of The Lonely Island. The beat is great and part reminds me of the interludes between "The Kardashian" Show or other E! Reality Shows. The strings are pretty great, and I like the digital analog drums sounds. 
9. Fonk Ain't Dead: If the bass drum was slightly different this would remind me of old school hip-hop. This beat reminds me a little, only the atmosphere and female voices and reverb, of Outkast's 1994 debut album. 
10. Feds At My Doh: This is a pretty "gay" beat, but Lil B makes it fun. The 80's sound quality vibe of it is why people make fun of that and the following decade. This is a solid track though and I'm suprised it as enjoyable as it is. It's relatively simplistic and that's probably it's apeal. And there's one of my favorite rappers again. The ending is kind of funny sounding, and I like the added "pinball machine racking up points, arcade" sounds. 
11. Remy: it sounds like an R&B sample with a computer booting up and shutting down. The guitar in here sounds great, it's pretty seductive. I wonder what the original track it's off. 
12. Flowers Rise: This has a little flute thing in it. I could see the being on the bedroom escapades comps. I could also see it being the music to a Super Nintendo Game or Pokemon waiting music in the one for Wii. 
13. God Help Me: This starts with him giving condolences to the ones who've passed. The drums on this are ok, but the sample gives it an intresting feel. It makes me think the woman's calling through the jungle. It's a nice track, a pretty track, a touching one.
14. Breath Slow: The piano on this reminds me a little of X-Men off his 2009 6 Kiss, which I reviewed in the past. This is a trap song, but that piano still makes me think if it. This is one of the weaker songs in my opinion. The reverb on the vocals at the end remind me of The Holy Filament off 1999's California album by Mr. Bungle.
15. I Ain't Neva Won: this song I feel is a little weaker than the prior track. Trust me, the album is 100fold better when you sit the two hours through. 
16. Let It Drop: This actually reminds me more of older hop hop. The beat ad the "wind" sound and guitar sample reminds me a little of Wu-Tang or one of the solo projects. This is a pretty song, that also doubles as good too. 
17. God's Father: This has a mellow kind of sample in the chorus/hook. I feel like the sample during the verses reminds me of something like Mr. Rogers. I don't know why, but I mean that in the best way possible. I think that it has this child feeling to it. And Who doesn't like children. I like the Eminem references to.
18. Be A Star: This sample reminds me of What's Going On, the feeling of warmth  you get from it, or at least a similar one. The title track on that album has this type of introduction where it has the instrumentation come in as there are people talking. Then the strings through out the track reminds me of a song on that album. I'm not exactly sure if it's a certain track, but the style more so. This has pretty arpeggios in it. 
19. Deep Ass Thoughts: The guitar sampled here is pretty, and the theme is neat here. I don't know why, but I feel Brandon isn't lying, or bending the truth. The chorus is kind of funny here. 
20. Go Dumb Tonight: This song samples a soul song that reminds me of Motown. The way it is though   Is pretty glamorous. He is also rapping here at a pace and is doing an accent, a funny one, at party. He sounds Jamacian kinda. This is a funny song and a great sample. The horns on this sound great. 
21. Bitch I'm Bussin: I like the ambience to the sample. The beat isn't so ambient, but I think the combination of the two kind of work. It kind of sounds like underwater parts in "Donkey Kong Jr Country" or whatever it's called. You know, for Super Nintendo.
22. Glourious BasedGod: The great electronic discharges in the intro rock. I enjoy the sound of it and like the way the he's rapping on the track. This is a solid track. 
23. See Ya: This song has the type of beat that I would imagine on a Basket Ball game. Like Holy Calamity by that one Handsome Boy Modeling School. I like this and think its funny.
24. Flash: This is probably the most A$AP he gets here, even dropping his name. Except the bass might not be in an Rocky song, you know the underwater bass. Pretty epic sounding. 
25. The Deal: this intro reminded me a little of Death Grips with more minimal beats. This is very minimal, but B isn't scaring me. That doesn't mean he's doing a bad job though. 
26. Pain: This has another guitar in it. There are also doorbells, or shall I say some M3 intervals..... hahahaha. This is another good song, like I said earlier I can't find any bad tracks. 
27. Secrete Obsession: This song features an upbeat 80's sample. This song kind of talks about when he first started rapping. When he was in PE in 6th grade and they wanted to see who was better. This song is actually, though I can't relate because of the rap part, it is pretty cool that's the way it happened. Better than Last Call. 
28. Turned Me Cold: This is another fanominal Track all around and just pumps me up. In this song he samples the 2011 track Man Down by Rihanna and lowers it. I really enjoy this track and think it's pretty great. I like how it alternates between funny, kind of serious, then at the end funny again.
29. Sf Mission Music: The piano in it reminds me a little of TC. I actually really like this track a lot. This also has some pretty electronics in there.
30. I'm Just Livin: I like the fun feeling to this song, and also the welcome vibe of it. I also like that percussion sample in there, it's very pretty sounding. This is another very fun song.
31. Words Not Spoken: This track reminds me of The Real Slim Shady by Eminem. I actually wouldn't be suprised if he sampled that song in this track. This is a pretty solid track.
32. Wake Up Mr Flowers 3mix: This song has a jazzy intro, then it goes into a hip hop thing. The sample in this song is pretty cool, and I like the instrumentation there, especially the way the keys sound. This is kind of like BadBadNotGood, well at least more or less.
33. Water Is Dmg: I really think the strings on this are pretty cool sounding, and they make this epic book closer effect to the next track when heard front to back. This is the perfect way to kind of sum up the mixtape. I like that he starts the mixtape out with a dreamy song, and ends it with a louder dreamy track.
34. I Love You: This is the outro. I don't know if he is singing on this, or if he is just talking. The thing is that this is a touching song. It kind of reminds me of the ending of Sesame Street. It is just pretty relaxing, even though he can't sing very good. I can't really explain this unless you hear it. It is the, no exaggeration, best possible way he could have ended this 1 hour and 56 minute long mixtape. I was surprised to see this sampled a Final Fantasy song.

Overall I think this thing is really good. I think it's a 9/10. Part of the reason I like this so much, probably, is because I'm Gay didn't really change style. This changed styles like it was various artists. By that I mean that this seems like a 34 track record label sampler, but some artists appear on this more than once. The thing too about Lil B is that he is so fricken happy. How, I want to know your secret. Not literally, but seriously who doesn't want to love life. This thing is good because you can tell he put his heart into the more touching songs. He didn't just bs and make stuff up. One more thing, though it's two hours long, it's best when you hear it front to back. It kind stinks about it being two hours, but it is well worth it and after time 2 it went by faster each time. I have to also apologize for the 3/10 rating on I'm Gay, I took him a little too serious and wasn't as open minded and didn't know Brandon as much as I do now. But this shows that confidence is the key to making people believe in you. There isn't a single track on here where he isn't completely confident in what he's saying that. I applaud you Brandon. I want him to release an instrumental version of this, I'd like to listen to that too. But in all honesty, I can't stress the front to back aspect of it for me. It's way better that way. 

Acid Rap - Chance The Rapper

This is the second mixtape by rapper Chance The Rapper. His debut mixtape, 10 Day, was released last year. This one is different. I'll explain more though later. I'm gonna review that too.

1. Good Ass Intro: This song reminds me a little of Cee-lo Green. But his voice also reminds me a little of Danny Brown, in the very beginning. But as the track progresses it does sound like something soul, something that reminds me a little of Fuck You. It's a pretty exciting way to start this mixtape off. This is a beat of a song I could see being in a gospel song. 
2. Pusha Man: This song has stops in it. I like that. I think this song is different enough from track one. I'm not sure who of the features is who, but they remind me of, in order of appearance, Yella Wolf and A$AP Rocky. Though this is a long song, it is kind of justified. Maybe it could be 5 minutes long instead of over 6, that doesn't really matter though. This is pretty much two song. In part two of the song his, I don't know if its Chance or Nate or Lili K.,  accent (s)he is trying in this song reminds me of, in the beginning, Bradley Nowell's vocals where he tries a Jamaican impression. I do like the the verses and think this is a good song. I enjoy it. 
3. Cocoa Butter Kisses: The key flares remind me of the atmosphere in Siberian Breaks. The beginning of this song has a rotor organ in it. That's what is often used in soul/gospel type music. Better described as "Black Church Music". This is a pretty smooth song, and good. When he says the title of the song, and the flares there, bring me back to channel ORANGE. That is also another album that I could see being clumped into that. His voice reminds me a little of Ocean. 
4. Juice: In this song he's doing a Jamaican accent thing. This song has a tad of reggae. Maybe it's just me, but I can vaguely hear it. This is a pretty good song. 
5. Lost: This song doesn't do much for me. It's fine, but you know, I'm not huge on it. It's nothing different than what I've heard this far on this tape. I've never heard of Noname Gypsy but I think she kind of good on this song. I don't want to jump to conclusions, but yeah. 
6. Everybody's Something: This song reminds me a little of C.R.E.A.M. and Em's 1996 Infinite. This is a pretty solid song. I think it's pretty great, that's Eminem's best, Pre-Eminem Show. 
7. Interlude (That's Love): This beat is great. I actually really like this song. It's upbeat, and exactly what I need right now, you know. Who doesn't need to hear that, I love you, every once in a while. 
8. Favorite Song: There is a delayed guitar on this track. It isn't my favorite but it's a solid song. I think that this is a cool song. Gambino also does a good job on this. I don't care much for what I've heard from Gambino but this is a sick guest spot. 
9. NaNa: Action Bronson's on this. I actually need to review Rare Chandlers. This song is ok, but it's not doing much more than just Action's spot, which isn't really anything that is awesome like some of the cooler songs I've heard by him.   
10. Smoke Again: The horns in the beginning remind me of, sonically, Set The World On Fire's trumpets in the beginning of that song. The deep rap reminds me of A$AP Rocky. I like this song.
11. Acid Rain: This is a slick song. I think it fits at the end of the mixtape. This has these guitar slides in the background. This is a great ending. 
12. Chain Smoker: This is the second to last track. The woman's "ah ah" reminds me of Pump Up The Jams. This is a pretty smooth song. This is a pretty, for the most part, a relaxing song. I enjoy the keys/piano is pretty cool. 
13. Everything's Great (Good Ass Outro): This is kind of neat at touching. It reminds me of Lil B. He had a song where he talked to someone over the phone. This is a good ass Outro, not as good as the intro, but it fits. 

Overall this mixtape will get a 7/10. This thing is more interesting than 10 Day. Which is a good thing, I hope he continues to improve on his mixtapes, and he'll do fine. I don't really have much more to say about this mixtape. But looking forward to his next one to come.

Girls Girls Girls - ShowYouSuck

This is a EP by Chicago Rapper ShowYouSuck. I'm not huge on the name, but whatever. This is produced by Stefan Ponce. Now I do have to say that I have to give a Chi Town artist some love, so I'm going to review this EP today and I'll try to make up for last month. I really dig this artwork. Me, a huge Bond fan, can get with this homage to 1965's Thunderball. He also has other mixtapes he's released

1. Girlfriend: Ok lets start out. I like how this song starts out with a kind of a punch. But I'm not huge on this track. What I think that helps though it that there is an actual guitar in this song, not some Midi. He does rap fast on this. I feel like his voice kind of reminds me of Kanye a little with the "Ehhhhh"s
2. John Waters: This song has an Italian feeling to the beat. I'm not huge on the lyrics, just the sound. He is pretty fast.
3. Mediocre: I've heard this song, now, twice. I think that it's a good song. The flow is not lazy, but I think it's pretty cool sounding. I think his voice sounds a little like Lil B. But Lil B that has a flow. And the Hook in the song has this sick ass background that I love. After the hook it's him and a piano. I think it's really cool. I like this song a lot.
4. Girls, Nachos: The beginning of the song, like the very beginning, reminded me of the Goblin album. Which, now, I don't know how I feel about it. It doesn't last that way for long, but still. The hook kind of reminds me of Pitbull or Lil B in the beginning of the MySpace Collection Mixtape. I think that Pitbull is Ok, espically some of the Key of Awesome parodies of him.
5. All Love Everything: The beginning of this song, like the first two seconds again remind me of Goblin, up until the song actually starts. This song still reminds me of a Lil B with a better flow.

Overall I have to give this a 7.8/10. This guy reminds me of like Lil B or Lil Wayne. But he isn't hilarious or abnoxious, in order. I like it. I think that it's a pretty fast, easy listen. I think that you should just check it out for the hell of it if you feel like it. He also gives me a Kanye vibe. I don't care much for the lyrics, mainly because I'm not going to decider them, just listen.

Thursday - The Weeknd

This is the second mixtape release by The Weeknd. Now I was timid to listen to this, because I just felt like this one wouldn't be very good. I don't know why, but that's what I felt. I do like that the cover is very colorful. It is kind of friendly and welcoming. I feel very IDK on the way that this thing might be. I have listened to Lonely Star a couple times, I'm not crazy about it, and The Birds Part 1, which I like a lot. This was released in August 18th, 2011. I started this review on May 2nd, 2012.

1. Lonely Star: This sounds like it would be a better quality version of a song that I would have heard on House of Balloons. I don't exactly how to feel about this song. I feel like this would be a song where I could listen to it if I was going to listen to the mix-tape front to back. And at the end of the song he says the days of the week. I don't think that that's a good way to start off a mix-tape.
2. Life Of The Party: This song is just talking about, pretty much, how high he is. And is trying to convince a girl to join him. It's either that or she is high and she could be "tripping out" while they talk to her. The song actually does give you that feel of a song that would be a song where they tried to convince a girl to do drugs in some movie. The beat in this song feels "evil". Like I could picture, in a way, a part in a movie like Being For The Benefit Of Mr. Kite from the movie Across the Universe. I actually liked that movie and that was kind of an introduction to The Beatles for me. I'm not comparing it to that, but I'm giving an idea of what it is kind of like. The "tripping out" idea that I had kind of reminds me of Alice In Wonderland. This isn't amazing, but it's still a good song.
3. Thursday: This has that House of Balloons vibe to it. I don't think that it is that terrible. Like this could be a rerecorded, better quality,  leftover that didn't make the cut for House of Balloons. Beside the idea of the better quality to it, it still reminds me of a song off House of Balloons. This song seems like it could grow on me if I give it a couple more listens.
4. The Zone: This has this, I might be crazy but, reggae vibe to the beat. [:( ] Please don't kill me if I'm wrong. That's just what I got out of this song the first time through. Also the chorus/hook is "I'ma gonna touch you". So the ideas that come to mind are, is he talking advantage of her, is this "touch" mutual. I don't know, but I do like this song. It could have been on the last mix tape. I know I've made a million comparisons to House of Balloons but that is the only other mix-tape I've heard front to back. I have heard all of Echoes of Silence but in all in order. Also I guess Drake is on this song. I think that his rap is actually pretty cool. I like The Weeknd on the song Crew Love off Drake's 2011 album Take Care. I didn't like Drake's part on that song though.
5. The Birds Part 1: This song is awesome, the beginning is kind of a build up. I don't think that it is a good build up though. It's not until the other instruments come in that it is cool sounding. This is a classic Weeknd song. I really love this song and the more I hear it is gets a little better. The instruments in the beats are sick. It feels like this song is a march and that he is singing this in with a marching band, but a cool one. I could see this being played at a big arena. I don't get the arena feel is exactly reached, but I could see this being a song that is played at an arena.  Thus far this is my favorite song on this mix-tape. There is like an outro where it is just Abel backing vocals and an acoustic guitar. I think that that's a really sweet ending.{9/10}
6. The Birds Part 2: The song starts out with a girl making sounds. Not sex noises but like giggles. The guitar that is in the instrumentation kind of reminds me of Bang Bang by the one and only Nancy Sinatra. The song progressively builds up, adding more instruments and horns and move backing vocals. I defiantly see this being a part 2 to The Birds. There is a really high pitched voice buried in the mix for like a chorus, kind of like the Beach House samples on House of Balloons. You can hear him light up a joint in this song. This thing is actually growing a little more on me. He uses a some of the lyrics from High for This in this song.
7. Gone: This kind of reminds me of the second part of The Party & The After Party. It also kind of reminds me of The Knowing. I feel like thoses songs are either fillers, or it's supposed to be like this is his high. The one thing I wish though was that it wasn't 8 minutes. This is the longest song to date that he has done. It's actually like of like a flip flop The Party & The After Party. The difference though about it is that it would be like The After Party & The Party. This could have been on House of Balloons.
8. Rolling Stone: This has this Spanish guitar intro to it. There are also bongos and stuff in it. This is actually the songs that I needed after Gone. This song also has theses like beads in that backgrounds that make it sound a little like rain drops. The beads kind of remind me of something a little kid would make in kindergarten with the paper towel roll and the rubber bands and raw noodles inside it. I really like this song, but I feel like 4 minutes is a little long. There is this distortion that comes in at the last like 30 seconds and ends the song.
9. Heaven Or Las Vegas: What I wanted was a The Knowing feeling to it. This song has this epic ending type of feel to it. It's either that or the fact that this is over. For some reason this song makes me want to relisten to this thing. Kind of like a repeat you know.

Overall I have to give this mixtape a 9/10. This album gives me this kind of theme to it. The same thing about House of Balloons. But the thing on this one was the shit went down on Thursday. On House of Balloons it could have gone down on any day of the week. I overall liked House of Balloons more than I did this one, though this has potential. The thing about Abel is that these songs are good, but they are best, at least for me, front to back, and need multiple listens.

The Human Abstract - 2bit

Isaac Toews, also know as his producer/rapper name 2bit, is  . He has 12 releases in his discography, available on his Bandcamp page. This includes Remix albums, Eps, Albums and Singles. This is his latest release and it came out last April. It says, on his FaceBook page, that he's been doing this since 1993, and his first release, at least on Bandcamp, She, Him, Me, Them was released May of 2008. A quick mention, that is an awesome album. He doesn't rap on that album, but there is a woman singing over the beats. It kind of reminds me of Zoey Deschanel singing, either that or the voices in the beginning of The Resident's 1988 concept album God In Three Persons, I also suggest that to listen to also. It's probably the creepiest, for me, album I've heard thus far in my life. Back to 2bit, this is an EP and I will begin to review it.

1. Stars: This has a beat that kind of reminds me of Aesop Rock's new 2012 Skelethon. That wasn't my favorite Aesop album, but I still enjoyed it. The beat wasn't thought as "agressive" as Aesop on that album. It was more of a mellow beat. This is a good intro to the Ep. This is a sweet song, it has this type of feeling that makes me want to fall asleep, but it is also kind of eerie. This is really good and I enjoy this song. It is also pretty deep. There is a voice in the background that is distorted and it's pretty cool sounding.
2. Holes: Thus far in the Ep I have been able to kind of picture him as a type of Aesop Rock. This is really good. The beat on this reminds me of The Weeknd, but this guys voice is clean and not hear to hear, so to say. Like it is clear and not in the mix. This is a good songs too. I think that it is short, but it leaves its mark, for me at least.
3. Monkey: I love the line, "Your attention deficit has to be paid soon, it's well over due." The way he has a poetry slam in the song, so to say, it reminds me a little of Jim Morrison of the legendary 60's band The Doors. I love The Doors thought some of their stuff I'm not as huge on as other. This is defiantly my favorite song. I don't know exactly why, but this song is really sick. It has a beat on it that almost, beside maybe the distorted guitar part, of Daft Punk. But maybe then again the might do something like that... what ever. The point it that he kills the song, and he uses a beat that very much reminds me of Daft Punk. After re-listening a few I thought that it reminded me of the set up of The Doors 1978 album An American Prayer. The song it most reminds me of is The Ghost Song, which has Jim's voice reading poems and the rest of the band wrote music to go along with it. I think that is a sexy song that I would make love to.
4. The City: This song really reminds me a bunch of 2003's Welcome to the Western Carpet World by the Avant-garde Metal band from California Ballistico. I know I talk a lot about them, but I do like them. They were the only other band who released an album on Bucktan Records. The other one was Pinkly Smooth, one of my all time fav's. I think that he sampled Lana Del Rey on this song, because it sounds like her voice at the ending, right before the very quick fade. I said the last song was my favorite, this is a close second. The beat on this has a fat feeling for some reason.
5. Little Bird: This song also kind of reminds me of Ballistico's singer Ben Stub who has released an album under his name on iTunes titled Whirlpool of Sadness in 2009. There is a squeaky voice singing the "hook" of the song. It kind of reminds me of The Weeknd exempt this is more clear and easier to hear the songs. That voice also kind of reminds me of, in the best way possible, Lil B's mix tape God's Father but the soft, and pretty songs. I like this guy more than Lil B and think he is a better musician/rapper, but I don't want to rip on Isaac. Just want to get that straight.

Overall I really enjoyed this 9/10. I was hoping that I could do this in one listen. That didn't work that way. Though it took me one listen to enjoy it, I had to re listen to some Aesop Rock albums to get a better hold of my thoughts on this. I honestly think that he reminded me of Aesop Rock, the white guy, not A$ap Rocky. And it's not just because he is also white, it's because of his intelligent words. I did download this free, thought it's pay what you want, as soon as I get the money, I WILL PAY MONEY for this Ep, and some of this others to. I suggest that you do the same. Wow I am stupid, he did remix the whole album She & Him 2010 debut Volume One. Hence the name. One last thing, thank you to who ever asked me to review this, I really enjoyed this. :)

Work/Sleep EP - The Appreciation Post

This is another band that I found out because of FrostClick and this is their Ep that was released March 2010. These guys are from Boston and started up in '05. They are like a pop=punk/synth-core band, as said on their FaceBook page. So why not give these guys a try, for funzies.

1. The Beating of a Lifetime: This song starts out very poppy. But it has this "bubble gum" happiness to it. The synths give it that feel. They lyrics aren't as happy feeling and the melody. Damn it,  I hope this isn't the whole Ep. The breakdown of the song has an electronic drum in it. This song is too pop feeling to be a punk song.
2. I'm No Sure Thing: This song starts out worse than the last song. This song is kind of like the last song, but I don't think that it's as happy. This has a feeling of Dying is Your Latest Fashion in the vocals and the melody. What kills it is the synth. Its buzzing is abnoxious to me.
3. Doom & Gloom: This song doesn't really show that much of a difference between this one and the last one. There is a part that reminds me of the first album by Escape the Fate, but it ends to fast. If they had that part a little more than maybe it'd be better.
4. No Songs Is Good Songs: This song has a new Weezer feeling to it. That doesn't feel good, it doesn't have a good feeling for me. Yeah this sounds like a more winy Weezer.
5. Better My Future: This is the closest the guys have come to a Punk vibe. The bad thing is that this is just under 40 seconds and is an intrelude.
6. Fear Of Loss: Then this song starts and contiunes that punkish vibe from the last track. The vibe is killed by the synth. The drum roll doesn't even help these guys out.
7. Moving Backwards: Yeah this is the best part, # the ending is near. :(

I have to give this a 3/10. This is the first time that I'd ever heard anything by these guys. And to be honest I don't like this type of music. They sound like some random band on Epitaph Records. I think there is only 2 or 3 bands ever on that label that I like, ETF and FIR. It just doesn't work for me, I can't explain any more than, it just bugs me. I hope they make it onto Epitaph. Hey it's only 18 minutes so....

The Portable Cypher Volume 1 - Brock Berrigan

This is some download that I just downloaded because I thought the album cover was kinda goofy. I thought, getting into this, that this would be like a hip-hop album or something that I wouldn't really like but well, you'll see how I was wrong. What I am going to say about this is, that it completely kicked my ass.

1. Brandy of the Damned: This song kind of reminded me of a song that I could see being in Kill Bill. One of the parts where she is in Tokyo, in Vol. 1, and the bride in walking through the club is in O'ren Ishii's in. If you didn't know that's my favorite movie EVER!!!!!
2. Geronimo: This song could also kind of be in that to, possibly. I'm not sure, but I could see this being a song that kind of reminds me of Sweet Cream (Redux) off the the Crank High Voltage soundtrack Mike Patton did back in 2009. I love that song, this reminds me of it because of the drums and stuff.
3. Orchestrated Mad Man: This beat sounds like a new updated, hip/underground, James Bond song. I could see this playing while he is walking thought a Casino in on of the movies and is about to meet the bad guy for the first time. There is eve
4. Breakfast with a Stranger: This is defiantly a song that I could see being in like a revamped '60s James Bond classic. Maybe a movie like Thunderball. I might just be crazy, but this gives me this ocean, underwater feel. One that is portrayed through Thunderball.
5. Dragon's: This song starts with an older woman singing "A dragon once lived on the side of the mountian". The thing that's cool about her saying that is that her voice moves back and forth pretty fast alternating between left channel to right channel.
6. Get The Message Out: This song is like a song that I could see being in an action movie. Possible like Crank. There is a ballin feel to it where I could see it on that basketball video game Dan the Automator did back in like '08-'09 one of those.
7. Paddy's Pub: This song has this girl voice in the background that reminds me of The Resident's song Burn Baby Burn. The rest of the song has this smooth, jazz feeling. Like its slick cats. If you know what I mean.
8. The Headless Horseman's Rampage: This song has that eerie feel to it that makes me feel like it would reminds me of an eerie scene in a movie. I think there it a clip from Ricky Bobby in that song, but I'm not sure.
9. Coffee and Bacon: This is defiantly a song where I could see it fitting the morning where they are planning and it is starting to flow, and the story line gets interesting. This could be in like Pulp Fiction or a Quentin Tarentino movie. Actually I think this would fit into Kill Bill Vol. 1 perfectly. It definitely has that chill feeling, relaxed and layed back.
10. Long Strange Evenings: I don't really know how to explain this track, You have to listen to this. I think that the name fits it. It is a cool track. This song is also very chill, and I think that it has a lot of keys in it more so, if that makes sense. I love the way the keys sound for it to. This is a sick ness.
11. Yesterday's Hero: This song is really cool. It sounds like the rest of the tracks, but it is more big, like orchestra sounding big. This song is really cool and has this sample of someone singing under the mix, but it's buried in the mix. The guy singing sounds like he is screaming to get out, and that works perfect with the fact his voice is so buried in the mix. This would be an amazing way to end a movie. And to top it off this is ten seconds short of being one minute longer than the second longest track at 2:46. This is probably the best track and an amazing way to end. The song kind of cuts off. One of the best endings of like, Ever. {11/10}

Overall this was a 9.7/10. It was awesome, I very much so suggest it if you like instrumental music. Also it you like music with a jazz feel to it. Or if you like Mike Patton's solo soundtrack work or that Lovage album he did with Dan the Automator in 2001. This actually reminds me of the instrumental version of that album, a ton. It's kind of hard to explain these type of soundtrack albums . I really like this, and I am definitely going to pay for all of his stuff, as soon as I get a debit card.

Vacation - Bomb The Music Industry!

This is the 7th album by indie music collective from New York. They are from NY, ie place that doesn't really bring that much musically. Well outside of maybe Zorn. But I don't really like bands like this, or music like this, so I am kind of not expecting anything huge.

1. Campaign For A Better Next Weekend: I went into this not expecting to like it. This song kind of shook my feelings, not a ton, but made me feel like I might like it. This wasn't that amazing of a song but if this was like the rest of the songs this would get a decent review score. This song gave me a feeling of Coldplay so I was kind of excited. And the song builds.
2. Vocal Coach: This song totally sounds like a Weezer song. Absolutely everything, outside maybe the vocals, sound like Weezer. They even have that little xylophone sound that reminds me of Pink Triangle off 1996's Pinkerton. I can't explain how similar it is.
3. Everybody That You Love: This sounds like a punkish song that might be in a Tony Hawk video game. And outside of the vocals I get this feeling of Christian rock, for some reason. But that Christian thing isn't through out the whole song, only the beginning of the song.
4. Sponge Board/Baby Waves: This could be a cover of Our Prayer off The Beach Boys 1969 20/20 but was intended to be on the 1967 lost album Smile. Which has been released as a boxset featuring some of the takes of the songs.
5. The Shit That You Hate:  The beginning of this song reminds me of Green Eyes off the 2003 A Rush of Blood to the Head by Coldplay. But that changes when they add electronic thing playing along with the vocals, and the feedback at that one part. Then they add strings and remove the feed back. This song is what I assume a ballad. The lyrics aren't that amazing, but I don't think that all of Weezer's lyrics "sound" that good. This song builds and is "epic?". Not for me, but maybe for you. The vocals on this just hurt it for me, a lot.
6. Hurricane Waves: This has a surf rock feeling to it. It is a typical one that I think you can tell that it doesn't sound that new.
7. Sick, Later: For some reason the like hook in this song reminds me of the theme song for that Victorious TV show on Nick. I have seen it in the past, mainly because sometime my sister has it on and I'm not doing anything. I don't watch it all the time, just on occasion, but then again who doesn't do that if they have a younger sibling. But anyway this song doesn't give me anything fresh.
8. Why, Oh WHy, Oh Why (Oh Oh Oh Oh): This song reminds me of like The Cure. I don't get exactly why, but it does. This song doesn't sound that far off from the last track.
9. Savers: As this progresses this starts to get repetitive. And it's a little too repetitive. The last 3 songs before this kind of sound the same. They add strings in this song, but it doesn't do anything at all for me.
10. Can't Complain: This has the feeling that I get from Hurts Like Heaven off 2011's Mylo Xyloto album by Coldplay. The difference, biggest, is there isn't as much electronics going on in there. I am glad that there is a little variation at this part. There is no need for swearing on this song, or on anyother songs on this album. They just put it in there for "shock value". And It isn't that sharking. The ending has this voice sample that I'm not gonna talk about cuz it's dumb, just remember that.
11. Everybody That Loves You: By this song I'm kind of looking forward for this thing to end.
12. Sunny Place Shady People:  This is like the electronic 8-bit solo for the last song, then they add in other instruments. The way this song ends sounds like they sampled Ronnie from Escape the Fate and more recently Falling in Reverse voice.
13. Felt Just Like Vacation: This is just a continuation on the last song. I think that the last three songs were supposed to be like a big melody. The ending of this album is ok, and it is a good way to sum everything up. There is like a 2 minute outro of an arpeggio that sounds like it getting out of tune. I think it sounds sweet. Nice way to end the album/vacation.

Overall I can't say I really liked this. I have to give it a 6.2/10. I think that this is something that people might like, and I kind of see it having potential, but I just don't like it. This thing is a big "Jumble Fuck" of genres, in a good way. Each song sounds different from each other. But then again, they are from New York. So, I got it free at their website/tumblr and I think you should give it a listen. I do want to review their future/past stuff to. So look forward to that. One last thing, the backing vocals kind of remind me of the choruses on a Bang Camaro song. This band also gives me this NOFX vibe, the vibe that makes me very much dislike NOFX.

An Offer Of Moonlight - Eisley

This is one of the many studio sessions that the wonderful Daytrotter has done. I fricken love that website. You should go there and join it, because it has a ton of bands that I like, and didn't know about before. There are also some bands/artists that I knew about and was suprised about Danny Brown, Max Bemis, Wayne Kramer, MGMT, Sucré amoung others. So this is the one they did with Eisley. I was like, crap, I couldn't believe it. The best part, this was released today. So I couldn't help but to do this. This is the second Review I've do for Eisley.

1. Laugh It Off: This is like a more of a version that would maybe on something Pre-Room Noises. Like the way the song is. I think that this isn't as Epic as the album version of it. But I still think that this is a pretty neat version. This is more of a peaceful version. This isn't a cool sounding or powerful and delivered with so much emotion. The Ep version is more like "into" it.
2. Mister Moon: This song has the keys more present. In the studio version of the song the keys and vocals are mixed together, kind of. This version the keys "drag" the notes out. Not the song, but the notes seem longer. This version has no drums, which is part of what makes that song so... the way it is. The nice thing about this version is it's a bit more easy to understand the lyrics. I think that this is just a pretty and different take for this session.
3. Ambulance: This sounds like the acoustic version on the deluxe edition of The Valley. This song has version of the songs has more of an atmosphere to it, if that makes sense. Actually it is the same version that is on the deluxe version. This is more of a layed back version. It only has vocals, keys, and acoustic guitar strums. It's a pretty version, I like the album version more, but that's my opinion
4. 192 Days: This song is like a tones down version. If that makes sense. I think that there is electric guitar in this song, but it's isn't in the background. This song sounds like it's more "Live" than the produced version on Deep Space. I like this song, but I think there is part where it is hard to think about the 2009 Fire Kite Ep demo version. Because I like the 2012 Deep Space Ep version more. My favorite part is that this sounds like a non produced version that they would actually play

Overall I have to give that a 7/10. This is more of a quiter version of their songs, and live performances. I saw them live and they had more energy. I don't think that they used electric guitars. When they do things like this it's usually just Sherri, Stacy and Chauntelle. This is a pretty cool sounding thing. Its like looking at their songs, if they had an MTV Unpulgged, that's not the reason they do it like that, but you can look at it like that. 

Hunt Club Lp - Hunt Club

This is a band a group that I found out about via FrostClick. These guys seem to me like they would be folk or alternative rock or possibly even Indie. I don't know yet but based on the album cover that's what I get out of this. I think that this might be an intresting listen.

1. Knife Fight: The song starts out with an accordian, after the accordian intro a guitar comes in with the rest of the instruments. The verses are bass and drum driven. This sounds like this is an irish band. Unfortunatly I can't stand Irish music. The even sadder part is I'm pretty irish The ending of the song reminded me of System of a Down.
2. Mister Blue: This song kind of reminds me of Green Day rebellion, Irish pride, Lincoln Park. All music that i strongly dislike. This also sounds like it has a touch of Dropkick Murphys.
3. Drowning Man: This song starts out and it kind of reminds me of something that I would hear from like a thrash band. Well, at least an atempt. This sounds like they are trying to make this sound evil, but it's not doing it for me. This actually reminds me of a cheezy atempt to make a songs like Black Ssabbath's self titled song. This song kind of picks up, there is a part where it gets kind of cool sounding. I think that the vocals hurt this song, but then Punk vocals come in and it's actually pretty decent. And the song ends with a very cool guitar sounding riff. Kind of, at least the same idea as, Avenged Sevenfold on their song Turn the Other Way how the riff ends out with the song off the 2001 debut Sounding the Seventh Trumpets.
4. Punch Line: After hearing that last song, I realized that to enjoy this, you can't take it too seriously. This song is kind of cool, but its also kind of silly. This almost reminds me of My Name is Mud by Primus.
5. Spike: This is like a really cool continuation of the last song. I think that this LP has gotten better since I've waited to listen to it. This is a punk song, but it kicks butt. Seriously, I'm digging this song. There is a part when the song slows down and there are like Gregorian chants, sick.
6. Cappuccino: The intro sounds like a mix of Led Zeppelin/Whipping Post, that song by The Allman Brothers. I don't think the beginning of this song is as cool as the last one, but I still like it. There is a "scary/tripy" guitar sound and it is accompanied by other instruments. This song seriously could be a Pinkly Smooth/Ballistico song. There is this beautiful piano sounding part in this song that  brings a tear to my eye. It has this oprea voice that sings along with it and that is pretty much what ends the album, until this feedback comes in and pretty much engulfs everything else.

Overall after relistening to the first two tracks and then hearing the whole thing, I give this a 7/10. I can't wait to review the Live one they did. I feel like this is a mix of Southern/Punk/Primus so to say. I don't know, just give the whole thing a listen or two. The guys voice kind of reminds me a little of Ben from Ballistico. I don't know why, but only at certain parts.

Wounded Healer - The Followers

This is the first time that I've ever heard of these guys. I saw a link to download this album off NoiseTrade for free. And the album cover is also intresting, so why not give it a try. It said that these guys are from Portland Oregon. It also said that the genre, that was there when I put it on my iTunes, was Neo-Gospel. I don't exactly know what that means but they started at a Church.This was released May 5th, 2012. And one last thing, if you like this you can buy it at their bandcamp page. I started this review on the 15th, and I am going to review another free album today, but upload it the 17th. Either that or I'll do a free album every day this week.

1. Wounded Healer: This song starts out pretty promising. It is kind of getting my hopes up for this to be good. The guys voice sounds like a mix of Win Butler, and maybe like a Bob Dylan. I kind of like it. Then a girl comes and sings on this song. This almost gives me a more electric John Wesley Harding combine with Arcade Fire. This sounds a lot better than I thought it would.
2. Waiting To Find You: This gives me this M. Ward's newest album A Wasteland Companion vibe to it. You know, like this has this Novelty Music feeling that I am getting from this. This also kind of reminds me of The Band with the way the keyboards are being played. This has more of a country sound to it vs the last song.
3. Overwhelmed: This song gives me a big feel to it. The one thing about it is that I feel like it might begin to overwhelm people that don't care for the message. I like the message, but the theme is beginning to take it's toll. I still like this, but I hope I can withstand this album.
4. Enfold Me: This feels like a gospel song. This one is ok, but I'm afraid of what is to come for the rest of this album.The first song had promise and this one is decent, but it's progressively gotten worse from track 2.
5. Morning Star Rise: This song has the same vibe as the title track off this album. This is a nice change. I thought that the rest of this thing was going to be a bummer. This song is pretty decent.
6. Sweet Submission: This song gives me this feeling that I picture getting from the cover of Let It Be Me that Dylan did off 1970's double album Self Portrait. Something like that or maybe off of a Music from Big Pink vs Nashville Skyline. I might just be crazy, but that's what I picture in my head for this song. And for that fact decent chunk of this album
7. Just A Closer Walk: This sounds like a gospel song. I don't think that I can really say much more.
8. Take Me To Your Side: This is more of a Wasteland Companion song. This song is pretty cool. I like this song, and it is one of the better ones.
9. You Did Everything: The beginning of this song has like falsetto vocal or something on it that made me chuckle. This song is a good song that defiantly adds to the rating score. The instrumentation on this is cool, and suprised me.
10. God's Eternal Now: The beginning of this song has a like acoustic thing that reminded me of the song Angels off, originally, the 2002 Live album by comedy duo Flight of the Conchords. This song is a good way to end this album. I thought that this song is enjoyable.

Overall I have to give this a 6.8/10. Now, I'm a Christian, but I can't listen to Christian music. I don't know why, but it's too repetitive for me and just... boring :(.  This is a little bit more of a change for me. I found this more interesting and when it said that it was influenced by 70's gospel sounds, you can tell, but in a very good way. The thing is that I went back and forth on this. I didn't love it, but I thought it was enjoyable. I recommend this to anyone who likes the Bob Dylan albums when he did stuff with The Band, or to anyone who likes 70's Gospel music. I do want to buy this album, hopefully there will be a CD version. I'm definatly reviewing their next release.

I Was Her - Zoom On A Kill

This is, what appears to be, the thirds album by electronic artist Zoom on a Kill. I did a review of this artists 100 Altered Girls back last March. As you know, I haven't been reviewing albums as much as before. My goal is to get at least 10 a month. I know, hopefully 1999 will go up this month, along with Let it Be, Rocks, Boys & Girls by The Alabama Shakes, Stranger in Town, and lastly possibly Shades of Deep Purple. Also, as of TODAY I will only do free album/mixtape reviews on weekdays, unless it's on the day it was released, ie The Weeknd's August, 2011 mixtape Thursday will go up the day it was released, just on year later. If that makes any sense to you. Well I still don't know a ton of stuff about this project or artist but I will do a review of this, mainly because I want to hear this a decent much. Each song has a different piece of artwork to go along with it. You can't download this a FrostClick, only at Bandcamp.

1. Intrakatrá: This track starts out with a sample of people talking in, what I think is, either Spanish or Italian. It ends and fades into track 2
2. Wake Up Hanz3l: This song didn't start out that bad. The wahs were a little more buried in the beginning. You can still hear it, but this song is kind of funny. They sampled the Mario coin sounds and other parts of the game two. This song has more variation to it than the other Ep. There is a little ditty at the ending where it reminds me of the ending of the song Frodo (Don't Wear The Ring) off the 2000 live debut album by the New Zeland comedy duo Flight of the Conchords. 
3. Antagonist: I don't really hate this song, but I don't love it. I kind of feel impartial about it.
4. Mario Give Us A Fuck: This song starts out very strong. It has this fast drum beat and samples Mario's "wah who!" when he jumps, and also the sounds it makes when he collects coins and shrinks. This song gets a little bit to Dub for me at parts, but it is still kind of neat. And it ends with the invisibility sound.
5. Punch It Girl!: Here's the dubstep... :( The picture for this is a girl with horns falling forwards to the side, with a noose around her neck.
6. Joystick: This samples good ol Mario again. The picture for this is a naked Asian girl with big/heavy chest. I don't think that's necessary, but what ever.
7. Eres Un Puto Juguete!: This has the same feel as Mario Give Us A Fuck but in stead of Mario's voice, you get more of a German Hitler screaming orders.
8. Taste of You: This is a duby song. Normally I'd hate this song, but the Mario sounds kind of keep me interested.
9. Hall 9000': For some reason the very beginning of this song reminded me of something off the 2009 Crank High Voltage soundtrack that Mike Patton did.
10. ADN of a Space Cdet Bulla': This is kind of a sad ending to this ep or album. This is a sweet piano atmospheric sounding song that could be in a movie.

Overall I would give this a 5.7/10. I think that this was better than 100 Girls. This was only 15 minutes long. That's not terrible, no matter what you listen to. I think that I will re-listen to this again. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't anything that really blew my socks off.

Try This At Home - Finding Fiction

This is an indie band from Brooklyn. I found out about these guys via FrostClick. The album cover looks pretty cool and mysterious. Like I am curious to see how this plays out. The cover of this kind of reminds me of The Weeknd's mix tape House of Balloons. Oh yeah, I posted this ten days after I started the initial review

1. Migraines & Sheep: This song isn't that bad. The way it starts out is pretty cool. This song gives me a feeling of that this is going to be a good listen. And that I have not made a mistake choosing to listen to this Ep. The only thing is this song kind of drags on. And it doesn't recover from that drag for me. The second time hearing this, ten days later, I think that it is a little better. The drag still goes on, but it's not as bad. This really reminds me of that band Fun. that I heard from the commercials on YouTube.
2. Panic Rooms: This song starts out, for me, not so hot. I really was hoping to get swipe off my feet, in order to make up for that drag of the last track. #This song is only like 13 seconds shorter than track one. This song is just, no other way to say this, Bad. The beginning of the song kind of sounds like a panic. This song kind of reminds of These Animals. The name of this song kind of reminded me of Coldplay's song Don't Panic off Parachutes.  
3. Weathermen: There is nothing that really appealed to me in this song. This is the longest song, only by a couple seconds, but still. I don't like this. This just has no appeal to me. I feel like this is just to repetitive for me to like. The vocals in the mix are to in there. It sounds like there it this wall and everything is trapped within that wall. And nothing can get passed that wall. Somethings are louder than others, but thats only because they are fighting stronger. And his vocals are also just have this echo to it to where I personally can't understand a word the singer is saying. That song was just... it just went on.
4. Dear Daylight: This song is ok  There is nothing that is overly amazing about this track but it is still decent. There is this thing in the background that sounds like this siren, and it just has this odd feel to it that makes it irritate me. It kind of gets on my nerves, and it just is irritating. There is also this feel to it, that reminds me like they want to try to sound like a band that I'm not super fimilar with, but The Cure. The songs off Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me remind me of this Ep. But it's like, they are failing at it. This song just doesn't grab me.

Over all  I give this a 4.2/10. I think that this kind of dragged on. It would of been so much better if it were shorter. Not to mention track two was just bad. I hope these guys make another Ep but make it a lot better than this one. It wasn't that fun of a listen, for me at least.This is a "very indie" band that would be on the radio. One that I tend to find that I like to stay away from. They don't really sound like anything that I've never heard before and liked. One plus to this is it's only 22 minutes, but that is killed by the fact that these song are not very good. They have another ep called Plastic & Change Ep, I hope that one's better than this one.

EARL - Earl Sweatshirt

This is currently the only solo mixtape released by the rapper Earl Sweatshirt from the rap group OFWGKTA. I've reviewed Frank Ocean's mixape Nostalgic, Ultra, The whole Odd Future gang's The OF Tape Vol. 2, and Tyler, The Creator's sophmore album Goblin so far. I plan on reviewing all of their stuff. ALLL OF IT!!!! You know why, "Cuz I'm... Mother Fucking Radical". No but seriously I've learned that with these guys their stuff is a lot to take, at least for me. See Goblin has grown on me, certain parts on Nostalgic, Ultra went every way, grew on, against, or stayed the same to me. That's why I'm gonna take my time reviewing this mix tape. It starred this review 3.25.12 and well see when it goes up. Also I think that this is going to be an interesting review. Hopefully I'll be able to put on Odd Future solo effort each week day, this week. I'm going to upload two on Friday because I messed up with Monday. This is going up on 3.28

1. Thisniggaugly: This song is more of an intro to the mixtape. It is just a really short song like a minute and a half. This song isn't that crazy amazing. It sounds like them dicking around.
2. Earl: This song is kinda scary. I could see someone being intimidated by this song.  This was the first song by Earl that I heard. This song was unattractive to me at first, but it is kind of cool. 
3. Couch Featuring Ace Creator: This is a song that continues this Goblin Demos feel for me. I think that this song is pretty ok. I love how Tyler mentions Twilight, and Kelly Clarkson in this song. This also has this same aggression to it that would be on Goblin.
4. Kill: This song is on the list. I do think that this song has a very strong and good flow. I really like this song a lot. Another thing is the pop culture references and illusions he uses on this song is sick. I think that this is probably one of the best bashes I've heard. He just but fucks everyone on this song. His bashes are better than anything that I've ever heard anything Em say EVER! {11/10}
5. Wakeupfaggot: This song has this sample of like trumpets and strings in the beginning. This song is like a skit. But it is a weak skit. It's he is mad at his mom for waking him up.
6. Luper: This song makes up for the poor attempt at a skit. This is defiantly a piano part that was used on Yonkers. This beats hurt it, but they don't.
7. epaR Featuring Vince Staples: This song has a dub step beat...... NO!!!! The beginning kind of scared me. But it kind of ends, so to say. This song is fucking sick. Vince reminds me so much of Em on some  song where he would be in the Shady persona.
8. Moonlight Featuring Hodgy Beats: This song starts out with the futuristic outer space sounds. Then Earl and Hodgy's voice is distorted, kind of like The therapist for Bastard and Goblin. I'm not that crazy about this song, but it think it kind of works for the name. When I heard the name and the title, it reminded me of like the levels in Pokemon with the ghosts Pokemon and stuff.
9. Pigions Featuring Wolf Haley: They mention "Kill People, Burn Shit, Fuck School" in this song. That is also the anthem of Radical on Tyler, The Creator's 2011 sophomore effort Goblin. This song is really good. I like this a lot and can look over the massive use of the word swastika. I really think that this song is Bad Ass {9/10}
10. Stapleton: This song is another song that I could see on Bastard. Yesterday, I got a taste of Bastard and it's basically like Goblin, but worse produced beats. This is comparable to Bastard more so than Goblin. This is the song were he mentions the KKK. This song's flows are ok, but what hurts the song for me is the beats. I don't really think that the beat compliments the flows.

Overall I have to give this mixtape a 7.5/10. These song has this scary beat to it. One that I could see being on something like "Goblin demos". If you know what I mean, by that its not like as good quality sounding beats as Goblin, but Goblin isn't that good beat quality either. I don't love this song, but that's because I feel like it's a little too much. It feels like it's a lot to take in, it isn't not Kanye, or Rhianna where it takes one listen to see if you like it. In the beginning I was scared to listen to this, and I wouldn't like it, but I LOVE THIS MOFO. The first time I heard tracks Kill that set my interest and I was addicted. It was also a really quick 23 minutes. It was also very interesting. Something else that I noticed was that they mentioned the KKK a lot in their rhymes. I have to fix something so I went back and added something.

Nostalgia, Ultra - Frank Ocean

This is the only, at least to my knowledge, mix tape released sole by a member of the hip-hop collective Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All. This guy is the member who sings and sings pretty good. I guess that Kanye heard this mixtape and ended up collaborating with Frank and Frank met Beyonce and Jay-Z. I'ma let you finish but I think that this looks like it might be a good listen. I already heard American Wedding and Swim Good and that's it so far.

1. Street Fighter: The beginning of this song is sounds. It is just the sound of him moving tapes around and playing them.
2. Strawberry Swing: This song is upbeat and pretty good. It doesn't sound like Frank is offbeat on this song. It is also a very pretty sample going on in the background. It irritates me that Frank could have been more on beat with American Wedding because he is right on with this. I love that song, actually more than this one, but I don't think its good how he did it. The sample is a Coldplay sample and the song ends with a sample of the song where Chris Martian sings. That fades out while an alarm clock fades in. The song ends him turning the alarm clock. {8/10}
3. Novacane: This song is a song that I could see someone dancing to. Like a '90s song, not so much the lyrics, but more the song. This song is a pretty good song. This song is also intresting, by that I mean it made me want to listen to the whole song. I think that this song also reminds me of that rapist Michael Jackson. That effects the enjoyment of the song a little. But I can over look that. There is this almost over powering feel that makes me want get Straight Up with the one and only Paula. I guess this song is about a girl who wants to get throught dental school so she becomes a porn star. And the singer is in love with the girl and she goes to drugs, and because he loves her he does it to. {7.6/10}
4. We All Try: This song is a pretty cool sample. This is like his political song, I guess. He mentions he believes "that marriage isn't between a man & woman, but between love and love". I kind of disagree, but what ever. I still like this song a lot. This song is pretty solid and his vocals actually work with the entire song and it sounds good. This is one of the good songs on this album, by that it's not put together poorly. 
5. Bitches Talkin': This song is another "cassette change" song. But it does contain a Radiohead sample. And there "Bitches Talkin'" in the background.
6. Songs For Women: This song sounds like a '70s, I want to get laid song. By that I mean this is what you would play if you want to get laid. This has that old school '70s R&B vibe to it. This songs title even hits at that theme. This song is actually good, and pretty neat. I don't think this is the best song, but it is one of the better songs. I also really think that the "do, do, do, do" beat in the background sounds pretty cool.
7. Lovecrimes: This song has this classic rock/jazz feel to it. The piano actually reminds me of Van Halen's song Right Now off For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge, released in 1991. It also gives me this Peter Colins/Genesis feel to it. And a little African influenced music. There is a voice sample in the background that is buried and he is on beat with this one. Towards the end of the song it slows down and it is a pretty cool idea. The way the song went was that it reminds me of a vinyl record that fades out.
8. Goldeneye: This is a "Cassette Change" song.
9. There will be Tears: This song has this type of dubstep beat. Not like the ones that The Weeknd uses, like actual dubstep. It's not extreme, but it's more powerful in the song. This song is kind of  uplifting, and it has a good vibe to it. I could see this song being on the radio. There is enough autotune and it's upbeat enough so yeah. This is a pretty cool song. I'm not in love with it but its pretty chill {7/10}
10. Swim Good: This was the first solo song I heard by Frank Ocean. I liked it the first time I heard it and it has only grown on me. This song is probably the second most emotional song in this mixtape for me. I think that it's neat that he is going to drive in the lake/river/ocean because of a girl left him. He mentions he is dressed for a funeral. That is a pretty good image of what is going to happen. I like when people make songs about suicide, but do it with taste. It obviously depends on the style, but if Frank had one and it said "I want to slit my fucking troat, chop off my cock" that'd be a little extreme of his type of music. This song is also pretty upbeat for a song about suicide. I also love that seagull ocean sound at the end, like he drove into the ocean.
11. Dust: This song is pretty cool. I think that this song is a more "normal" song. This has more of a radio R&B, Hip-hop, Rap sound. This reminds me very much so of something that I would hear if the radio was on a pop station.
12. American Wedding: This song. I think that this is my favorite on on the Mixtape. The thing about it is that it is Hotel California without vocal track and Frank's vocals instead. This is my favorite song for the fact that it is awesome. I love the way it sounds and the feel I get from it. The new lyrics give this song a new perspective to it for me. I think this song helped revive Hotel California, the song, for me. The song is really good but there are down sides. The vocals are off a little. Like the singing doen't sound like it's on temp. The lyrics aren't that good either. They don't go with the flow of the song. Look at this "it's an american wedding they don't mean too much but we were so in love, we had an american wedding, now what's mine is yours, thats american law". That doesn't work, at all. I love you Frank but don't do this to me. PLEASE! It hurts my belief that you might have a really good album coming out this year. Another things is that this really hurts trying to sing along with it, after you learn to get over the offbeat vocals. I would give this a 10/10 but because of all the negatives it gets this. {9.3/10}
13. Soul Calibur: This is the same like mix tape song switch as some of the other songs. This one has a couple seconds of MGMT's song Future Reflections off their 2007 digital, 2008 physical, full length debut Oracular Spectacular.
14. Nature Feels.: This song has a MGMT sample, and guess which one it is. It's Electric Feel, that makes sense after you see the title of the song. This song has so much potential, he's fucking sampling MGMT's song Electric Feel. But he doesn't pull it off. After many listens I still can't really get into this song. It seriously bums me out that it's like he gave two shits. This is worse than, offbeat, than American Wedding. The lyrics are ok, but the way he performs this is just.... god awful. The only good part where it flows is on the chorus. The breakdown of the song he also flows a decently. And it think that it's better that he used the outro of the song to end it until he took the tape out {7/10}

Over all I'd have to give this mixtape a 7.8/10. It was not as good as I wanted it to be. There are its moments where it is awesome, but there are downsides. This could of been so much better, and so much potential. I think that I really want to hear another solo mixtape from Frank. Either that or maybe a full lenght album or something. And also I think that he should rap more, he was very suprising on Oldie. But from my gathered thoughts I believe this isn't a mixtape set up like an album/ep. No it's just a compilation of songs he recorded. But the over all theme I get from this is that its a guy who wakes up and is singing along with his favorite songs and changing some in the process. I have no idea if thats right, but that how it seems to me. And it also seems better in my opinion if you look at it like that. Hopefully this bitch will grow on me. :(
