Supermodel - Foster the People

So the last review was so I could clear up space on my iPod, and now I want to clear up a review that's just been sitting and doing nothing for two years. Plus last night I did get some shit done, so why not do this today. This is the second album by Foster the People. This is supposed to be a concept album about, basically, the negative aspects of society. The tracks I've heard off this so far show progression, which is always a good thing. But then once I kinda started this review I was like..... There's a reason it's taken so long to do #boring. So I decided to break up the album over a number of other tracks to "cleanse" my pallet rather than another front to back listen.

1. Are You What You Want To Be?: I like the island influence in this song and thing it's pretty decent. It reminds me a little of The Police. It's nowhere near as good as them, but it's okay. There is a part where they cry and it reminds me of Il Buono, Il Brutto, Il Cattivo. I hope you know what I mean? Oh just to be clear, it isn't as good as the original :D. Now coming back to this album to review it, I am very much fear ful for that introduction. It's almost as if I was getting ready for a cringe. I still can tolerate the reggae vibe of the tune, but this isn't that good, and I'm pretty sure I have more of this waiting for me. It's not as bad as Let Me Be, but it's not good IMO. I hear theses little flourishes but I mean it's anything I can't here elsewhere and done better or more interesting. Like I feel like this is trying to engage you or suck you into the the song. Kinda of like a video game, I can't think of the word, but this doesn't pull me in and make me forget I'm listen to a pop song.
2. Ask Yourself: This opens okay, I mean it isn't the best but it isn't offensive. There is a reason that this kind of reminds me of The Cure (I should do a Cure review) if they were popier. Like maybe this comparison will be bad, but maybe Friday I'm in Love (but stripped of what makes it a solid tune). There's also a bit of a Coldplay feeling.
3. Coming Of Age: Holy fuck this intro reminds me of CP. You know, this is an okay song, but nothing I'ven't heard before. The vocals and what not just make me think of any other indie band I know. I do like the electronics and may return to this track once in a blue moon, but you know it's nothing I'd listen to like MGMT or St. Vincent along some others. The singing reminds me a ton of Mylo Xyloto, and the intro sounds like it could have been on that album. I really have taken nothing away from this track.
4. Nevermind: Nice acoustic guitar, but really I can't remember a single thing that happened during and while I was listening to the track. Kinda trippy, but I'd rather listen to Freak Out!. It's like they watered songs down. The ending reminds me of something but I don't care enough to remember.
5. Psuedologia Fantastica: This track reminds me a little of MGMT with the use of electronics. It actually makes me think of Alien Days if it was written back in their 2008 or earlier days. The electronic kind of reminds me of Siberian Breaks too, but not as cool. This title fits this odd song, but you know I've heard better song in this style than that and may hurt my outlook the song. Maybe The Handshake or another Oracular Spectacular track. Though I think this is cooler than Pumped Up Kicks and shows progression artistically, It just doesn't drag me in. I wish the song would have ended with those piano chords, like had them play over the solo of sorts. That would have been cool. The white noise fade is effective, but I still think that track was a little long. And by a little long it gets kinda boring, I mean the piano works but still. I don't know.
6. The Angelic Welcome of Mr. Jones: Well this is an interlude that really does nothing at the end of the day. I mean I get the point, but I don't think it really adds to anything. 
7. Best Friend: This is the first song that I heard off this album. It reminds me, vocal harmony wise, of Duran Duran a la The Reflex or Notorious. The horns remind me a little of Notorious. This is a pretty decent track the first time though. You can also dance to this song, which also reminds me of DD. This also reminds me of The Black Keys off maybe Turn Blue. Also not really feeling the sentiment of this song, I mean I don't need to be told to look out for strung out friends.
8. A Beginners Guide to Destroying the Moon: I don't care for this title. I don't know why, maybe because it reminds me of Dark Side of the Moon and A Young Person's Guide to King Crimson. Actually the vocals remind me of Say Anything at points. That's really all I have to say, I mean it's not terrible, but it's not to great. I feel like if you have a title like this you should do something tongue and cheek, not stupid.
9. Goats in Trees: This must be about The Mountain Goats covering Rush songs. It's weird, that last song wasn't terrible, but this is just like I don't even want to listen to this anymore. Like I mean, nice acoustic guitar but that's all I can take from this, and the VanWyngarden sounding vocals.
10. The Truth: "of Life", well if you've come to find that I'll let you in on a secret. "The only truth in life is right here in this bottle. Infact, I'd rather have this bottle in front of me, than a frontal lobotomy!". Points to anyone who gets that overly long and pointless reference. Actually there was a reference within the original, so it's like a reference inception. Oh this songs kinda boring, I had far more fun typing this. I mean I like the Handshake-ness but that doesn't mean I'll ever return to it.
11. Fire Escape: This kinda reminds me of a less tormented Elliott Smith. But with other people doing the harmonies with him.

Overall I have to give this album a 4/10. Foster have grown, but they haven't done anything that make them stick out. They have a lot of interesting things on here that remind me of things I love. They don't have anything that makes them stick out and make me love them. There are other artists who are ballsy like MGMT, St. Vincent, Radiohead this band is more in line Coldplay who have evolved, but somehow don't take extreme chances. I can't stress how little I have interest in returning or even remembering this record. Maybe I should do another Red Hot Chili Pepper's album, and also Chicago's second album too.

Stay Gold - First Aid Kit

This is the third album by First Aid Kit. I listened to the LP front to back the day it came out. As I did with Lazaretto and Ultraviolence and The Hunting Party. To be honest, this is slightly not on par with those subpar albums. This is slightly lower.

1. My Silver Lining: They are kind of cute. There's one thing. Also where is the Man and the Mountain. Also is there a play book that can help make this track better?
2. Master Pretender: Question, is this guy an expert at exploding also. 
3. Stay Gold: Stay hopeful Danny, you can do it. 
4. Ceder Lane: I've heard of the lake, not the lane though.
5. Shattered & Hollow: I wonder how Sleepy Mick & Phil are? He's getting older, they probably need a naps.
6. The Bell: Lou Reed is a Stupid Man in 1979's The Bells.
7. Waitress Song: What?
8. Fleeting One: I wonder if this is a cover of the Children of Bodom collab with Fleet Foxes.
9. Heaven Knows: What, this album was made?
10. A Long Time Ago: In a galaxy far away. 

Overall I have to give this album a 3/10. My biggest problem is it gets boring fast. Also there aren't any surprises here at all. Hebrews I think was an all around better album then this, and it kinda sucked. To be completly Honest I began tuning ithis out upon first listen. 

Forever Ep - Haim

This is the debut release, by the LA band Haim. It is composed of 3 sisters, Este, Alana, and Danielle. They formed in '06 but released their first release in 2012. Now when I first heard of them, I was like they are kind of cute, why not check them out. Then they got bigger and I finally sat down yesterday to listen to this Ep. Damn! I was like, Fuck! These are sisters, they are all sexy, the youngest is only 4 years older than me, they can make good music, and they seem to have decent personalities. So if there is any group to have a crush on, its Haim. And this shows how much I pay attention, they are backing vocals on the track LVL by A$AP Rocky off his debut album Long.Live.A$AP. Actually, Alana, the one on the far left? reminds me a little of Misty Mundae.

1. Better Off: The beginning of this song reminds me of The Chapin Sisters. This whole song kind of reminds me of them. Minus the "Fucked Me Up" line. I read that theses guys were compared to Fleetwood Mac. I could kind of see that. And with that in mind, this song reminds me a little of The Chain. 
2. Forever: Alana, I think she's the singer, well anyway, remind me of Christie off You Make Loving Fun. Beside the vocals though, this song kind of reminds me of like something I would see if I were to watch MTV in the '80s. This is a very fun song. This song is a song that I could imagine listening to over the summer. The Ep was released in July, but still. This song just feels like I could hold a lot of memories of your youth.
3. Go Slow: As the title suggests, this song is slower than the others. This song reminds me a little of The Police. They way that this seems kind of reggae, but not Bob Marley. Like a hint of it. This isn't my favorite song, but I think it kind of grows on me. This also kind of seems like a song from Lion King with the atmosphere. Idk
4. Forever (Dan Lissivik Remix): I don't care for this, but it's a remix. So I don't think very much of it, you know.

Overall I have this give this a 8.5/10. I liked this a lot. It was a first time through and I really liked it. I really think that I am going to follow this band. Not only are they sexy, their music is kind of too. Maybe it's just me, but that's me. I WILL buy that iTunes Festival Ep when I get a chance to. I can't wait :) And lets pray to God for a full length sometime soon.

The Chapin Sisters E.P.

This is the debut release by the sister trio known as The Chapin Sisters. They are related to the Harry Chapin, you know, Cats in the Cradle and the silver spoon. I think they are his nieces. Well anyway, I saw them live when I saw them open for Eisley in February, 2011. I didn't think much of them until after a while and coming back to the group. Note: When I saw them the one left making them the duo. One more note, I haven't been doing many reviews because I've been getting into Jazz. And Jazz is over my head, that's why I'm trying to get into it.

1. Shady River: I think that this song kind of sounds like the others. I don't think there is anything special in this song that stands out. I'm not putting the song down, but I think it's consistent with the other songs.
2. Don't Love You: This song has a different girl singing this track than the last one. This song is a decent song. 
3. Hey: This is another pretty decent song. I like it.
4. Girlfriend: This EP doesn't have a very wide variety of sounds. The songs are basically the same. So to say. Two is more of a ''mature'' album I guess. There is more experimentation, ie Digging A Hole and other stuff too.
5. Bird Song: I like the arpeggios and the finger picking on this song. That's part of what I like about this group. They finger pick really good. At least I think so. This reminds me of Palm Tree on their 2nd album. But less arranged or worked out. Like a demo version.
6. Long Journey: This song is more country than folky. I don't care for this one.
7. Toxic: This is one pretty cool cover of the Britney Spears song. They played this song when I saw them. I like the way they did this song. This is definatly the best track. Thought I do like Don't Love You and Bird Song.

Overall I have to give this a 6/10. I think it's Ok, but I don't think it's amazing. I haven't heard their Lake Bottom LP or the other 2 Eps, but I have heard all of Two. I wish I'd bought that Cd when I saw them. It's actually pretty good. I think this is an, you like it or you don't.

The Sister - Marissa Nadler

This is the first time that I've ever heard of this girl. She is based in Boston and released her first album in 2004. I found out about her via ListenBeforeYouBuy. I remember when, right before the album was released earlier this year, seeing the choice to stream the album. I think that I don't exactly know what to expect, especially since the album are is kind of cool. I think that it would be cool to have on vinyl to see the album cover. I'm not saying that I'm gonna buy the vinyl because I haven't heard it yet. I can honestly say I don't really know anything about Marissa except that she has like 6 other albums. Well lets get down to it.

1. The Wrecking Ball Company: The beginning of this song kind of reminded me of an acoustic version of Because by The Beatles and Wicked Games by The Weeknd. I really like her voice in this song. So far this is pretty decent album. But you can't judge an album off one song. After the rest of the instruments come in it reminds me of The Chapin Sisters on their second album Two. I don't know exactly what song, but one of the songs on that.
2. Love Again, There Is a Fire: This kind of reminds me of a more Eisley-esque version of Sucré. They way Marissa is singing kind of reminds me of Stacy's voice. It also kind of reminds me of the Eisley Family Christmas EP they released in 2010 for free. And added two new tracks for Christmas 2011. 
3. Christine: This kind of reminds me of The Chapin Sisters cover of Toxic on their Shady Lake Ep. It also kind of reminds me of the legendary song Elvis tried to buy off Dolly Parton..... Jolene. So far this thing is awesome.
4. Apostle: Sorry I kind of got lost in the song. It is a very pretty song. I think that it's pretty cool sounding too. It's kind of like how I get lost in the Elliott Smith 1995 self titled album
5. Constantine: For some reason I feel like I kind of am hearing Dolly Parton singing this song. Either her of Olivia Newton-John. Not necessarily their style of music, but their vocals. This also kind of reminds me of Irish Music. I'm Irish and I can't stand that music, I try hard to even listen to Van Morrison. But I like this song. This also reminds me a little of 2005's Room Noises by Eisley.
6. To a Road, Love: The way she is singing reminds me a ton of Stacy on the Sucré song, I wanna say The Cliff Waltz. I could be wrong so I'm gonna check. Actually it almost reminds me more of Wake the Earth by The Honey Trees off their 2009 Wake the Earth ep.
7. In a Little Town: I don't really know what to say about this
8. Your Heart Is a Twisted Vine: This sounds like basically what I said before.

Overall I have to say this should rightfully get a 8.5/10. This kind of reminds me of a mix of The Chapin Sisters with Eisley with Merriment (just a little) and probably every other Female Singer Songwriter that is in the field of like "Indie Folk". I don't know why it took me so long to listen to this. Box of Ceder is the Record Label. Shit man, they have a Vinyl version of this. I know what I'm doing when I get a credit card/debit card. I do feel like this will probably only grow on me.

Waves & The Both of Us - Charlotte Sometimes

This is the debut full length album, following the self titled EP released earlier that year, by New Jersey raised Charlotte Sometimes. One of her artists that sound similar to her is Dia Frampton. Well That's what I've listened to. But I love that she was on season 2 of The Voice and was eliminated at the first live round.

1. Loosing Sleep: This song starts out with a type of pop song that I kind of remember being on the radio around 2008. I don't really care much for it though.
2. How I Could Just Kill A Man: This song is another songs that I could see being on the radio at that time. I don't care much for this song either.
3. Waves And The Both Of Us: This song actually kind of, in a odd enough way, reminds me of Rihanna's voice a little at parts in the song.
4. Sweet Valium High: I don't understand why she had the word Fuck in her song. There was no need for it at all. It bugs me when people swear for appearance. To make themselves look cool, or not as much of a sweet girl or a lame guy, they drop the f bomb in songs.
5. Ex Girlfriend Syndrome: This song was kind of another lost cause with me. I didn't find this song interesting.
6. AEIOU: ......... Actually this song kind of reminds me of Kelly Clarkson.
7. Toy Soldier: After taking a break to eat in the middle of this album, this song isn't as bad as I though it'd be. I'm still not huge on it, but I don't love this. I might listen to this song again.
8. This Is Only For Now: This song sounds like the backing music is kind of skipping until the other sounds join in with the guitar.
9. In Your Apartment: This song is kind of pretty in the beginning. It sounds like she borrowed parts of the songs Children of the Damned off Iron Maiden's 1982 classic Number of the Beast, and some Ennio Morricone song that would be used in on of the Clint Eastwood movies. But only in the beginning of the song.
10. Army Men: I am excited that this is coming to an end. But this song isn't terrible.
11. Build The Moon: This song kind of reminds me a little of a less good version of jar of hearts.
12. Pilot:..........

Overall I have to give this a 3/10. I didn't care for this at all. I gave it a try and I didn't think that it was for me. But I do have to say that I could see, if she makes music that is current right now, her being on the radio. Theses songs reminds me of 2008 radio songs and songs that would be on Disney Channel. Both of which I don't care for. I realized this album was a lost cause by track 2. If you don't like the first track, you probably won't like anyother song. Honestly, I was waiting for this album to end so I cold finish up the channel ORANGE review. Who knows maybe I'll return to this album.

Making Mirrors - Goyte

This is the third album by Australian electronic pop artist Wally de Backer, or his alias Goyte. Wally, whose birth name is Wouter De Backer was born in Belgium in 1980. He spent most of his life, growing up, in Australia after moving there with his family. His first album Boardface was released in 2003. Well this is his third album and this seems to be a big hit in the pop radio. So I think that, after loving Somebody I Used to Know, give it a review.

1. Making Mirrors: This is an instrumental intro to the first song. It has an ambient sound to it. It kind of reminds me of the beginning of Mylo Xyloto, even thought this came out first. This in August, Coldplay's album in October.
2. Easy Way Out: This song has this kind of hypnotic feel to it. This seems like it would be a garage rock type of song. I could see The Yardbirds or The White Stripes doing something like this, to an extent. This song is only about 2 minutes long. That's kind of a let down. I didn't feel like it really ended.
3. Somebody I Used To Know: I don't exactly know why, but I love the crap out of this song. The song is catchy and has that catchy bass beat to it. The little guitar that goes along with the beat is also awesome. He uses some other instruments, probably from New Zeland. He used foreign instruments to make a pop song. This song is awesome. This chorus is fricken catchy as hell. I don't know how to not explain how catchy this song is. Gotye's part is really cool, but the star of the song is young Kimbra. Her part adds so much more, instrumentation wise and has more going on with it. And her voice. I fell in love with it super fast. I LOVE her voice. Actually I listened to all the remixes that they have on his spotify page of this song. It's kind of like, why not.
4. Eyes Wide Open: I think that this is a cool next song. It is a million times different from the last song. This is a fun song.This feels like I'm running in a march, if that makes sence. I don't really know how else to describe this song.
5. Smoke and Mirror: This kind of has a Doors feeling to it. The keyboards on the song make this feel like it is something they might do. This song gives me this feeling of, He has style. Like he is a cool guy. He is slick. This also has the kind of psychedelic vibe to it going on. The whole African drums thing at the end drags on for me.
6. I Feel Better: This has this Ennio Morricone intro to it. Then it completely changes into a like pop song. Yeah I don't really know how to react. The way he's sing reminds me of Wings. I don't exaclty know what song, but a song that would probably be on Wings Across America live album from 1976.
7. In Your Light: This reminds me of Faith by George Michael. The guitar in the beginning. Then there are horns that come in and give it this intresting feeling. Well he sings with the guitar and without the horns for a part. This could be a cover of Faith. It's actually suprising that it sounds like George Michael as much as it does. Obviously it's not prefect, but with that in mind you know what I'm talking about. It's Faith with more electronic stuff going on.
8. State Of The Art: This song has theses horns and stuff in it to give me a James Bond type of song. I could see the instrumental of this song being in a spy movie. Like when he would be looking for clues. I don't like the distorted, deep, robot vocals at all. I think this should be an instrumental song. This is way cooler with out the vocals. And the way he is singing reminds me of Somebody I Used To Know. Not the chrous, but the verses. I could see this in a Pierce Brosnan films where he was Bond.
9. Don't Worry, We'll Be Watching You: This song is like part two of the last song. This could also be in a Bond soundtrack. But only if you subtracted the singing. The little ambient voice in the beginning of the song is fine. And also if you took out the strings that kind of hurt and make this song loud once he starts singing. the beginning is how it should stay, with to the guitar sound.
10. Give Me A Chance: This is kind of a easy listening song. This song slipped past me first time hearing it because it was so quiet. But I'm kind of glad it did. I didn't really like it all that much.
11. Save Me: This song kind of continues where Give Me A Chance ended. It has this very electronic feeling at parts. There is this "do do do" robot sound in the song. There is also a hand clap sample in the background.
12. Bronte: This is a very atmospheric song. Like soundwaves. When I heard this I thought of Whales making love. That wouldn't be pretty sight, but its pretty sounding. But that ends when he starts to sing. The vocals remind me of Connan Mockasin's 2011 title track off  Forever Dolphin Love. There are strings and there is stuff added to the song as it progresses. I think that is sounds pretty, but it begans to ware off on me. Like its not as pretty as it was at first.

Overall this gets a 6.2/10. Using Australian and other foreign instruments is really cool when they make a pop song out of that. But it's been done before, Men At Work's 1981 album Business as Usual with their songs Down Under and Who Can It Be Now?. I love both of those song, but I like these songs to. I don't really consider this to be an album. I think that it could be more of a greatest hits over a 10-20 year career period of an artist. The songs genres and styles don't really overlap, except the last "2nd Half" of the album. I like that it doesn't get overkill about a certain genre on this, but I wish there was more consistent throughout the entire thing. It seems like the second half is the album, and the first half is just songs he wanted on the radio. But it also might not have been as good if it was more consistent. I just got bored by the end. That was also the case with 21 by Adele. I think that this was an album intended to win awards.

Vacation - Bomb The Music Industry!

This is the 7th album by indie music collective from New York. They are from NY, ie place that doesn't really bring that much musically. Well outside of maybe Zorn. But I don't really like bands like this, or music like this, so I am kind of not expecting anything huge.

1. Campaign For A Better Next Weekend: I went into this not expecting to like it. This song kind of shook my feelings, not a ton, but made me feel like I might like it. This wasn't that amazing of a song but if this was like the rest of the songs this would get a decent review score. This song gave me a feeling of Coldplay so I was kind of excited. And the song builds.
2. Vocal Coach: This song totally sounds like a Weezer song. Absolutely everything, outside maybe the vocals, sound like Weezer. They even have that little xylophone sound that reminds me of Pink Triangle off 1996's Pinkerton. I can't explain how similar it is.
3. Everybody That You Love: This sounds like a punkish song that might be in a Tony Hawk video game. And outside of the vocals I get this feeling of Christian rock, for some reason. But that Christian thing isn't through out the whole song, only the beginning of the song.
4. Sponge Board/Baby Waves: This could be a cover of Our Prayer off The Beach Boys 1969 20/20 but was intended to be on the 1967 lost album Smile. Which has been released as a boxset featuring some of the takes of the songs.
5. The Shit That You Hate:  The beginning of this song reminds me of Green Eyes off the 2003 A Rush of Blood to the Head by Coldplay. But that changes when they add electronic thing playing along with the vocals, and the feedback at that one part. Then they add strings and remove the feed back. This song is what I assume a ballad. The lyrics aren't that amazing, but I don't think that all of Weezer's lyrics "sound" that good. This song builds and is "epic?". Not for me, but maybe for you. The vocals on this just hurt it for me, a lot.
6. Hurricane Waves: This has a surf rock feeling to it. It is a typical one that I think you can tell that it doesn't sound that new.
7. Sick, Later: For some reason the like hook in this song reminds me of the theme song for that Victorious TV show on Nick. I have seen it in the past, mainly because sometime my sister has it on and I'm not doing anything. I don't watch it all the time, just on occasion, but then again who doesn't do that if they have a younger sibling. But anyway this song doesn't give me anything fresh.
8. Why, Oh WHy, Oh Why (Oh Oh Oh Oh): This song reminds me of like The Cure. I don't get exactly why, but it does. This song doesn't sound that far off from the last track.
9. Savers: As this progresses this starts to get repetitive. And it's a little too repetitive. The last 3 songs before this kind of sound the same. They add strings in this song, but it doesn't do anything at all for me.
10. Can't Complain: This has the feeling that I get from Hurts Like Heaven off 2011's Mylo Xyloto album by Coldplay. The difference, biggest, is there isn't as much electronics going on in there. I am glad that there is a little variation at this part. There is no need for swearing on this song, or on anyother songs on this album. They just put it in there for "shock value". And It isn't that sharking. The ending has this voice sample that I'm not gonna talk about cuz it's dumb, just remember that.
11. Everybody That Loves You: By this song I'm kind of looking forward for this thing to end.
12. Sunny Place Shady People:  This is like the electronic 8-bit solo for the last song, then they add in other instruments. The way this song ends sounds like they sampled Ronnie from Escape the Fate and more recently Falling in Reverse voice.
13. Felt Just Like Vacation: This is just a continuation on the last song. I think that the last three songs were supposed to be like a big melody. The ending of this album is ok, and it is a good way to sum everything up. There is like a 2 minute outro of an arpeggio that sounds like it getting out of tune. I think it sounds sweet. Nice way to end the album/vacation.

Overall I can't say I really liked this. I have to give it a 6.2/10. I think that this is something that people might like, and I kind of see it having potential, but I just don't like it. This thing is a big "Jumble Fuck" of genres, in a good way. Each song sounds different from each other. But then again, they are from New York. So, I got it free at their website/tumblr and I think you should give it a listen. I do want to review their future/past stuff to. So look forward to that. One last thing, the backing vocals kind of remind me of the choruses on a Bang Camaro song. This band also gives me this NOFX vibe, the vibe that makes me very much dislike NOFX.

An Offer Of Moonlight - Eisley

This is one of the many studio sessions that the wonderful Daytrotter has done. I fricken love that website. You should go there and join it, because it has a ton of bands that I like, and didn't know about before. There are also some bands/artists that I knew about and was suprised about Danny Brown, Max Bemis, Wayne Kramer, MGMT, Sucré amoung others. So this is the one they did with Eisley. I was like, crap, I couldn't believe it. The best part, this was released today. So I couldn't help but to do this. This is the second Review I've do for Eisley.

1. Laugh It Off: This is like a more of a version that would maybe on something Pre-Room Noises. Like the way the song is. I think that this isn't as Epic as the album version of it. But I still think that this is a pretty neat version. This is more of a peaceful version. This isn't a cool sounding or powerful and delivered with so much emotion. The Ep version is more like "into" it.
2. Mister Moon: This song has the keys more present. In the studio version of the song the keys and vocals are mixed together, kind of. This version the keys "drag" the notes out. Not the song, but the notes seem longer. This version has no drums, which is part of what makes that song so... the way it is. The nice thing about this version is it's a bit more easy to understand the lyrics. I think that this is just a pretty and different take for this session.
3. Ambulance: This sounds like the acoustic version on the deluxe edition of The Valley. This song has version of the songs has more of an atmosphere to it, if that makes sense. Actually it is the same version that is on the deluxe version. This is more of a layed back version. It only has vocals, keys, and acoustic guitar strums. It's a pretty version, I like the album version more, but that's my opinion
4. 192 Days: This song is like a tones down version. If that makes sense. I think that there is electric guitar in this song, but it's isn't in the background. This song sounds like it's more "Live" than the produced version on Deep Space. I like this song, but I think there is part where it is hard to think about the 2009 Fire Kite Ep demo version. Because I like the 2012 Deep Space Ep version more. My favorite part is that this sounds like a non produced version that they would actually play

Overall I have to give that a 7/10. This is more of a quiter version of their songs, and live performances. I saw them live and they had more energy. I don't think that they used electric guitars. When they do things like this it's usually just Sherri, Stacy and Chauntelle. This is a pretty cool sounding thing. Its like looking at their songs, if they had an MTV Unpulgged, that's not the reason they do it like that, but you can look at it like that. 

Hunt Club Lp - Hunt Club

This is a band a group that I found out about via FrostClick. These guys seem to me like they would be folk or alternative rock or possibly even Indie. I don't know yet but based on the album cover that's what I get out of this. I think that this might be an intresting listen.

1. Knife Fight: The song starts out with an accordian, after the accordian intro a guitar comes in with the rest of the instruments. The verses are bass and drum driven. This sounds like this is an irish band. Unfortunatly I can't stand Irish music. The even sadder part is I'm pretty irish The ending of the song reminded me of System of a Down.
2. Mister Blue: This song kind of reminds me of Green Day rebellion, Irish pride, Lincoln Park. All music that i strongly dislike. This also sounds like it has a touch of Dropkick Murphys.
3. Drowning Man: This song starts out and it kind of reminds me of something that I would hear from like a thrash band. Well, at least an atempt. This sounds like they are trying to make this sound evil, but it's not doing it for me. This actually reminds me of a cheezy atempt to make a songs like Black Ssabbath's self titled song. This song kind of picks up, there is a part where it gets kind of cool sounding. I think that the vocals hurt this song, but then Punk vocals come in and it's actually pretty decent. And the song ends with a very cool guitar sounding riff. Kind of, at least the same idea as, Avenged Sevenfold on their song Turn the Other Way how the riff ends out with the song off the 2001 debut Sounding the Seventh Trumpets.
4. Punch Line: After hearing that last song, I realized that to enjoy this, you can't take it too seriously. This song is kind of cool, but its also kind of silly. This almost reminds me of My Name is Mud by Primus.
5. Spike: This is like a really cool continuation of the last song. I think that this LP has gotten better since I've waited to listen to it. This is a punk song, but it kicks butt. Seriously, I'm digging this song. There is a part when the song slows down and there are like Gregorian chants, sick.
6. Cappuccino: The intro sounds like a mix of Led Zeppelin/Whipping Post, that song by The Allman Brothers. I don't think the beginning of this song is as cool as the last one, but I still like it. There is a "scary/tripy" guitar sound and it is accompanied by other instruments. This song seriously could be a Pinkly Smooth/Ballistico song. There is this beautiful piano sounding part in this song that  brings a tear to my eye. It has this oprea voice that sings along with it and that is pretty much what ends the album, until this feedback comes in and pretty much engulfs everything else.

Overall after relistening to the first two tracks and then hearing the whole thing, I give this a 7/10. I can't wait to review the Live one they did. I feel like this is a mix of Southern/Punk/Primus so to say. I don't know, just give the whole thing a listen or two. The guys voice kind of reminds me a little of Ben from Ballistico. I don't know why, but only at certain parts.

Wounded Healer - The Followers

This is the first time that I've ever heard of these guys. I saw a link to download this album off NoiseTrade for free. And the album cover is also intresting, so why not give it a try. It said that these guys are from Portland Oregon. It also said that the genre, that was there when I put it on my iTunes, was Neo-Gospel. I don't exactly know what that means but they started at a Church.This was released May 5th, 2012. And one last thing, if you like this you can buy it at their bandcamp page. I started this review on the 15th, and I am going to review another free album today, but upload it the 17th. Either that or I'll do a free album every day this week.

1. Wounded Healer: This song starts out pretty promising. It is kind of getting my hopes up for this to be good. The guys voice sounds like a mix of Win Butler, and maybe like a Bob Dylan. I kind of like it. Then a girl comes and sings on this song. This almost gives me a more electric John Wesley Harding combine with Arcade Fire. This sounds a lot better than I thought it would.
2. Waiting To Find You: This gives me this M. Ward's newest album A Wasteland Companion vibe to it. You know, like this has this Novelty Music feeling that I am getting from this. This also kind of reminds me of The Band with the way the keyboards are being played. This has more of a country sound to it vs the last song.
3. Overwhelmed: This song gives me a big feel to it. The one thing about it is that I feel like it might begin to overwhelm people that don't care for the message. I like the message, but the theme is beginning to take it's toll. I still like this, but I hope I can withstand this album.
4. Enfold Me: This feels like a gospel song. This one is ok, but I'm afraid of what is to come for the rest of this album.The first song had promise and this one is decent, but it's progressively gotten worse from track 2.
5. Morning Star Rise: This song has the same vibe as the title track off this album. This is a nice change. I thought that the rest of this thing was going to be a bummer. This song is pretty decent.
6. Sweet Submission: This song gives me this feeling that I picture getting from the cover of Let It Be Me that Dylan did off 1970's double album Self Portrait. Something like that or maybe off of a Music from Big Pink vs Nashville Skyline. I might just be crazy, but that's what I picture in my head for this song. And for that fact decent chunk of this album
7. Just A Closer Walk: This sounds like a gospel song. I don't think that I can really say much more.
8. Take Me To Your Side: This is more of a Wasteland Companion song. This song is pretty cool. I like this song, and it is one of the better ones.
9. You Did Everything: The beginning of this song has like falsetto vocal or something on it that made me chuckle. This song is a good song that defiantly adds to the rating score. The instrumentation on this is cool, and suprised me.
10. God's Eternal Now: The beginning of this song has a like acoustic thing that reminded me of the song Angels off, originally, the 2002 Live album by comedy duo Flight of the Conchords. This song is a good way to end this album. I thought that this song is enjoyable.

Overall I have to give this a 6.8/10. Now, I'm a Christian, but I can't listen to Christian music. I don't know why, but it's too repetitive for me and just... boring :(.  This is a little bit more of a change for me. I found this more interesting and when it said that it was influenced by 70's gospel sounds, you can tell, but in a very good way. The thing is that I went back and forth on this. I didn't love it, but I thought it was enjoyable. I recommend this to anyone who likes the Bob Dylan albums when he did stuff with The Band, or to anyone who likes 70's Gospel music. I do want to buy this album, hopefully there will be a CD version. I'm definatly reviewing their next release.

Exquisite Corpse- EP - Warpaint

this is a band that formed in 2004 in Los Angeles. I remember listening to the first I heard Elephants. That song, along with the video, remind me of those late "Summer Nights". The ones where I listened to Faith No More and Mr. Bungle. It also gives me that good feeling that I got from, this will sound ironic, summer school. I felt like that was a new family for me. It was fun, but it stinks getting up. I do kind of miss it though. Enough info crap and back to the review. This is for realz holmes and now to the review. PS I'll fix the album cover later. 1. Stars: This song starts out with a feeling that reminds me of the Foo Fighters. With the exception that it's a girl singer. The song in particular that comes to mind is The Pretender off the 2007 album, whose name I can't think of but if you knew those Foos you know what I'm talking about. The drums and bass through the entire track remind me of that. The song then changes a little way into it and it turns into a Zeppelin sounding guitar with vocals from girls. The second half of this song remind me of that breakdown of the lie version of Since I've Been Loving You {7/10}.
2. Elephants: The video to this song is a welcoming one. I love it so much. This has like a magical feeling to it to where it's hard to explain. I don't really know how I can explain it. This is a very psychedelic song and has awesome guitar finger picks. The distortion to the guitar and vocals is awesome. The drums an the bass are so clear. The drums are sick and they just add to the song. This song is so clean and clear and easy to hear everything. There is a part where the girl's voice sound like its underwater. At that same part the guitar cuts out and it's just bass and drums going with her voice. The part where the song slows down and then just ha this feel of building up. Orgasm, because it goes back to the beginning. {10/10}
3. Billie Holiday: This song is ok. I don't think that it's the best song on this album, but I do think that it is neat. This song is an acoustic song, that with headphones, sounds better and more pretty. The drums in this song are a little quieter in this than the last track, but they still are sick sounding. This drummer on the Ep is really cool style of drumming, at least I think. This song is a love song and could be a love song that I could see someone having in a movie after the lead lost their love interest. There is this synth that sounds like strings. In the ending they have one of those two different people singing two different things. That is followed by two acoustic part that was in the whole song an is goes into like a distorted underwater sound kind of. Then is goes to the fade, and tw0 track fades in and his this cool feel that it comes back in. This is a really cool song {8/10}
4. Beetles: This song reminds me of Elephants, but it doesn't. This is a cool sounding song like Elephants but it has a more clear almost Undistorted feel to it. The bass and drums are more loud than the guitar. The song goes into a breakdown and during this breakdown the song has this type of pretty arpeggios that are accompanied by drums and bass. That ends and it's sole guitar playing what sounds like Greensleeves. After that a synth comes and gives it this more emotional feel to it. Then come the drums and after that the vocals. That part kind of reminds me of the breakdown in Since I've Been Loving You off the legendary live album The Song Remains The Same. After that it goes into this other kind of sounding Led Zeppelin feel. They pull it off like pros. I really enjoyed this song {9.7/10}
5. Burgundy: This song starts with sole bass and drums and then the vocals. There is the guitar that sounds like it is waiting in the background waiting to attack. This song seems like it is a tiger, so to say, and is waiting to attack. This song progressively gets louder and faster. It has this slow fade in feel to it. The most of the track sound like it is still fading in. This is really cool and I like that that the way it was produced. The instrumentation impresses me like a mofo. I can't believe I enjoyed this so much. This is a really sick song. The song then sounds like it begins to fade out to acoustic arpeggios. {9/10}

Over all I would have to give this album a 8.6/10. I enjoyed this more than I thought I would. I would suggest this album to anyone who in interested. This is a good Ep, and from what I understand the album is better. Can't wait to do that one. I think that this is neat, especially since I poked out the Led in there. Ha ha ha ha… I am hoping to get this, one day, on Vinyl and CD too, if that make that. That would be sick. Oh yeah one last thing I'm doing one tomorrow but after today the daily reviews is going to end and I will upload them as I feel. But the weekend ones will still be there. I'm hoping for, excluding the weekends, three a week. So yeah, that's it

Try This At Home - Finding Fiction

This is an indie band from Brooklyn. I found out about these guys via FrostClick. The album cover looks pretty cool and mysterious. Like I am curious to see how this plays out. The cover of this kind of reminds me of The Weeknd's mix tape House of Balloons. Oh yeah, I posted this ten days after I started the initial review

1. Migraines & Sheep: This song isn't that bad. The way it starts out is pretty cool. This song gives me a feeling of that this is going to be a good listen. And that I have not made a mistake choosing to listen to this Ep. The only thing is this song kind of drags on. And it doesn't recover from that drag for me. The second time hearing this, ten days later, I think that it is a little better. The drag still goes on, but it's not as bad. This really reminds me of that band Fun. that I heard from the commercials on YouTube.
2. Panic Rooms: This song starts out, for me, not so hot. I really was hoping to get swipe off my feet, in order to make up for that drag of the last track. #This song is only like 13 seconds shorter than track one. This song is just, no other way to say this, Bad. The beginning of the song kind of sounds like a panic. This song kind of reminds of These Animals. The name of this song kind of reminded me of Coldplay's song Don't Panic off Parachutes.  
3. Weathermen: There is nothing that really appealed to me in this song. This is the longest song, only by a couple seconds, but still. I don't like this. This just has no appeal to me. I feel like this is just to repetitive for me to like. The vocals in the mix are to in there. It sounds like there it this wall and everything is trapped within that wall. And nothing can get passed that wall. Somethings are louder than others, but thats only because they are fighting stronger. And his vocals are also just have this echo to it to where I personally can't understand a word the singer is saying. That song was just... it just went on.
4. Dear Daylight: This song is ok  There is nothing that is overly amazing about this track but it is still decent. There is this thing in the background that sounds like this siren, and it just has this odd feel to it that makes it irritate me. It kind of gets on my nerves, and it just is irritating. There is also this feel to it, that reminds me like they want to try to sound like a band that I'm not super fimilar with, but The Cure. The songs off Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me remind me of this Ep. But it's like, they are failing at it. This song just doesn't grab me.

Over all  I give this a 4.2/10. I think that this kind of dragged on. It would of been so much better if it were shorter. Not to mention track two was just bad. I hope these guys make another Ep but make it a lot better than this one. It wasn't that fun of a listen, for me at least.This is a "very indie" band that would be on the radio. One that I tend to find that I like to stay away from. They don't really sound like anything that I've never heard before and liked. One plus to this is it's only 22 minutes, but that is killed by the fact that these song are not very good. They have another ep called Plastic & Change Ep, I hope that one's better than this one.

Through The Rough - Merriment

This is the debut Ep by the band formed by Christie DuPree and her brother Colin. They are the siblings of the Elsley band members. The first releases was credited to Christie DuPree. I haven't really given her a chance. So why not do this now and review it today. I hope it's good because my favorite song off the Eisley Christmas Ep thing was her cover of Oh Come Emanuel. I recently saw these guys, along with Eisley on July 10th, 2012. They were way better live than on the Ep. So I'm re updating the albums review.

1. I Give Up: This is the first song that I heard of the Ep and I didin't like it. I gave it a couple tries and spread them apart, but I can't get into this song. And it only gets harder from here on out.
2. Blessed Soul: This song sounds like Stacey singing someone who can't really write music's song. There is also a country feel to it, and it isn't fun.
3. Through the Rough: This song kept up that overall boring vibe I get from this Ep. It isn't a fun listen.
4. Rewind: I am completely serious, I fell asleep to this song. That's how good I thought it was.
5. Sunday Morning: This song went over my head. I just didn't like it, I couldn't pay attention

Over all I unfortunately give this a 3.5/10. I wasn't interested in this and probably will be timid to check out anything Christie does like this again. After relistening to this, and having their live performance I hav to give this a 6/10. When you see them live you gain a new appreciation for them. Not a live video, a live performance.

Threads - Now, Now

This is the first full album I am going to listen to by a band called Now, Now. I know that they were originally Now, Now Every Children. I found out about these guys via Last.fm Eisley radio station. They are a indie band, and I kinda am excited to listen to this album. I found out about this album because of some link that led me to the Rolling Stone Magazine website where they had a stream of School Days. I thought that that was pretty cool so I wanted to check it out. I know it might not be amazing, but I don't know. I really do hope  it does good.

1. The Pull: This is more of an ambient beginning to the album. It is kind of like Prelude to Joanie on Aerosmith's 1982 album Rock In A Hard Place (that's the only album without Joe Perry performing on it) but instead of in the middle of the album, like the beginning. This song is not that crazy bizarre, I know, none of the top of my head, albums where they do that.
2. Prehistoric: This song did, in no way, grab my attention. It kind of sucked. I was hoping for a better "first song", because of the prelude.
3. Lucie, Too: This song didn't catch my attention either. It also kind of sucked. I don't like it and it isn't good. I still think that others might like this more than I, but I do not.
4. Dead Oaks: This is a cool sounding song. It is a little different in the fact that I wanted to listen to the rest of the album after this song. Before this song the album was bland. And this helped it get a little better.
5. Oh. Hi.: This song reminds me of one of Eisley's heavier songs. It sounds like it would be on the Deep Space Ep, that is in dire need of me re-reviewing it. This also kind of reminds me of Coldplay. Like the instrumentation of the song. I like this song. I don't love it, but so far that has been my favorite track on the album. No other ones has really grown on me, or caught my attention.Towards the end of the song there is a xylophone sounding solo in the song, kind of, but it reminds me super of Mylo Xyloto album by Coldplay. 
6. But I Do: This song reminds me of The Honey Trees. From the one Ep I've heard from those guys, The Honey Trees, I think that they are ok. I don't think that they are gods gift to indie pop, but what ever. This song sounds like it would most definitely be on Deep Space.
7. Separate Rooms: The beginning of this song reminds me of The Honey Trees/Coldplay/Eisley. The thing is that it isn't very good. Like it is more of a boring version of some Honey Tree song. I am not really enjoying this album so far. Not so much the fact that its a lot to take, just it's not good
8. Thread: This song sounds like it would be a college rock song. Like it is from New York. And I've come to learn that that it's very good for the most part. I don't really enjoy this type of music, the New York indie bands, with some very few occasions.
9. Wolf: This song doesn't pay homage to Tyler, The Creator in anyway... at all. See I made a funny. This is the first song were they used synthesizers. This song started out, not so bad. This song reminds me of a more indie version of Paramore. Their songs that are softer like When it Rains. But in the middle of the songs they begin like spelling out sounds and the word sleep. Those vocals sound like very tight. Down side to this is it reminds me of '80s music, but the music from the '80 I can't really stand.
10. School Friends: This was the first song off this album that I heard. I heard it back when it was first put up on Rolling Stone website. This song, I feel could be so much more emotional and meaningful to me, but it's not. There is so much that goes into a song that makes it mean something to someone. It could be related to emotions or memories you've had from the past. That doesn't hit me, the way I wanted it to. I actually remember liking it more when I first heard it on Rolling Stone.
11. Colony: This song has this country bluegrass feel to it. It is actually, not very good. I don't like this, it is bad country. This album has gotten so dry for me. I really don't want to revisit it. The drums are kind of cool thought, I'll give them that. This reminds me of a crappy attempt at trying to remake Eisley's album Combinations. 
12. Magnet: The song starts out dry. It kinda almost puts me to sleep. And the drums come in they are buried but they still kind of sound ok. In the middle there is a solo where the guitar playing arpeggios is buried in the background. This song then goes into a build up. This song isn't terrible, just could be so much more {5/10}

Overall I give this a 4/10. I think that this reminded me a little too much of Eisley's new Ep Deep Space. It is too familar to me to actually enjoy this. I think if you love indie pop music you might like this album. But I just don't. This did have ups though. It kind of reminded me of Eisley, The Honey Trees, and Coldplay. All good bands, just this isn't. I don't feel it lived up to that sound. Another thing about it is too much like '80 College Rock, or what ever you call it. 

The First - Dominique Grace

This is the first thing that I've ever heard by this girl. I found out about her from the daily FrostClick emails I get. I got this one a while back. I love that she instaspamed the album cover. And She is pretty cute so why not check this out. The cute thing hopefully won't at all affect the review

1. Struggle: This is one 2 and a bad, I actually think that it sounds pretty cool and has a good feel to the beginning of this Ep.
2. Can't You See: This is a piano driven song. Her vocals are pretty cool sounding. They kind of remind me of Adele. Not really, but kind of in a way.
3. Angel Grace: This song reminds me of a soft song. This song isn't that amazing. I actually am not that crazy about it. I don't really think that I can give it a good positive idea. It reminds me of a not so good Christie DuPree or now Merriment.
4. Lessons Of Life: I don't at all like this song. It has very crappy distorted vocal in the background. It is an Capella song and it isn't anything special.
5. Battle: This is basically like the first track. This isn't really that great. It doesn't keep my interest.

Over all I unfortunately give this a 3.5/10. I wasn't interested in this and probably won't check out any of her other stuff, if she released stuff in the future.

City By The Sound - The Sliders

I saw these guys through FrostClick. They are an Indie band from either New York or New Jersey, you can tell by the lyrics and the sound. I watched a video of these guys on the news and I didn't really like it that much. So I decided now to give the whole Ep a listen

1. The Sliders FrostWire Intro: I don't think that I need to give an explanation to this track.
2. City By The Sound: This is a notorious New York area indie band sound. These guys sound a little different and have more piano in it than most other I've heard but This isn't anything special. This song is ok, I think it is too upbeat. Like they try to be upbeat. And his voice sounds like it would be from Disney Channel. And the song sounds that way too. I can't stand the Disney Channel music and the way they make music.
3. Chasing After You: The vocals in the chorus of this song remind me of the vocals in the song Tempted by the UK band Squeeze. This song insn't band, I just don't really like it that much. I think that there is more of a newish feel to it? I don't really know how to better explain it.
4. Coming Around: This hurt this Ep. I didn't like the way it started out. The thing that keeps them from being another These Animals is the better quality and the vocals. Everything is basically the same. Yeah this song hurt this for me. I don't think there is a better explination. I like it, just not a ton.
5. Underground: This song is SHIT. I don't think that this does them any justice. The beginning of this says they are kids unground. Terrible idea, and it drives me nuts when they try to do that. I don't think that talking about being kids is a strong point of view. And it is so over used. In honesty the only bands that I think still make that idea work is Eisley and any project or thing that do with the DuPree family. The chorus has a break once and that part reminds me of Bang Carmaro's song Push Push (Lady Lightning) which is in Guitar Hero II. To top that thought there is a little bass riff, lasts seriously less than 5 seconds, that sounds like Bang Carmaro.
6. The Dreamer: This song isn't anything special either. I don't really think that there is much to say about this track, except the fact that it isn't impressive.

Over all I give this a 6.4/10. I liked it more than I did the first time. I'm not the biggest fan of this Ep but I think that it is decent. Someone else might like this more than I did, but that is really all there is to say. I wasn't very intrested in it, after the first two tracks. The vocals and the quality of the sound are the only thing that I think really differ from some other New York area indie bands I have reviewed. I would listen to, if they have another, album or ep by them. Its just under 20 minutes so if you want to give it a listen you should.

Congratulations Remix Ep - MGMT

I heard about this and was psyched, back last year, because I couldn't, and still can't, wait for MGMT self titled album. I checked almost everyday to see the progress of the album. I was super surprised that they were going to release a remix album of song off my favorite MGMT album, including Climbing to Higher Lows and the Eps, Congratulations.

1. Congratulations (Erol Alkan Remix): This has more of a funky vibe to the beginning. During the first verse it is only the bass. There is also electronics and drums, but it those come in later. They also have the keyboard solo in this song playing in the background while they play that funky guitar. I really like this song and remix. I think Erol Alkan did a bad ass job at remixing this song and not making it shitty dubstep. This is an actual song, and it is good. I also like how he made it work longer. The first time I saw that this was 6 minutes I thought it wouldn't be very good. I was wrong {9/10}
2. Siberian Breaks (Ed Banger All-Stars Remix): This version starts out with a piano and little guitar notes instead of guitar chords. There is also a harmonica in the beginning of the song. The harmonica in the song reminds me of My Window by The Residents. That song is off  their 2005 album Animal Lover. This song is shorter than the original version. There is a brief silence that is picked up by the next part. The next part is heavily keyboard driven along with electric drums. It is just a funky jitt. This songs next part is like on the album except there is more space and sounds like it is super stereo? This part progressively turns into notes that sound out of tune and not right. I really like it and think it's cool that that's how he made this sound. {7.8/10}
3. Brian Eno (Cornelius Mix): There is like harpsichord in this song. This has more of a sophisticated feel to it. When I listen to this it makes me think of high class, to a certain extent. There is hand claps and also strings in this song. The little synth fill in the original is played on what sounds like harpsichord. It sounds very cool. You have to hear this yourself. There is some type of over driven squeak in the background during the solo. This song is one that makes me picture them playing in a big club. And them all having fun. The song kind of ends abruptly, not as much as the album version but still. {8.2/10}

Overall I give this a 8.7/10. I love that these guys kept the continuity of the songs and it worked. None of the songs are super different. There is no FUCKING dubstep on this. For some reason remix nowadays usually means dubstep. These guys didn't dubstep, you know why... They are cool. Check it out it's on iTunes for like $3. Definitely worth the money

Crater Lake - Rogue Valley

This is a band that I found out via FrostClick, and as a part of my this for this month each Monday-Thursday will be a free download music, with the exception of anniversaries of albums, and Friday-Sunday will be music you have to purchase. This is by a band that has released 4 releases in the course of a year, this being the first (Hence the pale coloured ''I'' in the bottom right corner). No matter how this review turns out I will hope fully be reviewing their other 3 albums. Based off the album covers this seems like it's either a concept and each album is like a volume of it, or they just like using the same album covers. But based on the names of the other albums I could very easily see it being an intentional "Läther" type of thing. By that I mean it is the same album, just split into different releases, but these guys might of done a big quadruple album but released it separately into 4 albums. If so that makes sense these guys released their debut with "Crater Lake" and a debut album with 40+ songs (figure about 10-12 songs per average album) to take at once, especially if it is your first listen to a new band. I ultimately had to listen to this thing twice because I didn't think it was amazing but I could tell that 2 times through wouldn't be that bad. But you'll see why I could only do it once.

1. The Warming Moon: This song has an upbeat country type of feel to it. I think this song is ok it is in no way smazing but its ok. The vibe I get from this song hopefully does not foreshadow the rest of the album. If do then this wont be an amazing album. I think that the acoustic guitar in the back sounds cool. The thing is that "I've heard this before". 
2. Red River of the North: This song kind of reminds me of something Fleet Foxes-Esq but better quality recording. And also a little bit of These Animals, which self titled Ep I reviewed earlier. (You can find it by either clicking on the FrostClick link on the side or the Ep link on the side, or 2011 link). This isn't really anything that amazing so far. I have heard clips of a band called Fun. (there is a period in their name). And that sounds like something that would be on that album.
3. English Ivy: This song reminds me of a better quality High and Dry by the band Radiohead. I could see the being on 1995's The Bends, if they went back and rerecorded the songs for like a rerelease or something.
4. I-5 Love Affair: this song kinda of reminds me of the title track off Arcade Fire's 2010 The Suburbs. Just more of an acoustic version of this.
5. Hummingbird: when I first saw this song I thought of Neutral Milk Hotel. This could be a cover. I know they didn't write or record this song but that's what I think of. This is an ok son
6. Crater Lake: this reminds me of Coldplay. Espicslly the guitar and the vocals. And also Christmas music I'd hear at church. I'm not huge on Christmas music.c
7. Rope Swing Over Rogue Valley: this sounds like it it would be a song that I like. It just doesn't deliver enough or me to like it. It sounds like the rest of the songs I me.
8. Ursa Minor: this song is el samo
9. The Occidental Hotel: this is pretty much on the same boat as all the other songs.
10. The Planting Moon: I really have lost all interest in this album
11. Slack Water: why must there be more
12. El-Ay: I can honestly say that I spaced out at this song.

Overall I see this album as a 3/10. I think that I was expecting more out of it. It reminds me to much of Arcade Fire, Radiohead both of which I think are ok bands. I really like some indie music. The thing tough is that some indie bands sound too much alike. You can tell that this could be frustrating. This album is the kind of novelty music that I don't like.

These Animals Extended Play

These Animals are a band that I found out via FrostClick. These guys are a New York Indie Pop Quartet. I've heard this Ep a couple of times. I think that the album cover to this is something different. When I first saw it I though it was some type of African Song things. Well it turned out that I was wrong. Now here is the review before I get to descriptive. The thing is that these guys have this ep up for free on Last.fm and also on their website. This is worth downloading and I'll tell you why, or not.....

1. Side By Side: This is the first song I heard by these guys. The first time I heard I couldn't get it out of my head. The intro drum roll sounds awesome, along with the intro riff. Which is followed by the vocals and a bass riff. The chorus is what somewhat reminds me of MGMT. The song isn't very complex, but it is that style. The post-chorus piano fill sounds pretty cool. Just wish it was a couple seconds longer. This is definitely my favorite song off the extended play.
2. Miles...: This is the second track. I don't really know how I feel with this. The first time I heard this I really liked it. I still think the Christmas feel they give this song is cool, and the harmony vocals in the chorus, its just that... it gets old. There is a cool sounding guitar solo and sleigh bells ringing through the whole track
3. Pocket: This is another song that for me was good at first. Then It just got boring. The beginning of this song reminds me of All The Young Dudes by Mott The Hoople. This song also reminds me of Christmas at the chorus with the sleigh bells or the tambourine. This is a very pop song, almost too pop.
4. A Word At Sea: The intro arpeggios sound cool. They are reverbed or something, there is a different singer on the track. His vocals remind me of a distant cousin, vocals wise, or Roger Waters. But then the normal singer sings the pre-chorus and chorus. There is a type of solo in there
5. Ebb And Flow: The intro of this song reminds me of Paramore but it is soon over after the singer comes in to the picture. During the chorus there is a heavier drum build up that ultimantly dies. The lead guitar has a riff, but it just doesn't do it for me.
6. Four To The Floor: This is the longest track. Why do you do this to me. Oh wait.... the drums and the intro to this song are way different than the rest of the album? They incorporated more non-Christmas sounding songs. With a cool bass riff and a solid drums. And there are hand claps, with a cool riff in between the verses. This track has potential but for me it doesn't quite reach that level.

Over all I give this a 7.9/10, at first, but after revisiting this I'll give it a 5/10. I like this a lot, but it eventually gets boring. I like that it's only 25 minutes because if it was a full length album then it would be hard to listen to more than once through. I think it is for anyone who likes a more pop version of MGMT and mainstream. This also gave me an overall feeling of Chrismas songs. I honestly dislike Christmas music because how many times have you heard Jingle Bells. But this is an Ep that didn't last me that long, it might last you longer. PS they have another album called Souvenir Sessions, which I'll review... eventually.
