St. Vincent

This review has basically been done for almost two years. Seriously, So why not finish this up and get it over with. Cleaning out the Draft section. This is the fourth album by Annie Clark. I found out about her when Strange Mercy first came out back in 2011. Now I waited to listen to this album until the day it came out, not even the singles. Now I had to run out so I listened to the singles before I left, then the rest when I got home. I still plan on reviewing this this month, and also her other stuff too, but soon. I put this off for a few days to let it sit with me and to grasp this talked about wit. Now years later, heres the review.
  1. Rattlesnake: This is a good opener to this album. Throughout my "review process" for this album I've revisited all of her prior album, with the exception of Ratsliveonnoevilstar. Off the bat there is a bit of a different feeling, more distorted and electronic. There is some really nice phasing on this tune, and I feel like the woman on this cover made this tune. The lyrics, in the chorus are also sort of "odd" but it just works. This is pretty catchy, and they beat is solid. I feel like this is a solid tune to open the sound of the album, and give you a pretty clear picture of what might happen. Also great solo, it works here well.
  2. Birth In Reverse: This track was released as the first single for the album in December 2013. This is a very good song that has only gotten better as I listen to it more. I love the singing and riff playing sort of the same notes. The digital distortion on this track real sounds nice. This is very much so a song I could see being able to dance to. Also that solo, I love it. Annie this is amazing, and this sort of little fills and in between verses those are just great. I mean I love it, sometime people could get stuff like that to work but it's just great. Also the drumming reminds me a bit of Chad Wackerman. Might not be a valid though, but sounds very 80's. I just love tune it's so fucking fun.
  3. Prince Johnny: This was released as single number three for the album in May 2014. The vocal choir is great in this tune. It completely makes this tune. There is a very heavenly feeling from that. But they guitar kind of keeps it from that. Not to say the guitar doesn't work, it's just..... It's very much so the right kind of odd. Plus great groove. Just check it out, I dig it.
  4. Huey Newton: The title of this track reminds me of Fig Newtons. The drum beat reminds me a bit of Housequake. I do like this song, and think it's a great addition to this art pop record, it's just not a favorite of mine. I could see it growing on me, but you know I don't know. There are moments where, if they went in this direction, I could see this being an Eisley song. It's a nice little change of pace, and the guitar riff reminds me a bit of Deep Purple. You know, if Fireball was made today. That sort of pick up towards the end, nice touch.
  5. Digital Witness: This, being another great or amazing track, was released as the second single for the album about a month after the first. This is such an odd song, but odd in the best way possible. It's got a swagger to it that impresses me. It actually reminds me a little of a digital version of Dr. John or New Orleans music. That is until the choruses. This sounds like the big single off Love This Giant. The vocals are great here and that synth bass line, great. I think what makes this so good is Fripp could have though of some of this guitar work. This song sort of, in a way, hardens a bit of Fashion. I think I already made that comparison in a review from this month (maybe Fripp is just on my mind) who knows. It's the tittle details and the sharp playing.
  6. I Prefer Your Love: The music fits the words so well. It's romantic sounding and a really enjoy it. While I'm not 100 percent enthused with the "to Jesus" line. The thing though is, it's her music and if its true then I think she has the right to say it. This first actually, it's very heavenly and the sort that I think Panda Bear didn't pull off really on that new record from 2015. This is very pretty layered and sounds great. I really couldn't ask for her to do anything else to this song. Really, even those little water sounds..... great touches.
  7. Regret: This was released as the last single for the album in August 2014. I don't really know why this was picked over I Prefer Your, but you know. This isn't as great as the last song, but has a very laid back feeling. There is a groove and feeling, it's just not as great as the other singles, but still pretty good. I like he instrumental parts the most though. Thats really neat sounding.
  8. Bring Me Your Loves: The way her voice is distorted and messed with reminds me a little of Aura off ARTPOP.  This is a very bizarre song that I really like that it's weird. I have a crush on Annie, shes pretty but she's also an amazing musician. I love talent, it's really cool to me. I wish this song was weirder, but you know still this is pretty odd. With song great synths towards the ending, like really great.
  9. Psychopath: This is a track that, to be honest, isn't for me a lesser Birth In Reverse. It's kind of like an underdeveloped version of the song. The pre-chorus has some extra sounds come in, but then the chorus comes in and it's so damn pretty. Now lately I've been screwing up my hearing and need to listen to music quieter for it to heal, so I imagine that chorus would be better with loudness. I also love the acoustic guitar that comes in during the solo. That whole part of the song actually reminds me a ton of the band Eisley. They have a song called Wicked Child, which is on Currents from 2013, and to be honest I think Eisley did it better. The solo even reminds me of BIR. While I don't think it's a terrible song, I just think that it's not on par with some of the other great tracks here.
  10. Every Tear Disappears: I actually dig the title of this track a lot. There are some pretty cool titles here. The intro also reminds me a bit of The Car's tune Just What I Needed. I mean really, it sounds like it. This has some nice sounds going on, one of which reminds me of The Residents but anyway. The vocals remind me also of Stacy at points. This is a nice penultimate song.
  11. Severed Crossed Fingers: This track sounds like it could be on a tribute album for Sgt. Pepper's. The track is very psychedelic and reminds me of one of the Paul McCartney music hall Fixing A Hole type songs on that album. There is a synth that sounds a ton like a harpsichord. This is a pretty good ending I think to the album. The bridge part reminds me a lot of the orchestral section of A Day In The Life. The way she is singing and it's intensifying reminds me of that part. The solo at the end of this track reminds me of a song that I can't recall at the moment. It's really nice and a great closer.
Overall I have to give this album a 7/10. I know Annie's music and wanted to let it sink in a little before I reviewed an album.  I think that time is what helped it so much. At first I couldn't listen to this thing front to back. Now I know my favorites and the tracks that are not. I'll return to the former, and most likely not to the latter. But a good summation could be that this is honestly what ARTPOP is, not Gaga's faux art. Now "art" is very hard to define but I think it's when you put you heart, soul, feelings, and love into something. Art is created, in my option, when your expressing something. It could be as deep as a moral dilemma, to as light as you're hungry. If its basically a labor of love you can say its your work of art. If you throw it together in a day or bs meanings to shit, that's not art. Only you can decide what art is and how much of you goes into it. And there isn't any argument that Annie didn't put "Her Love" into this thing.

Days Are Gone - Haim

This is the debut album by sisters Haim. I've been waiting for this thing since the beginning of the summer. The one thing that sucks is in Cali it's always summer, in Chicago we have winter. This is perfect summer music. But whatever, I think after three years it's time to review this thing right. Well... Not three years, this September it'll be three years.
  1. Falling: I like this tune, it still seems pretty awesome. I mean I think the whole feeling of it is pretty nice and I love that bass. The vocals are really nice and the echo effect is pretty sick. I mean, there is an electronic element I think is working extremely well here. Also nice guitar solo, great tone too. I also love that "steel drum" sound towards the ending of the song. Nice little touch
  2. Forever: I already reviewed this tune on its EP. I still dig it and it's pretty fun, to be honest.
  3. The Wire: The opening of this reminds me so much of Eagles, until the vocals come in. I mean it still sort of reminds me of it, but it is much easier to take. This is a fun little ditty, that isn't really serious. I mean it could be, but I think it's best when taken as not a serious thing. I like the tones here and the synthesized bass on this things awesome. Then the strings at the ending are another nice touch.
  4. If I Could Change Your Mind: This song is very 80's. Is that bad, no. I actually think it's kind of fun. It has that same feeling as Forever. I mean it's a different track, but there are some similarities. Also I love that whatever synth that sounds like chimes. Damn is that awesome. The handclap break down is another nice touch.
  5. Honey & I: I really like this tune. It's pretty awesome and it's catchy. I like the backing vocals, and there is just something here that I didn't originally pick up on when the singles came out but with the record.... There was a sort of magic. I mean not Star Wars magic, but there is something that just clicks on this track. The overall feeling of this is pretty great and it feel like a 90's tune updated.
  6. Don't Save Me: This is a fun song, but it isn't as fun. The vocals remind me a bit of Stacy from Eisley at points in the vocals. I mean this song is very much in the style of the album, but at this point there isn't anything blowing me away. Like the hits happened, this is a bit weaker.
  7. Days Are Gone: I wanna say my girl Alana, she's my favorite, is singing this. I'll check, but this has a weird vibe that is also sort of accessible. Really the only thing I can think of that has a sort of odd but easy to listen to feeling is Fashion. Though that's weirder, but still. Nice tune.
  8. My Song 5: I like this song a lot, it's weird and I guess a garage band sort of demo. But I do really think this is a nice little addition to the album. The kind of dubstep feeling is kind of nice here. I think it doesn't overwhelm and work nice. But really I do like how this kind of breaks up some of the similar atmospheres songs. Nice guitar work here too. The remix with A$AP Ferg is pretty solid also. Plus the single has Alana'/s ass as the single pic......u You really can't loose with this one.
  9. Go Slow: Another track on the Forever Ep, and well... I like it more than I used to to be honest.
  10. Let Me Go: This opens with singing and an atmosphere. I kind of feel like the singing could be like an outtake from maybe The Wire. Or repurposed lyrics. This is pretty solid, with an intense verses section. I do like the percussion and and I'd love to see what was used to make this sound. The solo also works here, I like it. Solid tune and a nice surprise. I wasn't expecting this. The guitar also, towards the end, reminds me of Bond. That riff. Also the keyboard thing at the end, nice touch.
  11. Running If You Call My Name: I don't care for this introduction much. I mean it works, but I'm not feeling it. And I know the live version of this is superior to the album version. This sounds too, produced? I mean it's pretty but, I want something to get me pumped or to give me closure. I'm not getting that here all that much.
Overall I have to give this album a 7/10. This is a pretty fun record, what can I say. I think a lot of its strength come from the little touches here and there. That on top of th solid song writing, you have a solid album. I'm glad I decided to do this review or this month. :) It's always nice to hear something good again for the first time in a long time. Hopefully LP 2 throws left hooks and more sick percussion.

The Modern Age - The Strokes

This is the first release by The Strokes. This precedes Is This It and features "demos" of song that would be rerecorded for their debut. Kinda like on As I Lay Dying's split album, going on to Re-Record all those song for different albums. (Note: This paragraph was written before school, and the review was done during school, and the summary was just now).
  1. The Modern Age: Now, I do like this song. I think that I might like this ones a little more.This band has a garage band/Alternative vibe to it. Lot's of times those types of bands have a DIY vibe to everything. The solos are cool, I like the way it is double picked. I also like the start stop feel of the riff. I like Julian's vocals, on songs like Reptilia, but I also like this one too. I also like the kind of "jams over" stop thing they do at the end of the song. It just ends.
  2. Last Nite: I also like this version more. I don't know if this is a thing. Like liking the rawer sounding versions of songs. A good example is, though it's not really other versions of the same songs, but Nirvana. The sloppy, raw grunge vibe off 1989's Bleach. Another example is Soundgarden's two slops from the 80's. Maybe it had to do with the money reasons, but I still like those and the sound more. This version sounds more DIY. And I like it because of that.
  3. Barley Legal:  Quite possibly my favorite Strokes song, either this or Reptilia or the MGMT vibe of Machu Picchu. The verses are pretty solid but on top of that I love the chorus. I don't know why, but that kind of hooked me on the band. Actually I have Is This It and Room On Fire coming in the mail, and they should be here with Bowie's Zeit on Monday.
Overall I have to give this album a 8/10. This is short, but it's also great. Since it's short it doesn't get very redundant, and it is able to keep my interest. If you have any interest in this band at all you might want to hear this before you even hear their 2001 Debut classic.

Forever Ep - Haim

This is the debut release, by the LA band Haim. It is composed of 3 sisters, Este, Alana, and Danielle. They formed in '06 but released their first release in 2012. Now when I first heard of them, I was like they are kind of cute, why not check them out. Then they got bigger and I finally sat down yesterday to listen to this Ep. Damn! I was like, Fuck! These are sisters, they are all sexy, the youngest is only 4 years older than me, they can make good music, and they seem to have decent personalities. So if there is any group to have a crush on, its Haim. And this shows how much I pay attention, they are backing vocals on the track LVL by A$AP Rocky off his debut album Long.Live.A$AP. Actually, Alana, the one on the far left? reminds me a little of Misty Mundae.
  1. Better Off: The beginning of this song reminds me of The Chapin Sisters. This whole song kind of reminds me of them. Minus the "Fucked Me Up" line. I read that theses guys were compared to Fleetwood Mac. I could kind of see that. And with that in mind, this song reminds me a little of The Chain
  2. Forever: Alana, I think she's the singer, well anyway, remind me of Christie off You Make Loving Fun. Beside the vocals though, this song kind of reminds me of like something I would see if I were to watch MTV in the '80s. This is a very fun song. This song is a song that I could imagine listening to over the summer. The Ep was released in July, but still. This song just feels like I could hold a lot of memories of your youth.
  3. Go Slow: As the title suggests, this song is slower than the others. This song reminds me a little of The Police. They way that this seems kind of reggae, but not Bob Marley. Like a hint of it. This isn't my favorite song, but I think it kind of grows on me. This also kind of seems like a song from Lion King with the atmosphere. Idk
  4. Forever (Dan Lissivik Remix): I don't care for this, but it's a remix. So I don't think very much of it, you know.
Overall I have this give this a 8.5/10. I liked this a lot. It was a first time through and I really liked it. I really think that I am going to follow this band. Not only are they sexy, their music is kind of too. Maybe it's just me, but that's me. I WILL buy that iTunes Festival Ep when I get a chance to. I can't wait :) And lets pray to God for a full length sometime soon.

Elliott Smith

This is the sophomore solo effort by singer/songwriter Elliott Smith. I found out about this guy by google searching albums that came out on July 21st. One other album was Appetite For Destruction, and though I think it's a good album, I like this one more. I actually think that this is a really good, solid album. But I listened to it and, well, I'll explain more in the review. I've been pumped to do this thing since I first started doing reviews, and I have planned on doing this one on my birthday.
  1. Needle in the Hay: This is a depressing song, and along with the others, have Elliott playing acoustic guitar and singing. This is a dark song, and it is kind of pretty to. This song is a good song, and honestly remember able, at least for me, chorus.
  2. Christian Brothers: This song kind of makes me think that the name fits it. Like the music that goes along to the album. This song has a country flavor that kind of makes me think of Simon & Garfunkel.
  3. Clementine: This song could actually be a song that was composed by Paul Simon. Like maybe be on his Paul Simon Songbook from 1965. The album that was released after the first "break up" of Simon & Garfunkel duo. It was released after their 1964 debut Wednesday, 4 A.M..
  4. Southern Belle: This song kind of reminds me of a song on 1966's Sound of Silence. That is also one of my favorite albums of all time. I really dig the vocals on this song and how it has an aggression the rest of the songs don't really have. The best part is the ending with the vocals where he sings loud and almost enraged, in his whisper quite vocals.
  5. Single File: This is also another songs where it is kind of reminds me of the 1966 Sound of Silence album.
  6. Coming Up Rose: This sounds like other people are playing on the song. I think that it might have accordion in it. The guitar solo in it is also really cool sounding. This song sounds like there is an entire band playing. This song has a type of, after thinking about it, a Grateful Dead vibe kind of. Like one of their softer songs.
  7. Satellite: I think that this is a pretty sounding song. I don't think that there is much for me to say beyond that
  8. Alphabet Town: I think that there is a harmonica in this song.
  9. St. Ides Heaven: This songs sounds like it feature a full band.
  10. Good To Go: This is also a pretty song. It sounds like this is a heartfelt feeling, if that makes sense.'
  11. The White Lady Loves You More: I don't know exactly how to explain this song. This is a songs that sounds like, at least to me, a weird chord progression. I don't know, I might be crazy.
  12. The Biggest Lie: I think that this is a good way to end the album. Also a good song.
Over All I have to give this a 9/10. This thing is like a more depressing, solo album of a guy whole sounds like the Simon & Garfunkel duo. It's a shame that he died, I wish that he didn't. I almost feel bad for how dark sounding this is, not evil, but dark. This thing has textures and isn't just one recording. He made it sounds very pretty. I couldn't think of it at first, but it kind of has this folky Grateful Dead vibe going on in it too.

Vacation - Bomb The Music Industry!

This is the 7th album by indie music collective from New York. They are from NY, ie place that doesn't really bring that much musically. Well outside of maybe Zorn. But I don't really like bands like this, or music like this, so I am kind of not expecting anything huge.
  1. Campaign For A Better Next Weekend: I went into this not expecting to like it. This song kind of shook my feelings, not a ton, but made me feel like I might like it. This wasn't that amazing of a song but if this was like the rest of the songs this would get a decent review score. This song gave me a feeling of Coldplay so I was kind of excited. And the song builds.
  2. Vocal Coach: This song totally sounds like a Weezer song. Absolutely everything, outside maybe the vocals, sound like Weezer. They even have that little xylophone sound that reminds me of Pink Triangle off 1996's Pinkerton. I can't explain how similar it is.
  3. Everybody That You Love: This sounds like a punkish song that might be in a Tony Hawk video game. And outside of the vocals I get this feeling of Christian rock, for some reason. But that Christian thing isn't through out the whole song, only the beginning of the song.
  4. Sponge Board/Baby Waves: This could be a cover of Our Prayer off The Beach Boys 1969 20/20 but was intended to be on the 1967 lost album Smile. Which has been released as a boxset featuring some of the takes of the songs.
  5. The Shit That You Hate:  The beginning of this song reminds me of Green Eyes off the 2003 A Rush of Blood to the Head by Coldplay. But that changes when they add electronic thing playing along with the vocals, and the feedback at that one part. Then they add strings and remove the feed back. This song is what I assume a ballad. The lyrics aren't that amazing, but I don't think that all of Weezer's lyrics "sound" that good. This song builds and is "epic?". Not for me, but maybe for you. The vocals on this just hurt it for me, a lot.
  6. Hurricane Waves: This has a surf rock feeling to it. It is a typical one that I think you can tell that it doesn't sound that new.
  7. Sick, Later: For some reason the like hook in this song reminds me of the theme song for that Victorious TV show on Nick. I have seen it in the past, mainly because sometime my sister has it on and I'm not doing anything. I don't watch it all the time, just on occasion, but then again who doesn't do that if they have a younger sibling. But anyway this song doesn't give me anything fresh.
  8. Why, Oh WHy, Oh Why (Oh Oh Oh Oh): This song reminds me of like The Cure. I don't get exactly why, but it does. This song doesn't sound that far off from the last track.
  9. Savers: As this progresses this starts to get repetitive. And it's a little too repetitive. The last 3 songs before this kind of sound the same. They add strings in this song, but it doesn't do anything at all for me.
  10. Can't Complain: This has the feeling that I get from Hurts Like Heaven off 2011's Mylo Xyloto album by Coldplay. The difference, biggest, is there isn't as much electronics going on in there. I am glad that there is a little variation at this part. There is no need for swearing on this song, or on anyother songs on this album. They just put it in there for "shock value". And It isn't that sharking. The ending has this voice sample that I'm not gonna talk about cuz it's dumb, just remember that.
  11. Everybody That Loves You: By this song I'm kind of looking forward for this thing to end.
  12. Sunny Place Shady People:  This is like the electronic 8-bit solo for the last song, then they add in other instruments. The way this song ends sounds like they sampled Ronnie from Escape the Fate and more recently Falling in Reverse voice.
  13. Felt Just Like Vacation: This is just a continuation on the last song. I think that the last three songs were supposed to be like a big melody. The ending of this album is ok, and it is a good way to sum everything up. There is like a 2 minute outro of an arpeggio that sounds like it getting out of tune. I think it sounds sweet. Nice way to end the album/vacation.
Overall I can't say I really liked this. I have to give it a 6.2/10. I think that this is something that people might like, and I kind of see it having potential, but I just don't like it. This thing is a big "Jumble Fuck" of genres, in a good way. Each song sounds different from each other. But then again, they are from New York. So, I got it free at their website/tumblr and I think you should give it a listen. I do want to review their future/past stuff to. So look forward to that. One last thing, the backing vocals kind of remind me of the choruses on a Bang Camaro song. This band also gives me this NOFX vibe, the vibe that makes me very much dislike NOFX.

Exquisite Corpse- EP - Warpaint

this is a band that formed in 2004 in Los Angeles. I remember listening to the first I heard Elephants. That song, along with the video, remind me of those late "Summer Nights". The ones where I listened to Faith No More and Mr. Bungle. It also gives me that good feeling that I got from, this will sound ironic, summer school. I felt like that was a new family for me. It was fun, but it stinks getting up. I do kind of miss it though. Enough info crap and back to the review. This is for realz holmes and now to the review. PS I'll fix the album cover later. Doing this on my iPod. Also note to self this was uploaded at 12:37pm
  1. Stars: This song starts out with a feeling that reminds me of the Foo Fighters. With the exception that it's a girl singer. The song in particular that comes to mind is The Pretender off the 2007 album, whose name I can't think of but if you knew those Foos you know what I'm talking about. The drums and bass through the entire track remind me of that. The song then changes a little way into it and it turns into a Zeppelin sounding guitar with vocals from girls. The second half of this song remind me of that breakdown of the lie version of Since I've Been Loving You {7/10}.
  2. Elephants: The video to this song is a welcoming one. I love it so much. This has like a magical feeling to it to where it's hard to explain. I don't really know how I can explain it. This is a very psychedelic song and has awesome guitar finger picks. The distortion to the guitar and vocals is awesome. The drums an the bass are so clear. The drums are sick and they just add to the song. This song is so clean and clear and easy to hear everything. There is a part where the girl's voice sound like its underwater. At that same part the guitar cuts out and it's just bass and drums going with her voice. The part where the song slows down and then just ha this feel of building up. Orgasm, because it goes back to the beginning. {10/10}
  3. Billie Holiday: This song is ok. I don't think that it's the best song on this album, but I do think that it is neat. This song is an acoustic song, that with headphones, sounds better and more pretty. The drums in this song are a little quieter in this than the last track, but they still are sick sounding. This drummer on the Ep is really cool style of drumming, at least I think. This song is a love song and could be a love song that I could see someone having in a movie after the lead lost their love interest. There is this synth that sounds like strings. In the ending they have one of those two different people singing two different things. That is followed by two acoustic part that was in the whole song an is goes into like a distorted underwater sound kind of. Then is goes to the fade, and tw0 track fades in and his this cool feel that it comes back in. This is a really cool song {8/10}
  4. Beetles: This song reminds me of Elephants, but it doesn't. This is a cool sounding song like Elephants but it has a more clear almost Undistorted feel to it. The bass and drums are more loud than the guitar. The song goes into a breakdown and during this breakdown the song has this type of pretty arpeggios that are accompanied by drums and bass. That ends and it's sole guitar playing what sounds like Greensleeves. After that a synth comes and gives it this more emotional feel to it. Then come the drums and after that the vocals. That part kind of reminds me of the breakdown in Since I've Been Loving You off the legendary live album The Song Remains The Same. After that it goes into this other kind of sounding Led Zeppelin feel. They pull it off like pros. I really enjoyed this song {9.7/10}
  5. Burgundy: This song starts with sole bass and drums and then the vocals. There is the guitar that sounds like it is waiting in the background waiting to attack. This song seems like it is a tiger, so to say, and is waiting to attack. This song progressively gets louder and faster. It has this slow fade in feel to it. The most of the track sound like it is still fading in. This is really cool and I like that that the way it was produced. The instrumentation impresses me like a mofo. I can't believe I enjoyed this so much. This is a really sick song. The song then sounds like it begins to fade out to acoustic arpeggios. {9/10}
Over all I would have to give this album a 8.6/10. I enjoyed this more than I thought I would. I would suggest this album to anyone who in interested. This is a good Ep, and from what I understand the album is better. Can't wait to do that one. I think that this is neat, especially since I poked out the Led in there. Ha ha ha ha… I am hoping to get this, one day, on Vinyl and CD too, if that make that. That would be sick. Oh yeah one last thing I'm doing one tomorrow but after today the daily reviews is going to end and I will upload them as I feel. But the weekend ones will still be there. I'm hoping for, excluding the weekends, three a week. So yeah, that's it

Try This At Home - Finding Fiction

This is an indie band from Brooklyn. I found out about these guys via FrostClick. The album cover looks pretty cool and mysterious. Like I am curious to see how this plays out. The cover of this kind of reminds me of The Weeknd's mix tape House of Balloons. Oh yeah, I posted this ten days after I started the initial review
  1. Migraines & Sheep: This song isn't that bad. The way it starts out is pretty cool. This song gives me a feeling of that this is going to be a good listen. And that I have not made a mistake choosing to listen to this Ep. The only thing is this song kind of drags on. And it doesn't recover from that drag for me. The second time hearing this, ten days later, I think that it is a little better. The drag still goes on, but it's not as bad. This really reminds me of that band Fun. that I heard from the commercials on YouTube.
  2. Panic Rooms: This song starts out, for me, not so hot. I really was hoping to get swipe off my feet, in order to make up for that drag of the last track. #This song is only like 13 seconds shorter than track one. This song is just, no other way to say this, Bad. The beginning of the song kind of sounds like a panic. This song kind of reminds of These Animals. The name of this song kind of reminded me of Coldplay's song Don't Panic off Parachutes
  3. Weathermen: There is nothing that really appealed to me in this song. This is the longest song, only by a couple seconds, but still. I don't like this. This just has no appeal to me. I feel like this is just to repetitive for me to like. The vocals in the mix are to in there. It sounds like there it this wall and everything is trapped within that wall. And nothing can get passed that wall. Somethings are louder than others, but thats only because they are fighting stronger. And his vocals are also just have this echo to it to where I personally can't understand a word the singer is saying. That song was just... it just went on.
  4. Dear Daylight: This song is ok  There is nothing that is overly amazing about this track but it is still decent. There is this thing in the background that sounds like this siren, and it just has this odd feel to it that makes it irritate me. It kind of gets on my nerves, and it just is irritating. There is also this feel to it, that reminds me like they want to try to sound like a band that I'm not super fimilar with, but The Cure. The songs off Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me remind me of this Ep. But it's like, they are failing at it. This song just doesn't grab me.
Over all  I give this a 4.2/10. I think that this kind of dragged on. It would of been so much better if it were shorter. Not to mention track two was just bad. I hope these guys make another Ep but make it a lot better than this one. It wasn't that fun of a listen, for me at least.This is a "very indie" band that would be on the radio. One that I tend to find that I like to stay away from. They don't really sound like anything that I've never heard before and liked. One plus to this is it's only 22 minutes, but that is killed by the fact that these song are not very good. They have another ep called Plastic & Change Ep, I hope that one's better than this one.

Visions Of Tall Girl EP - The Ugly Club

This is a band called The Ugly Club. These guys Are an indie band from New York. This is, if I am correct, first Ep. This Ep is only 13 minutes so I decided to listen to it twice. Oh how glad I was...
  1. Visions Part I: This song kind reminds me of These Animals. They have the vocals and the popish sound that they do. This song is better quality in the way of more space than These Animals. The second time through I like it more than the first. The harmony vocals is the part that reminds me most of These Animals. I really like how the bass sounds. I think that the keys help the song out a lot.
  2. Parks: This sounds like it would be, with out knowing any info about them, a New York Indie group. There is a part in this song where it reminds me of a mix of The Cure's song Just Like Heaven and blur. I think this song sounds pretty cool.
  3. Visions Part II: This song is kind of like a reprise of part I. This exactly 1 minute shorter than part one. There is a part in this song where it is a type of saxophone in the song. After that breakdown it gains back up and is what an New York indie band sounds like.
  4. Hope We Survive: This song has a type of eastern feel to it. It is intresting that they would do that . I like that this is different from the rest of the album. I don't think it's one of those "Weird Songs" on the album
Over all this Ep deserves a 8/10. This has progressively grown on me. I respect it more than the first time through. It isn't anything that amazing, I just thought it was something I enjoyed. I don't think this deserves a 9 or a 10. An 8 is good enough. I do suggest that if you are willing to, listen to this.

Congratulations Remix Ep - MGMT

I heard about this and was psyched, back last year, because I couldn't, and still can't, wait for MGMT self titled album. I checked almost everyday to see the progress of the album. I was super surprised that they were going to release a remix album of song off my favorite MGMT album, including Climbing to Higher Lows and the Eps, Congratulations.
  1. Congratulations (Erol Alkan Remix): This has more of a funky vibe to the beginning. During the first verse it is only the bass. There is also electronics and drums, but it those come in later. They also have the keyboard solo in this song playing in the background while they play that funky guitar. I really like this song and remix. I think Erol Alkan did a bad ass job at remixing this song and not making it shitty dubstep. This is an actual song, and it is good. I also like how he made it work longer. The first time I saw that this was 6 minutes I thought it wouldn't be very good. I was wrong {9/10}
  2. Siberian Breaks (Ed Banger All-Stars Remix): This version starts out with a piano and little guitar notes instead of guitar chords. There is also a harmonica in the beginning of the song. The harmonica in the song reminds me of My Window by The Residents. That song is off  their 2005 album Animal Lover. This song is shorter than the original version. There is a brief silence that is picked up by the next part. The next part is heavily keyboard driven along with electric drums. It is just a funky jitt. This songs next part is like on the album except there is more space and sounds like it is super stereo? This part progressively turns into notes that sound out of tune and not right. I really like it and think it's cool that that's how he made this sound. {7.8/10}
  3. Brian Eno (Cornelius Mix): There is like harpsichord in this song. This has more of a sophisticated feel to it. When I listen to this it makes me think of high class, to a certain extent. There is hand claps and also strings in this song. The little synth fill in the original is played on what sounds like harpsichord. It sounds very cool. You have to hear this yourself. There is some type of over driven squeak in the background during the solo. This song is one that makes me picture them playing in a big club. And them all having fun. The song kind of ends abruptly, not as much as the album version but still. {8.2/10}
Overall I give this a 8.7/10. I love that these guys kept the continuity of the songs and it worked. None of the songs are super different. There is no FUCKING dubstep on this. For some reason remix nowadays usually means dubstep. These guys didn't dubstep, you know why... They are cool. Check it out it's on iTunes for like $3. Definitely worth the money
